I have been a huge advocate for using google wifi instead of other and even more expensive systems. I would love to have this as an upgrade to my current google wifi system

I was thinking overkill. The laundry room? Seriously? I guarantee you his life is a nightmare. Things turning off and and on at random, crap music being played when you asked for a RUclips video, bluetooth getting hijacked, and now you can't connect unless you unplug everything. Not to mention Google assistant frequently cops an attitude and messes with you; even laughs about it.
Fantastic Video!! However, as far as device priority goes... 21:46 "we can set up a few of those" Only one device at a time can be set as a priority device for the specified time duration. If you select one device and then select another, you'll notice that the first device is no longer highlighted. I purchased this today and came across your video this evening. Truly a great how-to for the Nest Wifi!! Learned a lot!
I have the Google Wi-Fi and I have loved this system. For the price this system I have had really great coverage and performance. Unlike most people I use wired back-haul between points because it really makes a difference with performance, especially one of the points is in my shed to cover the back yard and it's too far away to have a good connection with the other points. Yes I ran network cable out to my shed and it was worth it. Even in the back yard by my shed I'm getting 450Mbs download speeds with my 3 year old Google Wi-Fi... I have 1Gbs internet service in case you were wondering. Now with the new Nest Wi-Fi they have removed things that help improve network performance and added things that have absolutely nothing to do with Wi-Fi or it's performance especially on the points!! And on top of that they raised the price. They could have done so many things to improve on what was already a great product but instead they made it worse by replacing the network ports with things that nobody asked for. I will be looking else where when it is time to replace my Google Wi-Fi.
I think the 37 second delay in "turning off" the wifi was more likely the RUclips app on the TV having data buffered. I can literally turn the power off to my WiFi network so it doesn't exist and RUclips will continue to play from the buffer for almost a minute. It looks like the actual enabling and disabling is instant. Thanks for the review.
I am growing my smart home. I have a Google Assistant device in nearly every room, multiple chromecasts, nest thermostat and doorbell any many smart lights. I often watch your videos before setting up my devices. I have fast internet but have noticed it cutting out randomly on some devices. Looks like nest Wi-Fi might be the solution I'm looking for not only for better connectivity but also being able to prioritize as you mentioned seems like it would be great. Keep up the great videos!
Hi Brett, This was the best google wifi video I have seen, very in-depth, makes me just want them more, they would be perfect to run a smart home like ours which is used to make the house accessible for my wife. They sound way more reliable than a lot of standard wifi routers. Unfortunately we live in Australia and cannot enter this competition but just wanted to say thanks for making such an awesome video.
That helps alot. I currently have Gen 1 Google Wifi with 4 points, but I have kept an eye on Nest Wifi for some of the new features. Namely, Wifi 6 is supported from my understanding and that would help as I get closer to the connected device limit in my home. Also, having Google Assistant built into the satellite pucks would remove a large number of my existing Google/Nest Homes. I also use a switch to split up hard line connections at the base, but I'm sad to see it removed from the satellites. That allowed me to remove wifi adapters from any PCs/laptops I wanted to have connected in distant rooms.
I sent it back. Over 5 hours with the tech and he told me that the reason I couldn't set up the new network was because of interference from my modem/router. He tried hard (5 hours) and the product may work great for most people.
A fantastic detailed and thorough vid! It answered a lot of my questions about adding this unit to my existing wifi network. I need to bookmark this for future use when mine is set up.
I own this and there are some things you have left out which someone buying on your review would want to know. First, WPA3 does not work at this time. Second, Nest Protects do not appear among the connected devices. Third, the speed of this home mesh is not like others due to not using tri-band meaning traffic to and from the router goes through the same network rather than a dedicated network. Fourth, the need for two apps is highly irritating since you cannot check a device's speed on the Home app but can only do it through the wifi app. Google has ALOT of work to do to make this product what is advertised so anyone buying should know there there are a number of features that dont work yet. I would highly recommend people visit the site's forums to see ALL of the mountain of issues with Google's smart devices before buying - because even things google has put in print as characteristics of their devices do not work. Having blasted Google for all of the shortcomings of this device which is also not wifi 6 ready, its still a good, easy to setup product and stability is very good. Thanks for the video!

