Back in the day, that is all we had were sticks to chase our siblings around, no tech, and it all turned out great, Your kids will be fantastic ! Your doing a great job. Thanks for sharing those 6 items.
My favorite would probably be the ice maker. I'm seriously considering the cost benefit... What the kids are doing (without electronics)? It's called play-ing... p-l-a-y-i-n-g! As a grandma, I wish more kids were outside playing, learning communications skills, problem-solving, getting along (even if it's not 100% of the time!)... ~ Kir (and Ron) in Tennessee
I had a Fantastic Fan in my last RV and is on the list for the new one. The ice maker is now on that list. 👍. Have a 3000 watt generator and install 400 watts of solar. You need to add them, you’ll enjoy not having to run the generator.
I will be upgrading my rig with two Battle Born lithium batteries, two additional solar panels, an electronic door lock, a tire pressure monitoring system, and a Garmin RV GPS. This is going to cost me a fortune but I think it's a good investment.
I agree with and we have purchased everything you listed here except the RV door lock only because none of the keyless lock manufactures produces one that can replace our style of door lock and handle.
Great videos. Look into putting a cover on/over your roof vents. That way if it rains you can still leave it open and it also helps while driving with the vent open.
We did this at the dealership when we bought the camper! It's been great, since we can vent in the rain and we don't break something if we forget to close the vent before taking off.
Absolutely agree with the ice maker. We have an outside kitchen where that things sits, and it's great. Keep distilled water there for it, and it will last a long time. We bought ours for about $100 in 2019, and it's still great. We keep it in the house when not camping and use it for extra ice for parties too. A whole-camper surge protector is also a great addition for piece of mind. We also bought some snap-together teak floor tiles from Ikea for under the outdoor shower. They allow water and debris to drain through while keeping you out of the mud.
We also have a champion generator that became difficult to start. I adjusted the valves and just like Emeril Lagasse “BAM” runs better than it did right out of the box
I have the same generator model with the same problem. You dont have to use propane to start it. You can spray ether or gasoline on air filter. If that doesnt work remove air filter and spray gasoline or ether inside air intake.
I love the same generator. I ONLY use it with propane. Then it doesn't get gummed up from fuel and I never gave to deal with carrying gas around. I agree with having an ice maker and make ice when plugged in and running constantly. Bagging ice and putting in the freezer is taking it to the next level. I use a plastic bucket in the freezer instead. Love my ice when camping! Great video!

We bought the ice maker on a whim.. Best investment we made. no more buying ice. Also, after having atree fall on our roof we replaced all our fans with the fantastic fans. They help cool off the trailer before starting the AC units. Looking into replacing the door latch.
Ive seen this video but for some reason it popped up in my feed again. Well, everything happens for a reason cause tomorrow I’ll be purchasing the fan(s) and the lock. Thanks for the info and motivation! 😬
I love my Champion generator! Mine isn't a dual fuel or inverter, but it is electric start with a remote start fob. Don't have to even get out of bed to start it and stop it. Bought it at Cabelas 2 years ago for $499.

This video is about things that make camping more convenient right? The FIRST thing on my list if I am going to do a lot more camping is....................a portable dishwasher! Right now, I tent camp and over the years I also try to be environmentally conscious. I don't use disposable dishes anymore, we have a complete reusable set of dishes but it's a PITA to clean up, especially without a camper that has a sink and a place to dry stuff. I remember moving from my apartment to my condo and the two things I was most stoked about was in house washer and dryer and having a dishwasher.

Regarding a macerator: you will use it often to drain tanks at RV parks because gravity does not always work with the elevation (or distant location) of the dump spot. A great investment at about $100.

My planeed spendy items, Lithium batteries, split phase inverter, and a dual zone mini split heat pump. That will let me get rid of the roof top AC units so I can put more solar on.
Nice list! Please be careful with remote open/close systems. They're easy to bypass by people looking for signals. Keep your fob in a rfid pouch until you need to use it.
