Ooooh my God! I just used a pointed knife to remove a key that was stuck in the barrel. God bless you eternally. May you live to see all your enemies fall in disgrace. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. You have saved me a ton of money. And with that may God line up your pockets with riches . God bless you for sharing this with the world!
Omg thank you! I called a couple locksmiths who wanted to charge $100-$200. I used your knife trick. Took me 3 seconds and cost me nothing! You are my hero!!!
WD-40 and tweezers worked like a champ! Didn't know what on earth I was going to do, except call a locksmith, so thank you SO much for sharing your knowledge. THIS is why I love the internet!!!
This has instantaneously become one of my favorite RUclips videos of all time. It demonstrates what the internet can be at it's best. I had a key break off in the lock and I had no idea what to do. I was thinking it was going to be a $275 visit from a locksmith. Bill get's right down to business with a litany of professional and DIY solutions. I stopped midway because I already had heard 3 different methods I could attempt. It worked and the key was out. I then went back and watched the rest of it just so I could be amazed at the myriad clever and ingenious fixes that were employed by this entertaining and informative host.
Amazing. Had a key that broke so deep into the lock for weeks and I really didn't want to have to call someone out. The screw method worked so well after the other failed. Thank you
This video is phenomenal. It’s 10 at night with a broken key in my room and was locked out. I was working on it for hours with tweezers etc.Nothing worked watched this video and boom broken key was out. I was so ecstatic because the next stop was target for a needle nose pliers. I used the knife method. Thank you So much have a great weekend, holiday and life. Good video.
Just saved a $100 for a locksmith because of this video. Thanks so much for sharing multiple ways to do this. Knife method with tweezers worked! I appreciate it.
I cannot thank you enough for this!! I didn't have the other items, so I used my small kitchen knife and to my surprise it worked really well. This was such a life-saver
This trick works. This guy knows what he's talking about. I bought my tool kit from Amazon last night and just got it delivered. Went to Walmart and got a small 3oz WD-40 and 5 minutes later the key was out. OMG!! I was going to call a lock Smith last week until I ran across this video. Less than $15 and 5 minutes of my time saved me $350 charge from locksmith. He probably would of try to sell me a whole new lock with the door. Lol. Thanks so much
I used 2 knives and managed to remove a broken key that was lodged in quite deep, and I didn’t even need WD40! Thank you very much for the video you’re a saviour!
Thank you! Broke the key off in the trunk this morning. Didn't use any of the tools you did but had some tools I used for the computer which worked perfectly. Just had to understand the concept which you demonstrated perfectly.
Your hacksaw method saved me £60 locksmith bill! The available space was tiny, so I cut the hacksaw blade just under the teeth, and hand sanded the sides to make it as thin as possible. Thanks mate- very much appreciated! Cheers!
Thanks for making thus informative video! It helped save my son however much a locksmith would have changed for his snapped off key! The double knife method worked for us.
This video saved me! I had a broken key in a tiny filing cabinet lock that was almost flush with the lock. I couldn't get the tweezer trick to work but I found a tiny enough screw that fit. I couldn't believe my eyes when it popped out. 😁 Awesome video! Thanks for taking the time to make it!
Thank you so much, just got my key broken and used your knife method to get it out. I used micro screwdrivers instead of knives, the idea is the same. WD40 was really necessary. Thanks again for great tips.
Thank you very helpful! Saved me a locksmith. Did the WD40 and prise with two mini flathead screw driver methods instead of knives (this key was too deep for knives). Thank you for showing a helpful method!
Yours and similar other videos (I have to say) helped a lot so thank you very very much. I had to retrieve my key from a house door, that also had a little "gate-keeping" metal piece, so I first had to push that thing up and out of the way and then I used your suggestion to drag the key out, but by hooking the end of a paper clip. So that can work too if someone doesn't have the other hooked instruments you showed. Thanks again.
Skipped the professional tools as it was my front door and needed to remove asap. Tried with tweeter and needle without success, then watched this video and knife did the trick! Wouldn't have thought about it as it's a larger item, thanks for the video it saved me a ton!
Thank you , thank you , thank you. You just saved me a lot of work having to remove the lock from my filing drawer to take to a locksmith, not to mention the locksmiths charge.
Wow that’s amazing! I watch this video for 30sec I went and tried it with knife and baby oil, Praise God it came right out. Thank you for that great creativity!