You can use your old router as a switch/hub if you don't already own a switch. No need to buy one unless you need more ports or want the simplicity of just the two devices. You could even start with your old router then add a switch later to extend wired connections.
One thing I've been curious about with both this and the old Google Wifi systems is how good the connection is on different floors of a house. If I had the router upstairs on one side of the house and a point on the other side of the upstairs, would the signal be good all the way down in the basement or should I get at least one additional point to put on the first floor to ensure good signal in the basement?
What is the size of your home. My parents have done it this way and it has worked well for them. 1. Far end of the home upstairs 2. Middle of the home basement 3. Opposite end of the home upstairs. If you only need two points I can see the first two options being sufficient.
Hi David, I have the Google Wifi (1st Generation) in my house and I have 4 floors. I put 1 on each floor. Only because I wanted maximum speed no matter what floor I was on. But I originally started with just 2 and put 1 on the first floor and 1 on the 3rd floor. Worked very well but as I said I just wanted maximum speed.
This is an interesting video. You mentioned things that I had a hard time coming across when looking up this new mesh point. BTW, Is the new device able to work with the Google WiFi app?
Yes it is! I cover that near the end. I did the setup in the Google Home app but all settings from what I have seen can be adjusted in the Google WiFi app.
Observation from testing. First provider speed was 940 mbps at the modem; was also close to that with as wired connection to the Nest Router. However Wifi speed was less than half that. Seems is using 2.4 band which maxes out in the 400/500 mbps. Even communication between a Nest Router and Nest wifi point are also 2.4 band as a wired connection to the Wifi point was also maxing out at 400/500. Change provider speed to 400 mbps, actual about 385 mbps at the moderm. Now both wired and wifi speeds to a pc were both in the 370 speed. Another observation is if communications are great to both the router and wifi point and device being used, speed from wifi point will be less.

I also have the circle right now and have considered changing to the Google hub. You mentioned that you can't turn off pause by voice if it's programmed, so how easy or hard is that to do? On Circle, I select the kid and hit reward and then change bedtime. What is required for the Nest Wifi to change it?

Really wish more mesh wifi systems had wired lan ports on the satellites... I would have loved to go with the Google Nest version but opted for the Orbi for the ports >
With this system one flaw I can see is that if you want to use this to replace your current router, then you would probably want a switch because this router doesn't have any switch ports so you can hook up your PlayStation or computer for example. I like my computer and gaming system to be "hard wired" as opposed to Wi-Fi. Other than that it looks simple and convenient. Please let me know Brett if I'm correct.
Assuming you still need to use your ISP provided router for the modem functions, just plug your ethernet devices straight into that along with the Google router if you have enough ports.
@@futurecactus you mean use the modem that's "feeding" the router as the switch? Or do you mean using the "original" that is connected to the Google Router as a switch?
@@BBQPitmaster626 keep your current setup as is then just plug the Google router WAN port to current router LAN port. You can then turn off the wifi of your current router and configure the Google router with the same SSID and password as the old one so will your devices will switch over by themselves.
The Google router will get a private IP address from your current router that it will use as it's WAN IP which is no problem, if the Google router has a firewall (I'm not sure if it does) and you're worried about double NAT, put the Google router into the DMZ.