@@mrs.c5471 The keyless entry fob emits the unlock code. A code grabber device scans for the signal to unlock from 150' or more. You wait for someone to sleep, scan for the fob signal in their rig. I have been full-time off grid for over 19 years and solar panels are the way to go if you can find a way to do it you won’t be replacing batteries you won’t be making your RV neighbors crazy with a champion generator which is very very noisy.
Hey guys. Latch-it reached out and gave us a discount code to share for 20% off your entire cart. That's cheaper than we paid for ours! Just go to www.latchit.org and use NOP2021 code at checkout. We aren't currently affiliates but we wanted you to have the code to pass on the savings. 😁 It really was worth every penny. Thank you Latch-it!
You will need to check your batteries on your remote lock batteries often that are on your compartment storage locations. Remote lock in those locations are more prone to water/moisture corrosion damage if there is no slide or awning to block rain water running down on remote lock. You will see the corrosion in the battery compartment of remote lock.
Great, and for your next episode, a fold up wagon, their strong, light so easy to pull and turn , too good , too the lady who always brings in the grocries.
I had a black lab named cinder we boondocked everywhere all over Oregon in my 26 ft Toyota dolphin. She survived lung and heart cancer for six years with me as we traveled all over the place.
Nice pick with the champion generator. If you're having trouble running on gas try cleaning the carburetor maby try dumping a can of seafoam into it and see if that helps.
Hey guys. Love your content... if you could do a video about how you guys keep your faith fuel tank filled when you’re constantly on the move? Like, how do you keep up with community/fellowship? Do you attend a new church every time you go to a new assignment? Getting ready to travel nurse and this is a concern of my current pastor.
We live 6 hours from our church. Covid and Q etc. totally changed our lives especially regarding church in our area. We searched for a church back where we used to live and found a good one. We have Bible study by Zoom! And two services are live streamed. I will be glad when we can meet in person. They have everything super secure. I will make that town our home base as we travel. You can PM me and i will give the online address.
I have been leery about making ice from water in the tank. I don’t drink the water because I’m afraid of bacteria and getting sick. Showers and brushing teeth only.
We run across folks who don't use theirs - that's cool, each to their own. I imagine that we didn't think much about it initially because we were using it from the get-go. We drink, make ice, and cook with the fresh tank when boondocking. I think it would get to be too much of a hassle if we didn't because of all the bottled water we would need; also expensive. When hooked up at a campsite it runs through the same lines. I figure if I clean and sterilize the fresh tank then we should be good. No one has gotten sick from it in three years that we can tell. Also, we're very strict about only putting potable water in there. Thanks for watching!
Carb is probably getting gummed up. Start button sounds like a fairly easy fix. Probably just the switch itself or a loose wire or maybe needs a new starter battery.
Totally agree on the ice maker, one of the best $100 spends we've done wrt to camping. Definitely gonna look into the Latchit! and maybe eventually the upgraded fan. Thanks.
In my opinion, using a bucket is infinitely more convenient. Having to dump an RV is such a pain. I feel like the whole point of an RV is lost in most RVs.
I went a bit crazy with a LiFePO4 power system with a generator backup and solar charging. It took time and money but worth every single hour and dollar. We effectively have indefinite power and very rarely need to run the super annoying generator. I run the 15k BTU A/C on battery. I run the coffee maker and microwave - all in the middle of nowhere. Freedom.
I got that lock, after buying and returning 2 other brands, I purchased this one even though it cost more because of the material (metal) and because the flexibility of the PIN number. I LOVE it! The only problem I’ve ever had was during a severe rainstorm with the rain blowing sideways and I guess it got inside a bit. The alarm was going off, but once it dried out, it worked like a charm. I love not having to carry keys with me when I’m riding my horse!
