    Just a trick for using your back up camera to connect the the trailer. Open your tailgate about halfway and loop the tailgate cable over the bolt on the bed it will hold the tailgate about halfway open pointing the camera directly over your ball. Perfect view for lining up to connect the trailer.

    Hey John Now that you have a diesel truck you need to go to TSD Logistics and sign up for the EFS fuel savings card You pay the same price at the truck island that the truckers do and save up to 50 cents a gallon at flying J, Loves, TA and Pilot stations

    I have a similar Passport - the 3220BH and towed it for 8 years with a 1500 (Suburban first and then switched to a pickup.) Last year finally moved to a Silverado 3500HD with the Duramax. Big difference. One thing is that we do tend to keep highway speeds now, which worries me about the trailer tires. I think we're upgrading those soon. These types of changes are entirely worthwhile to remove anxiety from your travels and life. Congrats on the new truck.

    • @NoOrdinaryPath
      @NoOrdinaryPath  4 года назад +1

      Agreed on the tires for sure. We noticed a big difference in our highway speeds too. We used to tow very slowly and now we can cruise at 70 which is nice but probably more wear. We just got new tires on Wendy before heading to this contract. Thanks for watching and commenting. Safe Travels!

    First off, I love the truck, We have a 16 F350DRW. I hope you guys got an extended warranty. The 6.4 was not a very good engine, most say 150k miles is when it dies. There is a reason Ford only produced them for 3 years. I do wish you guys the best of luck with it. Thank you for sharing, hope you all stay well on the front lines.

    I’m pulling a 33 foot Cougar with my half ton Silverado. So far it seems to be doing the job but after watching your video, you got me thinking about a diesel one ton. I hope i don’t have to right away but we’ll see how it goes. Keep up the good work and stay safe and healthy.

    • @NoOrdinaryPath
      @NoOrdinaryPath  4 года назад

      We pulled with our half ton for two years. It really was the little truck that could. Although we know we were in our numbers and could have continued towing with it, we feel much better having MORE truck than we need now. The process was a pain and we have a small payment for a bit but in the long run I think it's going to give us more piece of mind. Thanks for watching and stay safe!

      I had a 2011 Ram 1500 5.7L and tow a Sprinter 29DB (33ft overall). The ram had plenty of power and pulled fine but as soon as I hit any wind it wagged me pretty bad. I had a great WDH and air ride helper springs. Tongue weight was 1000lbs. I was right at my payload limit with my family fully loaded. Most of the time it towed ok but had several white knuckle trips. After a particularly bad trip I traded in for a Ram 2500 diesel. This thing tows like nobody's business now. Exact same setup and I could barely feel any movement from passing 18 wheelers or wind. I upgraded to a ProPride hitch since I now have the payload and it's like towing a fifth wheel. No sway or movement at all no matter the conditions. The other day I didn't push my 7 pin all the way in. I only noticed because my backup camera didn't work. The brakes felt fine stopping 8500lbs of trailer. I was very much in the camp that I'm experienced, I can't be careful and tow with my 1/2 ton. I'm very glad I upgraded. The peace of mind having my wife and two children in the car is immeasurable.

    congrats on your "new" truck. We have a 1500 ram that I pull my daughters 2 slant horse trailer with and now we bought a used 2016 Springdale Summerland Series 28ft. Pray for me that (a single mother) we can upgrade to a diesel soon. once we do we probably upgrade both to a horse trailer with living quarters. Your family will be in my prayer throughout the Covid-19 and for safe travels.

    Nice to have all the bells and whistles, but the more options you have on your truck, the lower your cargo capacity will be. Every truck is different. You can get an F250 with a higher cargo capacity than an F350. The 6.7L diesel is heavy and the sunroof and other upgrades are really heavy. An F350 XL will have a higher cargo capacity than a Lariat or Platinum. It’s important to read the yellow sticker inside the drivers door.All the F250 diesels can handle the GVWR of your trailer. Not necessarily so when it comes to the cargo capacity. The half ton was way too small to tow a 37’ conventional, regardless of what the tow specs say. It’s just unsafe, underweight, smaller brakes, weaker frame. I’m really glad you upgraded. The side to side pressure of a 1/2 ton pulling a 37’ box is over the top.