I have an old Airport Extreme. Hasn't been supported or updated in years, as they discontinued them. It was a workhorse, but since all of these wireless cams, bridges, plugs, bulbs, Google speakers, Chromecasts, hubs & phones? It's not holding up so well. Maybe it's time to upgrade. Probably my modem too. And the nest with it's extender is about the same price I paid for my Airport back then! Thanks for the great review!
You said Nest Wi-Fi is capable of router Advanced Options. I have two devices that require Port Forwarding. Are either the Home app or the Google Wi-Fi app capable of letting me set up Port Forwarding on the Nest Router? How do you do it? If you cannot do it, would I have to connect a different, second router to the switch box and then hook up and operate the two devices through the second router, which would allow me to configure Port Forwarding?

What a nice review! Everything explained very clear and loved the timestamps in the video timeline! Question: My ISP provides a modem/router (just 1 device that has wirfi)... would I need to get a regular modem with no wifi to be able to connect the Nest Wifi so I don't have 2 networks?
*2 QUESTIONS FOR TECH WITH BRETT, PLEASE ANSWER* Question 1 - How do you make your chromecast devices show up on your devices to Cast to list on your phone? Ex. On the *Cast to* list, I can see my Samsung TV (which don't have Chromecast), my Bluray players, and my Roku's, but sometimes I can't see my TV's or soundbar, with the actual chromecast connected or built in. My Google Nest Hub Max don't even show up on the *Cast to* list. The crazy thing, it's only sometimes (Mainly when company is over and when I'm trying to show off). I use to be able to fix it when I Sync all devices, but now that don't work. They're all on the same wifi network. Then after awhile, out of nowhere, they will appear on the *Cast to* list (once company leave.) Like everything with Google don't show up on the Chromecast list. Do you have any ideas how to fix this? Question 2 - Did you ever let your children play *Akinator* on Google Home?
My computer is closer to one point, but constantly swaps at random to the farther point causing some serious lag issues mid game. I can't seem to find any info anywhere on how to get a device to prioritize a specific point. You pointed out that the reverse is possible. Got any thoughts on how to fix that? Or a way to assign a specific name to a specific point or something? So you connect to just one node.
Still some things I am not to clear on with this. Namely, what is it for? Does it replace your current internet provider or does it just boost it to make it better? Does it work the same everywhere and what would be the main reason for getting one (if any) in a standard home? Will it benefit us in any particular way or is it really only useful in certain situations?
Sorry if that was not clear. This is a WiFi router. You still keep your modem and internet provider and you plug it into the Nest Wifi. It will then turn your internet into a wireless signal that can be used on all of your devices.
I have the old Google Wifi, and they work great. I have cables going to all of them because the wireless signal wasn't good enough for me. I will maybe update with a new Nest wifi point in the future because then I get a new google assistant device and better internet at once.
Hi, what about when you move your device (a table or cell phone) away or out of the range of the nest router and get closer to the other repeater? does the device change automatically from the router to the repeater if they have to same SSID? or the router and repeater "automatically" pass the device from one to each other? Anyone else having issues getting the assistant to run a speed test? Sometimes it'll perform the speed test, other times it'll give me a search result telling me about treadmills, or if I ask on my phone it'll give me a speed test which I need to click on to perform. When it has said back to me that it's performing a speed test, it hasn't given me the results like shown in the video. I need to then go into the home app, or look on displays, and it'll have the results for the speed test. I've checked the assistant history and how it has transcribed what I've said, each time is has heard 'run a speed test', but it's inconsistent with the results.
I have a previous ecosystem with my wifi ISP router, so all the devices like sonoff or nest hub max were configured with this network. Now I bought a nest wifi. So, do I need to change all the configuration on this things to joing the new wifi?
First of all I appreciate your video, it is a great help. One question, I have century link internet service which was down sunday. They provide a modem /hub combined. I have a nest hub with 2 access points. When the internet went down the nest stoped working and I could not get it working, so its is removed from my system. You mentioned in your video that you removed your wifi router and installed you nest hub directly. My wifi and modem are combined. Do I have any options with this setup. I really want to use my Nest hub.