We have that same ice maker and I agree that it works good. We also pack ice in the freezer. Hey I can see my reflection in your glasses and I must say I might need to put on some weight. :)
Hey guys, check out Level Mate Pro by Logic Blue! It makes camper leveling through the phone app and Bluetooth a breeze!! Great video! I too have an ice maker.... mmmm MARGARITAS!!! Probably thousands more spent on gadgets but those are my favorites!
New sub here. Great video. Love that you mentioned you took away your kids electronics and they play well. As empty nesters we applaud you managing your kids electronics. So good to see parenting done with purpose. Also as future rvers this is a good list to consider.
Thanks for the sub! We did a 30 day electronic fast and the results were awesome. We do let them have them now especially on travel days but we won't hesitate to fast again if they become a problem. We want them to be interested in the world around them in a hands on way. Thanks for watching!
@@NoOrdinaryPath great plan. Parenting is not for the weak at heart. And what works on one may not work on the other. I am so thankful for the experience of being a parent. We are now parents of adults and are so blessed. It is so good to have an adult child come and pray foe me.
It amazes me how many people do not leave their truck plugged into their trailer while they're camped! I lived in my trailer for 4 years and I left the truck plugged into it every night I drove it a few minutes each day to charge the batteries on the truck which would charge the batteries on the trailer. All night I would leave the truck plugged in and I would use the lights in the trailer, I would use the water pump, I would use my 12 volt TV all evening and a 12 volt fan blowing on me all night long in hot weather. I'd use the fan on the on the heater when it got colder and my batteries never went low! Two batteries on the truck and one on the trailer and I never had to replace any of them!!! I love having 12 volt appliances in my trailer! There's lots and lots of 12 volt appliances on the market designed to run in cars and trucks and trailers and RVs and boats and anything else like that. And if you need more places to plug in those 12 volt appliances you have 12 volt light fixtures throughout your RV and you can wire in a 12 volt outlet right next to the 12 volt light fixture and have those all over your RV easily accessible!!! And if you're going to have several more batteries added to that that are high capacity batteries you won't have to start your truck nearly as often maybe just a couple times a week to charge the batteries!
We did occasionally but John has a full time job away from rig and even while plugged into the truck, it was not enough energy to run things. Perhaps we need to get more 12 volt appliances. : )
You need to re-try to use your remote for your fantastic fan but it requires specific training to communicate with it and then they work great. There should’ve been instructions and if not contact fantastic fan and get the instructions
That is just too funny! YES, only every time our 8 year old son goes outside, he grabs a sick and starts swinging it around... and if there is another kid out there with him, they are both swinging them! What is it with the sticks?!?! If it's not a stick, it's a tent pole or a golf club! Lol!
Ignore the haters, y’all are genuine! We have been full-timing for 7 months with our 3 kids (and 1 dog 😉).... I get it! Definitely adding the ice maker to my Amazon cart right now! Thanks for recs!
Yes generator is a must have for us. Wait, 6 volt batteries are better than having 12 v? Gonna have to look into that. Oh yes, I would love to get a fantastic fan installed. Maybe we'll plunge into that one day.
Awesome tips for campers! Very useful. But here's a small tip... Turn your music down about 200x notches, blasting my speakers! Unnecessary, but still good video!
We have thought about getting an ice maker! We both love ice so much and don't know how we are going to live without ice once we get our RV! $120 seems like a nice price as we have seen them upwards of $400 or more! Thanks for sharing! ~ Shion and Matthew
Definitely get one! I used mine a couple times at home to get used to it and have since used it camping. Love love love having ice available 24/7! Best wishes to you
I've been researching generators, I think that Champion doesn't start on gasoline because there's an electrically-actuated solenoid inside that controls a valve that shuts off the fuel, and there's an internal battery in the generator to run it. On top of that your pushbutton start doesn't work for the same reason, your battery inside the generator has gone bad and needs to be replaced. Can you run both your air conditoner and your microwave at the same time on that generator? That's my biggest hangup to buying one, I want to be able to do both at the same time.