    Beautiful truck. You need to get a monitor for it that hooks into the OBD2 port so you can watch temperatures. With the DPF still in tact, watch EGT's. 6.4s are notorious for melting/cracking pistons due to the regen cycle. I would delete the DPF and the EGR as soon as possible. Also, with a monitor like the Edge Insite CTS1 or 2, you can watch multiple things like oil temp, coolant temp, EGT's, MPG, MPH, trans temp, etc. You can also diagnost, pull, and clear engine codes. I would suggest joining powerstroke.org and doing some research. I've had a 6.4 in the past and LOVED it. But like i said, get a monitor and delete it with a mild economy/tow tune asap. Let me know if you have any questions and keep on keepin on!

    Wow! So sorry to hear about the ridiculous nonsense you guys had to go through! That's terrible! We love our 2014 Ford F250 6.7L Turbo Diesel! (It's very similar in color to yours--love that it's a King Ranch also)
    We hope you guys have as good of an experience as we have had with ours! We bought our truck used back in 2016 when it was a couple of years old and it is one of the best purchases we have ever made!
    It's WAY more truck than we actually need for our rig but we would much rather have too much truck than not enough. We hope and pray that the nonsense is over and that this F350 absolutely rocks for you guys!!

    There is two main things that you need to know about diesel engines,
    #1 keep new fuel filters in the tool box and know how to change them.
    #2 buy and use a good fuel additive for keeping the fuel water free and to clean the fuel injectors.

    Sorry to tell you the bad news about the 6.4. I had one and after a year of problems had to let it go. The 6.4 was only used for three years because it is not designed to last. I would trade it in on a 6.7 or even better would be a cumins when you get a chance. I hope it doesn’t give you any major problems before you can get out of it.

    Hey John. I owned a 2008 f250 with the same engine you have. It had certain issues that you need to be aware of. 1: is that fuel quality is very important. I would only fuel at stations that regularly sell diesel fuel, and I would also change my fuel filters (2) every oil change. 2: if you still have the DPF I would strongly suggest you delete it. My truck at 20,000 mi blew the engine because the DPF is horrible. It's a lot to explain but message me if you want the details. 3: radiator leak. 4: cooling system cavitation.
    follow powerstrokehelp on RUclips. Watch all his video about the 6.4L
    Again message me for more detailed explanation.
    Besides that I loved that truck. I put 136k miles on it traveling the country hunting.

    Congrats on truck. Would like to to say a few words. The emission system on the 6.4 is what's garbage not the engine. Oil. Changes are very critical for power strokes. Because the style of fuel injectors require clean oil. Oil pressure is what fires the injectors. Don't go for cheapest fuel. Make sure your buying good fuel. Cheap fuel won't save anything down the road. If the coolers rupture truck will overheat. If this happens do not start truck back up when it cools down. Coolers will leak antifreeze into cylinders. Resulting in possibly destroying engine. Take advice about fuel filters and using good fuel additive. My wife consider you our favorite rv family on RUclips. Good luck.
    P.s. maintenance , maintenance, maintenance. With any diesel engine. No matter what brand.

    • @NoOrdinaryPath

      Thanks Tom. Do you have an additive that you recommend?

    • @tomhawkins8775
      @tomhawkins8775 4 года назад +1

      Power service is a great additive. Gray bottle. Rural King always had best price in southern Indiana area. But Walmart and truck stops will have it. Also consider the anti- gel in same brand ( white
      bottle). For winter weather. Didn't see anybody mention oil be sure to use diesel engine oil. Walmart does stock several brands. And the motorcraft oil filter. Never seen fuel filter kit at Walmart. Those usually are auto parts store only. They should bc also have a low profile socket that fits oil and fuel filter caps.

      NOP thx for your entertaining video FWIW on my 2nd D'max both bought new 1st was '05 put 170k mikes with minor maintenance issues but normal maintenance including Rotela Synthetic oil and OEM filters at severe duty maintenance interval still running strong. Purchased '15 Dmax 1t dually to pull our 40'TH 5ver have 65k miles on it mostly towing with only minor issues this one is dlr serviced at severe duty maintenance interval with Mobil HD synthentic. I recommend OEM filters as aftermarket filters can contaminate your expensive fuel and oil systems which can cause engine replacement $'20k + Since you have an extended warranty it's cheap insurance. I would only use Ford recommended fuel additives. Happy Camping. Stay safe and healthy.