I currently run a dlink mesh system (works ok) but have issues connecting to some of my smart devices consistantly. I'm slowly moving my smart devices over to phillip hue which requires a hub that can only handle so many devices. What happens if I need an extra hub connected to the google wifi system should I decide to switch to that system?
I have a similar set up as yours but my house have the Ethernet cables on several rooms. I was thin ink to add the Google router at the living room and have it as the only wifi "extender". I am assuming that if I set up the nest wifi with the same name of the modem wifi, I would have the wifi from both available in the house. Is this correct?
So you plan to use it with the modem wifi and the Nest Wifi? That does cause some issues because that will create two wifi Network with the same name. You could Name the Nest Wifi something else and that would work.
Love the video. I have I router and 3 points that mesh. I have moved the 4 th point right next to the 3rd point to mesh and it just wont mesh. There fore none of the points after that mesh. However they are still producing wifi and playing music and so forth. Is there a setting that I am missing?

I currently have a Arris Surfboard SBG7580-AC modem router combo. I seem to drop devices that need to be re-setup weekly. Have 40+ devices mostly light switches, Hue and wyze cameras. Do you think added a nest wifi system with the same name would add stability to the devices? If I do should I leave the WIFI for the surfboard using same name or shut it down and rely just on the nest?
Great News! On Nest’s Wifi page it is mentioned that the Nest Wifi is backwards compatible the original Google Wifi and works best if the Nest Wifi is plugged into the router.
If I use the same network name as previous so I don’t have to connect all my devices again, do I have to delete it from the existing modem router. To be clear I have an existing T-Mobile modem/router and will add google mesh.

So you can add older mesh units to the newer setup but wasn't clear if all three of the older mesh/router unit can be used with the newer setup. Or do you chuck it and only use the points to the newer setup?
So with the new Nest Wifi router you can pair the existing Google Wifi points with it. So if you just bought the router portion you can then add your 3 existing Google WiFi points to the mesh system.

They considered folks with existing version 1 setup, meaning two mesh points and one router, and all three can still be utilized when adding the newer version 2 router. That is if they sell just the version 2 router. Time to check where and if the router can be purchase as a single unit.

Hi, you say in the video on pre scheduled WiFi turn off’s, smart speakers can’t be used Which is great but if I pause certain devices WiFi separately what stops them turning it back on with their own google speakers.
I would say if you aren't having any issues there is not need. If you are finding you still have spotty areas maybe picking up just the router and adding what you already have would be helpful.
the "prioritise device" setting was interesting. I wanted a mesh network with QoS but I don't even think Orbi offers it... The fact that I can prioritise devices for up to 4 hours (I was under the impression at one point, you could only do it for an hour at a time), is really handy. Can you ask Google Assistant to prioritise a device for you?
When connecting my second nest point, I get a “Problem connecting to cloud” which some people say are caused by my modem router combo (wifi disabled, only used a modem). Any solutions?
I have Verizon FiOS Gigabit service which provides connection via ethernet to my Verizon router/modem rather than coax as traditional connections have, thereby requiring the modem in order to connect secondary routers. Given that I have that ethernet connection straight from Verizon into my home, can I get away with not using the Verizon provided router/modem at all?
I have 2 sets of google nest wifi (1 set = router and point). The primary router is wired with ethernet to my modem and stands next to my tv. Then i have one point in the kitchen (same floor) and one point in my bedroom (2nd floor). Speed and mesh tests are solid. I placed my second router on my attic (third floor) and it is also connected on my modem with a ethernet cable (i have cables running to my attic). However, the mesh test is not good with the 2nd router. It says i need to place it closer to my primary router to have better connection (although there is a point not 5 meters away from it, one floor down, and it is connected to my modem with a cable). When i just see my devices and see their connection status, all devices are solid except 2nd router where it says its either offline or has a weak connection. Any idea or suggestions to fix this? :). Thanks in advance.
Are there benefits to this system versus the earlier versions. I still have the original Google Hub and a couple of wifi mesh points, looking like two stacked pucks with a lighted ring around the middle. When I run a "Test Mesh" , results are inconsistent; often improve when unplug and replug in
which google wifi app was it you used? Is it one just for the nest wifi or also for the older google wifi ones? Cause I can't see where I can connect the home with the wifi!