Probably have ethanol globs in the carburetor... I'd bet that if you take it apart and clean the jets (look for RUclips instruction videos) you can get away without having to use propane to start the generator.
I missed this, but if it is a gas issue, try Sea Foam in your tank even before adding gas and in all of your gas cans. I recently started our home generator and was terrified it would never start. It had been 5 YEARS since i.had started it! I had always put Sea Foam in and again a bit more before adding more gas. 3 pulls and off it went! I use it in every gas engine before adding gas.
Just a thing, for all that money spent on a generator\batteries, with just a tad more you could have gotten a basic solar setup done easily and not have to worry about power, and can expand on it later.
But then I wouldn't have the other things. 🤷😄 I hear you. The thing is we always kept saying to ourselves "oh we're almost done so we don't want to spend the money" Hindsight 20/20. :)
@@NoOrdinaryPath Ah I see, okay, well never mind me lol. Me and my wife live in an RV fulltime and have been overhauling it, solar is one of our next projects.
That's awesome. We are thinking if getting a small system. But again we are in a place we aren't sure if we will keep this rig or get something else. Always something. Haha
You mentioned about trouble with boon docking. Can you please send me a note, either here or private, as to what happened. We’re considering joining boon dockers and your comment made us sit and listen. We’re looking for issues we could encounter. Thanks so much
We boondock a ton. Except on the East side of the country as it is hard to find places we can fit into there. I would say we probably boondock at least half the year or more added all together. It's a learning curve for sure but it's well worth it in our opinion. You can check out our free boondocking guide here that has TONS of information and resources from newbie tips to our exact process of finding spots and even a map with all the places (with reviews) that we've stayed. I have been full-time off grid for over 19 years and solar panels are the way to go if you can find a way to do it you won’t be replacing batteries you won’t be making your RV neighbors crazy with a champion generator which is very very noisy.
Working on it. :) That's a huge reason we boondock away from others.
We agree with the ice maker and Fantastic fan. We got both of them right away.
Definitely need to check this out!
Thank you both! 😁
Thank you and latch-it, you are both awesome! 😎
That’s awesome!! Will check it out! Glad to know they are family owned as well!
Bought it. Thanks.
We love our ice maker! 💕. No more going to the camp store and getting that huge bag that we don’t have room for, or need.
Yes! They are fantastic!
I'm 50 and I still like to play in the dirt. That hasn't changed at all.
Love it!
I have to install a fantastic fan in my RV. It came with a little 6" fan in the bath and that was it. Want one in the bath and in the bedroom.
You're really lucky that your kids like playing outside in nature, our generation (I'm in my 70s) were brought up that way.
They have a pretty good mix of outdoors and electronics I feel like 🥰
Might I suggest you try a honda inverter generator, it will run way longer and not fall apart
When it's time to replace we'll check it out. Thanks for the suggestion.
Did yall ground the generator?
We just bought one and learned that this is supposed to be done? Or is it? 🤔
Totally agree on the ice maker, one of the best $100 spends we've done wrt to camping. Definitely gonna look into the Latchit! and maybe eventually the upgraded fan. Thanks.
SEWER SOLUTION! best thing I ever bought, I can dump clean in my home clean out valve.
love the kids being kids in the background!!
Thanks!
I have a macerator. Never thought of using the portable tank to extend dry camping range. Fantastic fan and cover are awesome.
In my opinion, using a bucket is infinitely more convenient. Having to dump an RV is such a pain. I feel like the whole point of an RV is lost in most RVs.
@@MobileAura , well said
@@MobileAura RECREATION vehicle...RV,
going poop in a bucket doesn't sound like RECREATION.😂
The wen generators are awsome and the price mindblowingly cheap. 3 years on mine. Lots of hrs! Amazon has the 3100 watts ones.
Thanks! Got the latch it lock in my Amazon cart now! 😄
Yes, my kids do that constantly.
