I replaced my 12 volt pump with a 110 volt, so when I unplug the water pump is shut down. Will have to consider that when I finally get my whole house solar and batteries system installed.
I'm pretty sure this isn't a mistake we'll make again. 😂 And congrats on 572 days! Why do I imagine something on the fridge where you change the number each day like I used to do counting down the days to summer break?? 😁 -J

Honestly, I think you both handled that so well. I could hear the stress in your voice, but for both of you to hold it together like you did. Good on you two. Be proud, that was tough to deal with.
This one wasn't as hard for me to watch as fixing the truck in North Dakota. I could really see myself "breaking down" (for lack of a better word) in that one. This time around I felt like we both were able to process, assess, and move on pretty quickly all things considered. Kalyn was just so shot from a day of filming (it really wears her out since she bears pretty much all of the creative burden on filming days) so I was super proud of her when she was able to move forward so quickly. I just wish I had been a tiny bit more patient. "We've gotta get on this" probably wasn't what she needed from me most in that moment. 😂 -J
It's got it's ups and downs! Better if you don't create your own downs by stupid mistakes like this one but however they happen, just get up, dust yourself off and keep on a rollin! -J
Thanks so much. Always takes some time to catch your breath, assess, and get rolling but generally once we get rolling we can move forward pretty quickly. -J
We always turned the water pump off. The other thing was to make sure the faucet was over the sink. Of all of the calamities we have met in 30 years of RV life, we never had to deal with a flooded RV.
That's awesome! We have probably turned it off 90% of the time. What's crazy to me is even with it off we have never come in and had the faucet turned on. Like...when we turn on the pump we've never had water start coming out of a faucet. Crazy to me how that happened! -J
We did the same thing a few years back. We came back to our B+ to see water pouring out of our basement (we were hooked up to a water supply). Fortunately everything from our gray tank went down and nothing upstairs got wet like you guys. Everything dried out, no damage. Love your videos.
@@OpenRoading No, it's the little things in life that give the greatest joys and makes the longest memories. You'll know that when you get old like me. I am glad to see you both are real and that comes through in the videos.
Still can’t believe that happened! 😩 but also, a round of applause for your high quality and apparently water tight drawers (can’t believe it held all the water!)
Right!? Whoever built that drawer deserves a medal! 😂 Still laugh at the exchange of texts between Victoria and Kalyn that day as ya’ll had your own drama to deal with. -J
It's videos like this that help others. Love how you guys are supportive of each other. One upset, the other supportive. Keep it up, you will have a wonderful life. Not only does it help others not to make the same mistake, but it inspires others on how to treat each other.
Thanks so much! I'd love to say that we're perfect. We're not. Like everyone we have our moments of miscommunication or harsh words - but after 17 years we're still growing and that's all that matters! -J
I just hate seeing Kalyn so upset but I love how you two handle adversity. So kind to each other. Glad everything worked out better than it looked like it would in the beginning. I like the happy sunset ending 😊❤
We were so happy to get a sunset... allbiet a muted one when it came to colors. We had a very quick "Are we filming this or just telling people after the fact" exchange all while still processing the emotions but since we do our best to show real life, even when it's our own mistakes that got us there, and we were already filming we decided to just keep the video rolling. It's always different to process with a camera present, but it was the real us. I have to say...I think more people should run a camera during something like this if for no other reason than to listen to themselves. I thought my tone was a lot more patient until I listened back to it. I was like "Whoah... could have slowed down just a little to let Kalyn process there a little more, Joseph. sheesh" 😂
@@OpenRoadingI think you did fine. Both of your emotions were running pretty high. And you taught me something. I’m sure I’ve driven with the water pump on in my RV many times. It’s a Class C so I think I’d notice the kitchen sink flooding but not the bathroom or shower. So thank you for keeping it real and sharing a cautionary tale. So happy to be part of your community ❤
For the most part! I do think there may be something that will show up on the side above the tire eventually. I couldn't really get into there without ripping things apart. So I'm going to keep my eye on that - otherwise, could have been so much worse! -J
Y’all did a great job getting your rig back in working order! My heart was just hurting for y’all. I had no idea there was a petrified forest at TRNF! What a fantastic hike and find!!! Thanks again for taking us with you!!!