You can use your old router as a switch/hub if you don't already own a switch.
No need to buy one unless you need more ports or want the simplicity of just the two devices. You could even start with your old router then add a switch later to extend wired connections.

One thing I've been curious about with both this and the old Google Wifi systems is how good the connection is on different floors of a house. If I had the router upstairs on one side of the house and a point on the other side of the upstairs, would the signal be good all the way down in the basement or should I get at least one additional point to put on the first floor to ensure good signal in the basement?
What is the size of your home. My parents have done it this way and it has worked well for them.
1. Far end of the home upstairs
2. Middle of the home basement
3. Opposite end of the home upstairs.
If you only need two points I can see the first two options being sufficient.
Hi David, I have the Google Wifi (1st Generation) in my house and I have 4 floors. I put 1 on each floor. Only because I wanted maximum speed no matter what floor I was on. But I originally started with just 2 and put 1 on the first floor and 1 on the 3rd floor. Worked very well but as I said I just wanted maximum speed.
My house is 3520 Square feet. so I went with 3 Google Nests Wifi. and it works perfectly!

Yes it is! I cover that near the end. I did the setup in the Google Home app but all settings from what I have seen can be adjusted in the Google WiFi app.

Made the right choice! The points have google assistant no matter what!
Observation from testing. First provider speed was 940 mbps at the modem; was also close to that with as wired connection to the Nest Router. However Wifi speed was less than half that. Seems is using 2.4 band which maxes out in the 400/500 mbps. Even communication between a Nest Router and Nest wifi point are also 2.4 band as a wired connection to the Wifi point was also maxing out at 400/500.
Change provider speed to 400 mbps, actual about 385 mbps at the moderm. Now both wired and wifi speeds to a pc were both in the 370 speed.
Another observation is if communications are great to both the router and wifi point and device being used, speed from wifi point will be less.
Thanks for clearing thing out. I depend heavily on the lan port for my current google Wi-Fi network and was just about to buy the nest Wi-Fi but I’m glad I watched your video first, otherwise I wouldn’t know that the nest points doesn’t have the lan port, unfortunately.. :(

I also have the circle right now and have considered changing to the Google hub. You mentioned that you can't turn off pause by voice if it's programmed, so how easy or hard is that to do? On Circle, I select the kid and hit reward and then change bedtime. What is required for the Nest Wifi to change it?

With this system one flaw I can see is that if you want to use this to replace your current router, then you would probably want a switch because this router doesn't have any switch ports so you can hook up your PlayStation or computer for example. I like my computer and gaming system to be "hard wired" as opposed to Wi-Fi. Other than that it looks simple and convenient. Please let me know Brett if I'm correct.
That is correct. I did show how to add a switch and now can hard wire in 7 different devices easily.
Assuming you still need to use your ISP provided router for the modem functions, just plug your ethernet devices straight into that along with the Google router if you have enough ports.
@@futurecactus you mean use the modem that's "feeding" the router as the switch? Or do you mean using the "original" that is connected to the Google Router as a switch?
@@BBQPitmaster626 keep your current setup as is then just plug the Google router WAN port to current router LAN port. You can then turn off the wifi of your current router and configure the Google router with the same SSID and password as the old one so will your devices will switch over by themselves.
The Google router will get a private IP address from your current router that it will use as it's WAN IP which is no problem, if the Google router has a firewall (I'm not sure if it does) and you're worried about double NAT, put the Google router into the DMZ.

On the Google Nest Wifi there is no way to specify the difference. It auto places devices on the proper frequency.