That's a good thing. ;)
Freedom.
Sounds fantastic! Someday for sure...
My top gadget that is 1000% worth every penny is my level mate pro. Makes leveling the rv a dream.
We have heard great things about those.
Did not know about LatchIt - only RVLock. LatchIt seems like such a better made product and I LOVE that the keypad is backlit. 🤩 Thanks for sharing!
No prob! They reached out to us and we will have a 20% off discount code very soon!
Great video. Thank you. Blessings
I love the macerator idea. On minute 5:38 I noticed your max air didn't have lap sealant. I think you needs some to keep the rain out.
woops. That is a fantastic fan not a max air.
It's sealed. I used a clip from our install video. Good catch though!
We have that same ice maker and I agree that it works good. We also pack ice in the freezer. Hey I can see my reflection in your glasses and I must say I might need to put on some weight. :)
Mine did the same thing. Had the carburetor clean and it fixed it. I can now start with gasoline on the first pull.
Love my ice maker!! Just ordered a max fan and going to check out that keyless lock. It’s on our list of upgrades😉 Neat video, thanks for sharing!
Thanks! We have wanted to check that out.
She really just said “Real talk Tuesday “
Imma steal that
Been using it for years. 🙌
I have the ice maker for my home bar that thing is a beast, Makes ice in about 4 min.
It isn't the right model. 🤷♀️
Keep living the good life yeah for yall
Thanks
Nice selection! I can’t argue with anything that made your list. Well done!
Thanks!
I recommend solar. It saves a lot of hassle. I go on a lot of trips without ever starting a generator.
It’s great if you have sun if you don’t you are fucked I have both
Yes generator is a must have for us. Wait, 6 volt batteries are better than having 12 v? Gonna have to look into that. Oh yes, I would love to get a fantastic fan installed. Maybe we'll plunge into that one day.
Two six volts wired together in series gives you a 12 volt system with almost twice the amp hours (longer battery run time)!
@@NoOrdinaryPath That's great info. I wasn't aware of that. Thank you.
Its really that the "golf cart" batteries are just made better. But go lithium if you can!
I have 380 w in panels and two 6v batteries wired to 12v. It rocks!
Great list and well done on the video....hope you do get some sponsors, you're a natural in front of the camera.
I appreciate that!
Cool. Thanks I’m going to buy some of your recommendations
Enjoy
Next generator check out Honda. As long as you maintain them they will last a long time
IMO solar panels>>> generators. Nothing that requires a generator is worth using for me. Honda i2000 if you have to have a gen.
Awesome tips for campers! Very useful. But here's a small tip... Turn your music down about 200x notches, blasting my speakers! Unnecessary, but still good video!
Thanks for the video. I enjoyed it.
Glad to hear it!
Best wishes to you
@@jodybogdanovich4333 Thank you so much! :-)
That is a great observation and might just be spot on. We'll fix it some day. As for the microwave and AC...nope. One or the other. 🤷♀️
Might need a new starter battery too.
Damn ethanol rules!
The latchit ,if I only knew about that before I bought these new door locks i wonder if they have a finger print scan access pad.
No finger access but they are pretty nice.
Thank you for the video.
Ooooo! the Latch It sounds awesome! I'm looking into right now and I also let them know that I heard about them from you. :)
Good information on those products. 👍
Loving the RV latch!
I have fond memories of my fan-tastic fan. I had it ten years ago, and only paid half as much for it. 😎
Everything is so expensive these days!
Awesome video ,, very helpful,,thank you 😎🤘
Glad you found it helpful :)
I went through 3 flojets. They do not last. Try the American Adventure maceration on Amazon. Stronger motor, longer warranty. Much more reliable and they stand behind their product.
Interesting. I'm sorry that happened. We use it often and so far so good. It's always good to have other options though. Thanks for sharing.
Yes my kids and grand kids will run, climb trees, play with rocks, sticks, dirt and use their imagination when electronics are taken away