And we knew it was there...but could never find it. 😂 We both liked it better (when it comes to petrified trees) than the actual Petrified National Forest National Park. 😮 -J
If it's any consolation - we have a 2023 Classic Airstream. Top of the line everything, and yet it NEVER FAILS - my NEW and VERY FIRST job when we get to our campsite is to ALWAYS check the kitchen facet before hooking up. WHY? because 3 times since we have had it... I have walked inside after my husband hooked the water up is to find running water all over the place from you guessed it the KITCHEN FACET... such a sinking feeling (pun intended to bring a smile to your face after this horrible accident). I am so glad it wasn't worse than it was and your / your husbands quick thinking made for a save that while costly, spared a bigger expense. Love your channel!!
Thanks so much. I don’t know how much we were saved by moving quickly vs the fact that it was the faucet and not a plumbing leak. Could have been so much worse!! Won’t be making this mistake again in the future!! (And thanks for the pun 😂) -J
I'm so sorry this happened to you! You are not alone, others have learned the hard way of forgetting to turn off the water pump. In fact. I think I remember Phil and Stacy from Today is Someday had their shower turn in while driving. We haven't had the water pump issue, but we used to store a taller storage tower in our shower when traveling. When we hooked up to city water at the campground we found out that the bumpy roads had made the tower jump up and broke the cold water shower knob. Water was spraying out of it, but luckily our shower doors were closed and no damage was done. Now in addition to lessons learned from others about turning off the water pump, we also don't travel with large/tall items in the shower and make sure that someone is inside checking all the water faucets when we hook up the city water.
Thank you thank you thank you! We’re relatively new to RVing and I’m still learning so much- like the importance of turning the water pump off. Priceless. Love you guys!
Handled the flood like pros. It's never fun to deal with water leaks no matter the home. Thank you for continuing to share your journey, good and bad. Safe travels ❤
My husband and I have a dream of van life, not permanently, but just a few months of the year, touring this gorgeous country of ours. You guys do a great job on your channel and it’s fun to experience travels through your eyes when we are itching to do traveling ourselves but just aren’t in a position to do so yet. Glad your ‘flood’ ended up being relatively minor.
I hope you get to live out that dream! And yes, I'm glad in the grand scheme of things that this was not as bad as it could have been! Between where the water ended up and the hot and dry temps I think we were super lucky. I'm sure there is some water that snuck into some places that will have some consequences down the road but hopefully we'll be able to get a new rig or make major renovations before it become a problem. -J
Glad the water damage was not as bad as the last video looked. Was worried some how your fresh cracked down the side. Anyone could forget and leave water pump on. Good lesson for us. Great video.
Oh man - a cracked fresh tank would stink BUT it's under our rig so if that happens it's a mess underneath but (and I have no experience with this so I could be wrong) it doesn't seem like it should do much of anything above it. -J
My geometry teacher used to say, "Take everything as a unique and wonderful learning experience" and she had her left forearm cut off in a car accident when she was younger. Various perspectives are very important
That is a great way of looking at life. I've found that generally people who go through traumatic experiences fall into two camps - resignation or inspiration. I hope that if I'm ever faced with something life changing like that I fall into the latter group. -J
First- great video! Love it when folks recognize the value of solitude. And “B “ - congratulations on completing a really fun year of success creating content and finding your footing on RUclips! What a pleasure watching you two get through so much by working together and being so loving to one another. You have an amazing charm together. I loved it! 🌷
I'm glad it was limited in scope and that you didn't have 60 gallons of water dispersed throughout the rig. Its easy to forget a normal step when making a quick stop for the potty or lunch. The way you both handled the issue - together - speaks volumes on your relationship, even if edited for your viewers.