I have an old Airport Extreme. Hasn't been supported or updated in years, as they discontinued them. It was a workhorse, but since all of these wireless cams, bridges, plugs, bulbs, Google speakers, Chromecasts, hubs & phones? It's not holding up so well. Maybe it's time to upgrade. Probably my modem too. And the nest with it's extender is about the same price I paid for my Airport back then! Thanks for the great review!

You said Nest Wi-Fi is capable of router Advanced Options. I have two devices that require Port Forwarding. Are either the Home app or the Google Wi-Fi app capable of letting me set up Port Forwarding on the Nest Router? How do you do it? If you cannot do it, would I have to connect a different, second router to the switch box and then hook up and operate the two devices through the second router, which would allow me to configure Port Forwarding?

Question: My ISP provides a modem/router (just 1 device that has wirfi)... would I need to get a regular modem with no wifi to be able to connect the Nest Wifi so I don't have 2 networks?
I have a modem/router and I just turned the router function off on my modem router. That function may or may not be available on your modem/router.
*2 QUESTIONS FOR TECH WITH BRETT, PLEASE ANSWER*
Question 1 - How do you make your chromecast devices show up on your devices to Cast to list on your phone? Ex. On the *Cast to* list, I can see my Samsung TV (which don't have Chromecast), my Bluray players, and my Roku's, but sometimes I can't see my TV's or soundbar, with the actual chromecast connected or built in. My Google Nest Hub Max don't even show up on the *Cast to* list. The crazy thing, it's only sometimes (Mainly when company is over and when I'm trying to show off). I use to be able to fix it when I Sync all devices, but now that don't work. They're all on the same wifi network. Then after awhile, out of nowhere, they will appear on the *Cast to* list (once company leave.) Like everything with Google don't show up on the Chromecast list. Do you have any ideas how to fix this?
Question 2 - Did you ever let your children play *Akinator* on Google Home?
Does the app allow you to set specific channels for the 2.4 and 5 GHz networks?
My computer is closer to one point, but constantly swaps at random to the farther point causing some serious lag issues mid game. I can't seem to find any info anywhere on how to get a device to prioritize a specific point. You pointed out that the reverse is possible. Got any thoughts on how to fix that? Or a way to assign a specific name to a specific point or something? So you connect to just one node.
Still some things I am not to clear on with this. Namely, what is it for? Does it replace your current internet provider or does it just boost it to make it better? Does it work the same everywhere and what would be the main reason for getting one (if any) in a standard home? Will it benefit us in any particular way or is it really only useful in certain situations?
Sorry if that was not clear. This is a WiFi router. You still keep your modem and internet provider and you plug it into the Nest Wifi. It will then turn your internet into a wireless signal that can be used on all of your devices.

I have the old Google Wifi, and they work great. I have cables going to all of them because the wireless signal wasn't good enough for me. I will maybe update with a new Nest wifi point in the future because then I get a new google assistant device and better internet at once.

Anyone else having issues getting the assistant to run a speed test?
Sometimes it'll perform the speed test, other times it'll give me a search result telling me about treadmills, or if I ask on my phone it'll give me a speed test which I need to click on to perform. When it has said back to me that it's performing a speed test, it hasn't given me the results like shown in the video. I need to then go into the home app, or look on displays, and it'll have the results for the speed test. I've checked the assistant history and how it has transcribed what I've said, each time is has heard 'run a speed test', but it's inconsistent with the results.

First of all I appreciate your video, it is a great help. One question, I have century link internet service which was down sunday. They provide a modem /hub combined. I have a nest hub with 2 access points. When the internet went down the nest stoped working and I could not get it working, so its is removed from my system. You mentioned in your video that you removed your wifi router and installed you nest hub directly. My wifi and modem are combined. Do I have any options with this setup. I really want to use my Nest hub.