Thank you so much! The knife method worked. I was locked out the house, husband didn’t realise his key had broken in the security gate. I searched and found this video. Thank you!
My key was stuck at the moment and after the hook key extractor I used WD40 and a utility knife blade...and baby, I got it out! Two clicks later in this video you showed the knife method...I was proud of myself. Thank you brother!!!
i just removed my broken key with a tiny screw after so many trials this morning i lubricated and left it alone after watching this video i tried with a screw and pop it came out then and i pull out with my fingers. Thank you.
Very informative video,. my only comment though is the broken key part youre extracting is almost flush to the lock face. If the key part is smaller and broken further into the lock your options of removal are much more limited since youre working in the dark so to speak. If you have the opportunity could you please do another video to explain how you would get the broken part out if its smaller, further in and cant be seen ?
Thank you. You are clever. My 11-year-old son managed to take the broken key out of my window keyhole by watching your video by using the knife strategy under my supervision. We do appreciate you making this video.
You, sir, are a gentleman and a scholar. I've had a key stuck in my back door lock for a year and half before I found your video. The tweezers didn't work, and the knives didn't work, but the screw method got it. Thank you!
How grateful can one be? Endlessly. You made it look so simple, gave excellent advice, plenty of options and all with an easygoing, positive attitude - extremely helpful when you're thinking "ohhh s..t!!". The knife method worked a treat!
GENIUS! Screw worked for me. Only had to rotate it a little and the point had the broken key coming out enough that I could grab it with tweezers. Thanks Bill!
"If possible" lightly put that coping saw blade on a low speed grinding wheel. Made mine really thin, real narrow but it retained its tinsel strength. Pulled out a few keys at work that way. Great video, you gave me a couple other good ideas. 👍
I had no time to order special tools so I chose first to try tweezers since that was the simplest. I first sprayed DW-40 and waited a half hour. Finding the hole in the key is crucial and your video shows that well. The tweezers took out the broken key in 2 tries. Thanks, Bill.
Perfect remedies. All tools used were just as simple and available in every house needs. love it. Saves possible waist of times and money. Thank you more blessings upon you.
February 2022 broke my key off in one of my trailer toolboxes due to the freezing temps of the winter season. I’m not at the storage yet to try any of these methods just yet but I’m more than confident that I can remove it after seeing this video. So I’ll thank you in advance before I forget. Thanks for such a great video.
Absolutely brilliant!!! Bill, thank you, thank you, thank you. During my move, the small key safe key broke in the lock. I thought I was going to have to toss out the safe. I found you and your video. I was prepared to purchase the extractor set and am so glad that I watched the whole video. I used a small awl point in the key and lock space, gently pushed against the key, and pulled. It popped right out. I didn't even need the WD-40. I can't wait to watch your other videos. Thank you, again!!!
Thank you for saving my life - my key snapped inside my motorbike lock for the seat. TRied many of your methods. In the end used wd40, very pointed knife and my wife's tweezers. Success ! Now I have oiled the lock again. Spare key works perfectly - seat unlocks! wooohooo!
I don't think it was mentioned in the video, but for some locks it will be impossible to get the key out of a lock if it's unlocked (whether the key is broken or not). So make sure to turn it to the 'locked' position before you start, usually a coin or the side of the broken key (that's outside the lock mechanism) will work.
Very helpful video. I work as a mechanic for various housing corporations. So we have to fix broken keys regularly. So thank you very much for this video.
Thank you so much for this video. I had a broken key and was struggling to get key out but the 2 knife method worked within seconds and no wd40 used #legend
Does not really help if the broken piece is too deep in the cylinder. These examples were all set up for a pretty easy removal. But the ideas/tools to use are helpful.
I had the same problem. I tried all his suggestions and more. But his example of using a saw blade made me think of trying a scroll saw blade. Luckily I have a scroll saw and had a thin and fine enough blade that could squeeze between the key and lock. This worked perfectly. The fine blade I had looked similar to that extractor tool with the barbs. Some places do sell individual scroll saw blades but usually you have to buy a pack so may not be an option if you don't have a scroll saw.
Great video, straight to the point, no BS and lots of great ways to do it ,,, "But" what if the key broke in half , and the other half all the way in the key slot? ..."Please help" " thank you. You guys are the best.

Great unless your lock does not have any gap between the key and the cylinder. I'm doomed. There's not even a hole for a needle to fit.