Thanks so much. While edited there wasn’t any yelling or anger to edit out. Just the normal editing to get a 3 hour process down to a couple of minutes. 🙂 -J
Hey guys! This weeks video brought back some memories of our water issue. Dropped our rv at a local racetrack to be therefor the following weekend. Little did we know that the roads had broken a drain valve on our freshwater tank that was located under the sofa. We get back to the rv a week later and all 40 gallons of water is now in the living room! Made for eventful weekend. Glad to see you guys made the best of it. Also your hunt for the stump was just great. Really enjoy you guys. Safe travels!
Oh man!!! That just sounds awful. It's funny how some of the most extreme circumstances will stick out as "forever memories" though. I know this one is going to stick with us! -J
Ahhh, the highlights of full-timing...a flooded rv!!! I remember those days! We're apartment dwellers now. You guys are a joy to watch, and I'm always looking forward to your videos! Stay safe and have fun!!😊❤
No way around it - opening your door to that flood is just awful! But Joe, your sweet reaction to Kalyn’s very understandable emotions and your calm energy pushing you both forward to address the problem, that says so much about your character! And Kalyn too, putting her feelings aside to get to work - you two are the best kind of partners!
So kind of you. It was interesting to watch because I heard tone in my voice that i didn't know I had. I heard some patience...but what needed to be slightly more patience. 👀 We could have waited another minute before rolling up our sleeves. -J
I have been there also but it was in a rented townhouse. I came home from working away for month and the lower ground level was flooded from a pin hole leak under the kitchen sink. It was also Christmas Eve 😮. I had to get an emergency carpet cleaner in the try and suck the wall to wall carpet dry. Some of my furniture still has a water mark from that. 😊
You guys absolutely did the right thing by tearing out the wet carpet! It would have destroyed the plywood underneath and likely would have gotten moldy in a few days! 😮 😀
The exact same thing happened to us! We of course double check to make sure our 12v pump is off AND we now keep a rubber band on the faucet and handle to ensure it cannot open while traveling. It should dry out just fine. Best of luck!
Aside from turning off the pump, we keep an elastic band on the faucet and secure the handle when traveling. Thanks for the video, and so sorry that you had the water issue.
I have been on the road this past week on my way out to Arizona for the winter. I had a very similar thing happen although my pump was turned off. I left my Insta pot on the counter. It slid over to the faucet turned on the handle, and there was enough water left in the pipes to completely drowned the plant that I left sitting down in the sink, lol it’s always something with these RVs. Loved the video. Glad that you visited the petrified forest. I was there many years ago. Kudos to finding the tree that you were looking for.❤
They even made it harder by making the tree backwards on the sign!!!! We did it in hard mode. LOL I still can't figure out exactly how our handle came on. Vibration makes the most sense in our case, but it didn't open on McCarthy road...seems like that could have done it. 🤔 -J
Nice trick! I have a small bungee that would do the trick. It's soo weird to me because no valve has ever opened on us in 5 years...so I guess we were due. lol -J
I keep an elastic hair tie on our kitchen faucet and right before we hit the road I put it over the handle to hold it closed just in case we foget to turn the water pump off. Bathroom stops are so easy to forget to turn water pump back off. During breakdown it is on your checklist but sometimes bathroom breaks are quick stops in not so ideal conditions and it is so easy to overlook.
When you did the cliffhanger in last weeks episode I wasn't sure how to react. I am so sorry this happened. I am glad the damage seemed to be less than expected.