I currently run a dlink mesh system (works ok) but have issues connecting to some of my smart devices consistantly. I'm slowly moving my smart devices over to phillip hue which requires a hub that can only handle so many devices. What happens if I need an extra hub connected to the google wifi system should I decide to switch to that system?
I have a similar set up as yours but my house have the Ethernet cables on several rooms. I was thin ink to add the Google router at the living room and have it as the only wifi "extender". I am assuming that if I set up the nest wifi with the same name of the modem wifi, I would have the wifi from both available in the house. Is this correct?
So you plan to use it with the modem wifi and the Nest Wifi? That does cause some issues because that will create two wifi Network with the same name. You could Name the Nest Wifi something else and that would work.
Love the video. I have I router and 3 points that mesh. I have moved the 4 th point right next to the 3rd point to mesh and it just wont mesh. There fore none of the points after that mesh. However they are still producing wifi and playing music and so forth. Is there a setting that I am missing?
In the Google WiFi app have you does a Network check to see if the mesh network is working?

I currently have a Arris Surfboard SBG7580-AC modem router combo. I seem to drop devices that need to be re-setup weekly. Have 40+ devices mostly light switches, Hue and wyze cameras. Do you think added a nest wifi system with the same name would add stability to the devices? If I do should I leave the WIFI for the surfboard using same name or shut it down and rely just on the nest?

This is not for you, this thing is a lagfest in my experience. Go for the Netfear Orbi, I hardly have any problems since switching

Great News! On Nest’s Wifi page it is mentioned that the Nest Wifi is backwards compatible the original Google Wifi and works best if the Nest Wifi is plugged into the router.

Yes that should work.
So you can add older mesh units to the newer setup but wasn't clear if all three of the older mesh/router unit can be used with the newer setup. Or do you chuck it and only use the points to the newer setup?
So with the new Nest Wifi router you can pair the existing Google Wifi points with it. So if you just bought the router portion you can then add your 3 existing Google WiFi points to the mesh system.

They considered folks with existing version 1 setup, meaning two mesh points and one router, and all three can still be utilized when adding the newer version 2 router. That is if they sell just the version 2 router. Time to check where and if the router can be purchase as a single unit.

Hi, you say in the video on pre scheduled WiFi turn off’s, smart speakers can’t be used Which is great but if I pause certain devices WiFi separately what stops them turning it back on with their own google speakers.

I would say if you aren't having any issues there is not need. If you are finding you still have spotty areas maybe picking up just the router and adding what you already have would be helpful.

the "prioritise device" setting was interesting. I wanted a mesh network with QoS but I don't even think Orbi offers it... The fact that I can prioritise devices for up to 4 hours (I was under the impression at one point, you could only do it for an hour at a time), is really handy. Can you ask Google Assistant to prioritise a device for you?

I have Verizon FiOS Gigabit service which provides connection via ethernet to my Verizon router/modem rather than coax as traditional connections have, thereby requiring the modem in order to connect secondary routers. Given that I have that ethernet connection straight from Verizon into my home, can I get away with not using the Verizon provided router/modem at all?

So it is compatible with the router I showed in this video but not with the newest Nest Wifi Pro.
I have 2 sets of google nest wifi (1 set = router and point).
The primary router is wired with ethernet to my modem and stands next to my tv. Then i have one point in the kitchen (same floor) and one point in my bedroom (2nd floor). Speed and mesh tests are solid.
I placed my second router on my attic (third floor) and it is also connected on my modem with a ethernet cable (i have cables running to my attic). However, the mesh test is not good with the 2nd router. It says i need to place it closer to my primary router to have better connection (although there is a point not 5 meters away from it, one floor down, and it is connected to my modem with a cable). When i just see my devices and see their connection status, all devices are solid except 2nd router where it says its either offline or has a weak connection.
Any idea or suggestions to fix this? :).

Are there benefits to this system versus the earlier versions. I still have the original Google Hub and a couple of wifi mesh points, looking like two stacked pucks with a lighted ring around the middle. When I run a "Test Mesh" , results are inconsistent; often improve when unplug and replug in