  • @stellaredruby2003
    @stellaredruby2003 4 года назад

    First of all I am very glad to see that you finally got a real truck to pull that trailer & got rid of that half ton. I'm glad you have finally cared enough to not kill anybody else's family let alone your own by getting rid of the half ton truck that was nowhere near enough truck for what you were pulling, I don't care what the numbers say. That is a very nice truck as a trim package, BUT it's a 6.4 liter diesel the biggest overheating, oil cooler going bad POS on the planet, just so you know you have to take half the engine apart to fix it, I hope you're saving extra pennies to pay for it. You should really learn to count 7 way plug is correct, 5, really is a 4 wire flat plug, & it's a TPMS not a TPS, the original king ranch wheels for that truck are way better looking than those cheap aftermarkets, & everybody in the free world knows about the tailgate step. This isn't a hater rant, just try to know a little about what you're putting on your video before broadcasting it to everybody, you know educate yourself, in other words the owners manual. We know your excited it's okay try to calm down. Otherwise an altogether great video, mash that diesel down it can take it, those bigger trucks can take it,...........can you? remember hold on tight.

    • @stellaredruby2003
      @stellaredruby2003 4 года назад

      I do enjoy watching your videos, it looks like, at least to me, you love your family very much, so why would you put all of their lives and other families lives in jeopardy? I'm just saying your fault my fault nobodies fault that half ton truck has something go wrong with it, once it starts at any speed, you can't stop it no matter how bad you want to, so get the right truck to begin with. I'm sorry you & your families lives aren't worth $50,000.00 (the price of the right truck for the job) my family is worth more to me than money that's why I have the correct equipment for the job at hand, just saying. You don't suck at your job & I definitely don't suck ay my job, (professional truck driver) I am merely pointing out the incredibly obvious safety concerns, safety is the number one issue on the road, not money, not time, not anything else, the truck you have (the king ranch f-350) has been engineered to pull heavy loads with the original wheels, not the aftermarket ones, do you know what they're capable of, no you don't, but the engineers at Ford sat around for 5 or so years figuring out all about that kind of stuff, because that's what they do it for, hold on, wait for it, SAFETY. It's completely okay that you don't know this stuff, you're a nurse not a trucker, when you have a big trailer you can't have a little truck to pull it, it doesn't matter how careful you are, you can't have a 37 foot trailer pushing you all over the road, it can push or pull you right off the highway. I was merely pointing out some of the things you told people in the video that they were incorrect, if that makes you mad, I would like to apologize for that, like you said some people are watching you & they are learning, you don't want them learning the wrong things/way, do you? Now let's talk about diesel choices, I only know of one diesel that doesn't have problems in Fords history line up & that is the 7.3 liter backed by an R4100 transmission, the following in the Ford line up just aren't worth anything, 6.0, 6.4, 6.7, for numerous various reasons, you can look them up if you like at your leisure. If you still think I deserve a troll trophy after all this has been said, than you're not the person I see in the video, I wish you & your family great & safe journeys, I hope to see you out there, be safe.

    • @NoOrdinaryPath
      @NoOrdinaryPath  4 года назад +2

      Adam, I deleted the initial comment shortly after I posted it. So no trophy after all. 😄 If you truly enjoy our videos and do appreciate them then I owe you an apology. As you might imagine I get a lot of people that post awful negative things and after a while it kinda gets to you. It seems that we have a disagreement in regards to the old truck (moot at this point) but the fact is: I don't think we'll ever get over it. It was legal by the numbers and I did tow with it many many miles and nobody ever got killed. I really wish I had made a video where I took it to the Cat scales to prove it. I drove over mountains, across the windy plains, and never had any issue. It's proof of concept.
      It's okay everyone's entitled to their own opinion. I see plenty of people doing unsafe things to their bodies then driving probably like you see plenty of people doing unsafe things for their vehicles. I do appreciate the comments and if you enjoy the videos I do appreciate you engaging. You do have to understand that your comments come off as pretty abrasive. Honestly, it seems like the only way you might be satisfied is if you were pulling the trailer. People learn as they go along. I did do research from several different sources regarding some of the best used diesels out there and this was one engine and year model that kept coming up. Try it- Google for yourself and see what results. For now, like before, I'll continue with what I have. If the truck has problems I'll deal with them and make a video about it. Not trying to be negative or completely disregard you, its just that I have lots of experts who are willing to offer advice (many are pro drivers) and several of those have very different opinions then yours. It's difficult to choose whom to listen to. I am the real guy in the video and do wish you and yours the same. Be safe, healthy, and thanks.

      Surplus Sean I'm sorry if my knowledge of towing offends you, please don't be butt hurt, also I'm not a smarta$$ when it comes to everyone's safety on the road, even yours & if you don't like my attitude towards towing safety with the proper equipment then you can let those people run you off the road or sit in the traffic jam, while they scrape what's left of their vehicle off the road & hopefully nobody was hurt. My being a know it all or knowledgeable of towing & truck capabilities is something I do have a great knowledge of, & if you don't like it, TOUGH!!!!