Hi , So glad to see that you were able to fix the water situation, always the little things that cause so much grief, a tap handle !! together you just get on with what ever gets thrown your way , thanks for keeping it real , was nice to see a smile on Kalyn face . Aussie Fan 💜
So I have one of those reusable zip ties or large twisty thingy (official name I’m sure!) and I used that to hold my faucet and handle together. I had 13 gallons of fresh water fill my 13 gallon grey tank… lesson learned. And yes, it was an accidental leaving on the pump at a stop. Your reaction was completely honest and exactly how I felt. Luckily you have each other to power through the dips in the road
Thank you. This was a very weird situation for us to film so I appreciate this. Through the emotion we both were like "Do we film this?" We decided to primarily just put the camera on a tripod while we processed - but we didn't want to fake anything but we also wanted our real reactions. And yes, having each other to lean on is vital. -J
It happens. In this case it was our own darn fault which are kinda the worst ones. LOL. Hey - do you have a specific contact at that truck dealership? I reached out via their contact form after watching your video but never heard back. We're in the market and would love to be connected with a salesperson with a good track record. 😁 -J

I am so sorry you had that problem. I hope everything is alright now. On our last trip, we evacuated for hurricane Milton, our inverter quit working. ☹️

It's OK. He obviously likes the channel more than he lets on. Only super fans leave multiple comments in my experience. 😁 The chairs are great! They are from Canadian Tire (if you hadn't already asked and been answered...I can't remember who asked...lol) -J
So sorry for the water problem. Man there is always something isn't there! Love the new chair. Ours are nearing their end and I am encited to get something new.
We turn off our water pump EVERY SINGLE time we travel, leave the RV, walk out for more than 5 min lol. We don’t stay hooked up to water either. Just fill the tank. That way it’s easy to just shut the water off with the water pump switch on way out. Glad to see it wasn’t as bad as it could have been!
Glad to see the damage wasn’t bad! The sound of her voice when you first opened the door was tough to hear. With the oil change recommend getting a fumoto drain valve to replace oil drain plug. Way less messy! I have a powerstroke as well and the oil can shoot out.
I had a similar experience here on the boat. After a rough day in the ocean, I pulled into a marina and had a puddle of water on the cabin floor. Somehow, the faucet spun itself around from over the sink and the valve opened. Fortunately, the water pump was off and it was just what the expansion tank had in it. It baffled me for days how that could have happened. Finally chalked it up to engine vibration, rough seas and dumb luck.
I don't know Joseph I think she really wants the carpet replaced. You know have the cleanest RV of that age out boondocking. Glad you 4 are safe and healthy.
What a mess, but oh boy. So thankful it wasn't worse! The kids said your RV looks very nice - even after tearing out the carpet! Also "Moooove over" was Nathan’s favorite pun of the video! 😂
Oh gosh! So sorry that happened. Nothing worse than discovering a mishap after a long day of travel. We had most all of the contents of our frig fall out during travel one time. Omg, what a mess!
Another tidbit of advice for the future: Always shut off the water tank heater after heating up for shower use or dishwashing. Even if your RV is equipped with the new hot water on demand then use the same precautions and shut that puppy down after use. Post-it notes got me into that habit. I've seen so many old-school eater heater vents with burn marks because they left it on indefinitely...
Looks good you guys great job, and I concur with the comment about how important communication is in life, work, family wife and neighbor 👍❤️❤️ the tour of North Dakota is awesome thanks 🙏🏻 you guys ❤
Goodness “surprises” like that can totally ruin your day. But like others have said, how you two took care of the problem and especially each other. So inspiring! I learned from YT videos to turn the water pump off. ....at 67 years old skip the mental drama and address the problem. You two did that.....bright side is it made great content 👍 ....you both love each other is all that matters. ❤
I learned the hard way too--but the water pump only pumped out about 10 gallons before I heard it while driving--after that I turned off the water pump every time I was done with the water--every time!!
So sorry this happened, but what I see is a Rv that’s well constructed with plywood and not CDX or particle board. Life is an adventure and y’all are living it. So glad Joe got his projects done you need to get a dehumidifier it will help dry the camper out. Really enjoy your videos, Joe don’t forget the color matched caulk it’s yours when you want it. I can ship it or if you’re on I-95 coming through Georgia you can pick it up!
