    Part 4 is my fav. This is when Freddy peaked in pop culture. Guest spots on MTV, Elm street Tv Series, even a Music Album. Deb’s roach death is a great buildup, you don’t know what he’s doing at first then there’s the payoff. A fun watch.

  • @Jackie-McCann
    @Jackie-McCann 11 месяцев назад +27

    Rick’s death was originally going to be much different. The elevator he was in was going to crumble apart, leaving him to fall in an endless abyss. But by the time they were getting ready to work on the sequence, the budget was just about GONE, so they had to improvise and literally throw that dojo scene together.

    • @Subjectivity13
      @Subjectivity13 11 месяцев назад

      But... what does an elevator have to do with martial arts? Unless they also added in the scenes of him practicing earlier, and he was not originally a martial artist. Even more than other horror series, Nightmare movies always focus on what each character is interested in or afraid of, and use it to kill them later. Maybe if they established that he was afraid of heights, the elevator kill might make sense, but otherwise, that would have been really random for Rick's death.

    • @TheeOGBobby
      @TheeOGBobby 11 месяцев назад

      Always wondered how the scene would’ve looked on screen. The higher ups should’ve known to give these movies bigger budgets. The fans expected for the dream sequences to be much more elaborate than the last.

    My favorite Freddy line in the whole franchise is in Freddy’s revenge during the pool party scene when a random kid says “take it easy we’re here to help you”. And Freddy goes “Help yourself fucker!” Lmao

    The ending symbolizes Freddy's evil being reflected back onto him and due to it,it gave all the spirits he absorbed from the first one to the fourth one,the power to fight back,allowing them to tear him apart from the inside,and free themselves to finally pass on.

    But There were ten songs on the soundtrack album.
    Sea Hags - "Under the Night Stars"
    The Angels - "Standing Over You"
    Go West - "Don't Be Afraid of Your Dreams" (Played over the end credits. A sped up, more rock-like instrumental version is heard when Alice prepares for her final battle with Freddy.)
    Divinyls - "Back to the Wall" (Played while Kristen is driving to Rick and Alice's house.)
    Jimmy Davis & Junction - "My Way Or The Highway"
    Vinnie Vincent Invasion - "Love Kills" (Played in the jukebox, after hearing about Joey and Kincaid's death.)
    Vigil - "Therapist"
    Blondie - "Rip Her to Shreds"
    Love/Hate - "Angel"
    Craig Safan - "Resurrection" (This a suite from his instrumental score.)

    This was the first one that I saw when i was a kid. First night it came on HBO, I was spending the night with my friend, whos sister was babysitting us. We begged her to let us stay up till midnight so we could watch it. She eventually relented. After we had finally gotten to sleep, she put on a freddy mask and glove and came down and woke us up... by running the knives over our faces. It was terrifying. We bolted to the bathroom and locked ourselves in. We both pissed ourselves. We were 8.

    Ive always taken Freddy's resurrection as Kristen's fear already brought back Freddy and the dog was just for show to reveal himself again. Also slight spoilers for the remaining movies but this is my favorite death for Freddy in all of the movies

  • @Subjectivity13

    22:35 He sucks as a teacher because that is Robert Shaye, the producer at New Line who produced all the Nightmare movies. He's in this one and the final one, Freddy's Dead, as two different characters, but credited both times as L. E. Moko for some reason. He's one of the most important people behind the creation of Freddy, so I'm glad he made an appearance.

    at the beginning what would have really been scary is if Kristen saw Freddy himself just causally strolling by and tip his hat or something .... just as a dream out of her own subconscious. After going through what she did , it would make perfect sense for her to have just normal dreams about Freddy

    Nightmare on Elm Street was my fave slasher franchise of the 80s. Part 2 is also the first movie I remember seeing when I was 3 y/o; I always used to joke with my Mama that it's what made me gay. Part 3 followed very closely by A New Nightmare, are my faves of the series, tho.
    I kinda wish they would have paid Patricia Arquette b/c I could see an AU where she grows stronger and becomes the Dream Master and she would have had like a multiple movie arc. There's one thing I loved from the comics that carried over from Pt 3 is: at the end of 3 when Kristen is holding Nancy and telling her that she's going to dream her into a 'Beautiful Dream', she ends up sending Nancy's soul to the Positive Gate of the Astral Plane. Freddy is the Guardian of the Negative Gate. So Nancy becomes the Guardian of the Positive Gate and she spends years learning her powers and making plans. Then, Dr. Neil Gordon and other survivors come together b/c they finally wanna end Freddy for good. Well, they meet up with Nancy and she reveals her plan. There's a final battle where Nancy calls all the souls of the kids he's killed over the years to help destroy him. Was definitely a fun/different way to wrap up the story.

I mean what else do you want? LOL

  • @dklounge7082
    @dklounge7082 11 месяцев назад +6

    The opening theme was sung by Tuesday Knight, who played the new Kristen. It depends on who you ask as to why Patricia didnt come back. It ranges from her being pregnant to her agent telling her to join the movie to focus on non horror roles to her just not being asked to come back. This movie was also filmed during the 1988 writers strike and they ran out of money during filming which is why Rick's nightmare sequence was so lackluster

      @mikemullen472 I saw both of those when I was a little kid back then, Lol. One had a psychic girl, and the other he was in Manhattan, and both were just 80's TV primetime aesthetics at their best. But in all seriousness, this was a look that was really prominent in the latter half of the 80s when it came to horror films, but went away once rhe 90's came around. Like Nightmare 5 and Freddy's Dead, as well as Jason Goes to Hell, which came out in the early 90's, all had a very different, almost grungy aesthetic to them.

    This is my favorite Nightmare. I know it gets a lot of hate because it’s cheesy and it’s most likely nostalgia for me because I watched it the most growing up but idk I just love this nightmare 4. Definitely a guilty pleasure for me

    I see why I didn’t like this one as a kid. The recast confused me. Honestly the only thing I remembered was the Groundhog Day moment.

    Where did your Histories and Lore for Season 4 go? I started it and had to stop. When I came back a couple of days later, it was gone.🤔

    I think this movie is underrated. Not immensely so but it’s fun.