@@OpenRoading I was so glad when you realized it was fresh water ... MUCH easier to clean up than any other ... We had our black tank back up thru the roof vent - needed new flooring thru out the RV. What a mess to clean up - But we made it and now have one more story to laugh about :-)
Yep! 1 day at a time. Stuff stinks but you just work through it and keep moving forward. Ultimately - this could have been a lot worse than it was and we're so grateful. -J
We had that happen before with the kitchen faucet. We started tying the handle to the faucet, just in case we left the pump on. But it happens, and you handled it well.❤ Also, you can get a short hose and a funnel for that bottle water dispenser.
I was using one of the spouts from the water dispenser but the flow was soooooo eternally slow that there was just no waiting 2 hours to get everything filled. 😂 -J
Oh no you guys! That happened to me! Did not realize the importance of turning off pump. A speaker fell off window thing, hit handle on faucet and tripped outlet that I had to replace and determine nuance of basic gfc outlet. Ugh! Not as bad as y'all's so sympathize with you's! 🙏
Traveling Robert left their water pump switch turned on driving back down the Dalton from Arctic Circle and the rough road turned their faucet on. Filled their gray tank but luckily did not overflow in their camper. They had to make do with a full gray tank and no place to dump until they got back to Fairbanks. I always try to be sure my pump is turned off when traveling.
Happened to us a few years ago, now I stretch a rubber band from the neck of the fawcett around the on/off handle when we put it in travel mode. It's too easy to forget about the water pump.
When I saw the end of your last episode, I knew exactly what happened because we had it happen to us. We were more fortunate than you that the faucet stayed over the sink. While we were driving, we completely emptied our freshwater tank into the gray water tank and only had some splashing on the floor. Since then, we actually place a hair tie elastic between the faucet and the handle to make sure that it does not vibrate open, but we also try to remember to turn off the water pump when we leave in the morning, but have forgotten it when we’ve done a washroom break. But having that hair tie between the faucet and the handle gives us that extra layer of safety.
Another good one. I just looked left to Paul and asked if he turned the pump off after a potty break. 😮 We are on our second travel day on the way south again. ❤️
I’m so glad the water situation was resolved easier than I was expecting. 🎉. I have a question about boondocking. How do you keep your things and trailer secure when you leave the trailer to go into town. It may not be an issue for 5th wheels, but I imagine a trailer could be stolen when the owner is gone.
So....Safety. We've boondocked for 5 years and haven't had anything stolen. If someone is going to steal a trailer or a 5th wheel they can do so. They make locks that you can put in the hitch of a trailer or around the pin of a 5th wheel that prevents it from getting hooked up if you are afraid of someone taking the entire rig. Outright RV theft is not common. It can happen... but it's not common. We trust our gut at various boondocking spots and as we've done this for longer I think we've gotten even better at understanding if a place is truly "sketchy" or not. As to the stuff in your RV.... it's the same as a house...locks just keep the lazy thieves out. If someone is dead set on stealing your stuff...they're gonna do it. We lock everything up and so far in 5 years we've had no instances of theft. It could happen tomorrow...or it might never happen. Terrible answer I know... but I think the short answer is, rural boondocking spots aren't actually as unsafe as people think they are. Sure, not as much traffic so a thief might not get caught...but also... fewer people driving by to even know you are there. 🤷🏼 -J
RV foods happened to me 3 times, twice due to water lines issues when I just bought the rig, another time after hail busted out the fan cover. Luckily my motorhome was designed to just shed water and no damage happened, vinyl floor is vacuum bonded to subfloor and I just use small rags in top. I got Max Air vent covers to protect from hail or pine cones busting fan covers out.
Oh no guys!!!! I am so sorry. We always try to remember to turn off the water pump whenever we travel or leave the trailer. Even for a walk. But honestly we forget all the time. Gosh this sucks!!!!
We always tried to remember too. LOL I don't think we will forget now. 😂 It's so weird to me because never have we ever had a sink valve open in transit. Ever. Would love to know how that happened. -J
Goodness you two, I'm so sorry that happened and must have been so stressful. This is education for us soon to be full-timers. An interesting event that the vibration and the kitchen spigot turned your day inside out! You both show a great deal of character and hope to meet you someday next year. Travel Safe and thank you for the great information on this boondocking spot. It does look beautiful!
Thanks. It's all part of life - ups and downs! I forget who said it but it's always stuck with me - you can't control what happens to you (Although in this case it was our mistake... LOL) but you can control your response. -J
Sorry about the flood experience. Same thing happened to us several years ago. I forgot to use antifreeze on the outdoor hose and the Y point connected to the black tank clean out hose and was under the bathroom sink. We didn't know until we tried to do clean out on the black tank on our first trip when we were done camping and Water started coming out our front door because we couldn't figure out why it wasn't draining out the black valve. Really sucked to have that happen at the campgrounds dump station as we were leaving

Love how you guys pivot! RV-ing is not for the weak!
It's got it's ups and downs! Better if you don't create your own downs by stupid mistakes like this one but however they happen, just get up, dust yourself off and keep on a rollin! -J
Wasn’t your fault sweetie.
It’s been a long week - but finally it’s time to relax with another vlog from Kalyn and Joe!
Glad to be the signal to a hopefully less stressful weekend! -J
Both myself and the wife did our Covid boosters this week - my oh my, it was rougher than your trip on McCarthy Road!
@@RachelAmbler Oh man. Hate it when stuff knocks you off your feet. -J
@@RachelAmblerwhy?
@traci635 - why what?
You guys handled the crisis like pros. Awesome video!
Yup, pump off always. I turn it off anytime I leave the rv as well.
Google is always behind or info wrong
I was sickened for you when I saw all the water in your home 😢. But you both persevered and ended on a happy note. Very inspiring 😊
We did the same thing a few years back. We came back to our B+ to see water pouring out of our basement (we were hooked up to a water supply). Fortunately everything from our gray tank went down and nothing upstairs got wet like you guys. Everything dried out, no damage. Love your videos.
Disaster averted, everything worked out well. You finished with a sunset as you wanted on the previous video and you found your stump. Life is good.
We were a little too excited that we found our stump 😂 It's the little things that bring us a lot of joy I think. -J
Life is about learning from situations/istakes. Sorry you went through that but you are a blessing to everyone
It is indeed! I'll make a lot more so be sure to stick around. 😂 Thanks so much for the encouragement, we both appreciate it! -J
I’m so sorry that happened to you guys but it sure is a good reminder to all of us to make sure we turn off the water pump when traveling.
Yup. And when you forget you'll get away with it...until that one time that you don't. -J
So happy for you all that the damage is minimal and easily repaired!
I hadn't thought about faucets when you're hooking up. If somethings wrong there spray could be everywhere... 👀 -J
Thank you thank you thank you! We’re relatively new to RVing and I’m still learning so much- like the importance of turning the water pump off. Priceless. Love you guys!
I like to think that a fair bit of our videos fall into the "Don't do what we did" category. 😂 -J
Handled the flood like pros. It's never fun to deal with water leaks no matter the home. Thank you for continuing to share your journey, good and bad. Safe travels ❤
Thanks so much for watching each week! -J
I never thought about that happening. Thanks for sharing the warning. Sorry that happened.
No problem. It's crazy to us because we usually turn the pump off but even then, we have never had a faucet open up during travel. -J
My geometry teacher used to say,
"Take everything as a unique and wonderful learning experience"
and she had her left forearm cut off in a car accident when she was younger.
I believe I literally speak for THOUSANDS that are grateful you gave it one more chance! Here’s to infinity, or at least a dozen or so more years!
Thanks so much. I don't know that we can do infinity, but we'll take it a year at a time. 😃 -J
Even if you hadn't found THE stump, you found a veritable plethora of cool stumps. Kudos on solving the NP mystery!
We felt this trail had even more petrified wood than petrified forest national park! -J
Team work makes the dream work. You two working hard together saved a lot of damage. Good to see.
"I did not have this on my bingo card." I'm going to remember that one! Glad there was no major damage. y'all handled it well.
and if it is on your bingo card…I suggest finding a new bingo card. 😂 -J
Ahhh, the highlights of full-timing...a flooded rv!!! I remember those days! We're apartment dwellers now. You guys are a joy to watch, and I'm always looking forward to your videos! Stay safe and have fun!!😊❤
I THOUGHT THATS IT. IM SO SORRY FOR YOUR FLOOD IM GLAD YOU GOT THROUGH IT.. GET SOME REST LOVE YOU
Thanks so much! It could have been a lot worse and we were so lucky to have had hot and dry weather to help things dry out quickly. -J
And what a good team
You two are!!
Thanks! After 17 years I think we're starting to get the hang of this communication thing. 😁 -J
@ Yikes!!!! 😱
You guys absolutely did the right thing by tearing out the wet carpet! It would have destroyed the plywood underneath and likely would have gotten moldy in a few days! 😮 😀
As soon as I saw how soaked that pad was I knew that was the right call! -J
The exact same thing happened to us! We of course double check to make sure our 12v pump is off AND we now keep a rubber band on the faucet and handle to ensure it cannot open while traveling. It should dry out just fine. Best of luck!
So glad we have plywood instead of pressboards! -J
Sorry about your Flood. That is my wife and my favorite place . Love Teddy Roosevelt Nat'l park. Thanks for sharing. Safe Travels.
It's an overlooked park IMO! -J
Aside from turning off the pump, we keep an elastic band on the faucet and secure the handle when traveling. Thanks for the video, and so sorry that you had the water issue.
Thanks for watching! I don't think we'll ever forget the pump again! -J
LOL
I still can't figure out exactly how our handle came on. Vibration makes the most sense in our case, but it didn't open on McCarthy road...seems like that could have done it. 🤔 -J
Oh goodness, I am so sorry! I’m glad it wasn’t any worse than it was, but what a way to end a day.
As Adam Savage says... "Failure is always an option!"
Glad you guys were able to weather the the water pump issues. 🫨
Safe travels!
Love that! It's an honest quote. -J
Have been catching up on episodes since we returned home from Alaska.
So sorry about the flooding. We really enjoy your channel! God Bless!
Too late now, but I put a bungee on my sink lever. Mine always vibrates open. I dump the pressure before I drive and bungee the lever and pump OFF.
For sure for sure! -J
Keep smiling no matter what happens! I love watching your channel! You remind me of myself, if it can go wrong it will. Keep smiling!
Haha - what a terrible way to be alike 😂 -J
It’s a lesson learned, I had the same thing happen. Just gotta add “is the water pump off?” to the travel checklist.
We triple check it now. -J
Dang that sucked, but you two handled it masterfully. Thanks for sharing. Safe travels.
Thank you. We're very glad it wasn't as bad as we originally expected. -J
When you did the cliffhanger in last weeks episode I wasn't sure how to react. I am so sorry this happened. I am glad the damage seemed to be less than expected.
We've had that happen. We now make sure the water pump is off during travel, plus we put a big rubber band on the faucet handle.
Don't think we're ever gong to forget the water pump going forward. lol -J

I'm so sorry this happened to you guys! You two handled it well though.
Thank you. It could have been worse so we are grateful. -J
I’m so sorry you guys had to deal with that flood! Awesome job keeping your cool & dealing with it like a champ!
It happens. In this case it was our own darn fault which are kinda the worst ones. LOL. Hey - do you have a specific contact at that truck dealership? I reached out via their contact form after watching your video but never heard back. We're in the market and would love to be connected with a salesperson with a good track record. 😁 -J
@@OpenRoading Yes! James Warden is his name. Believe it or not, he was new but had a great team around him and they all did a good job. We are a bit finicky when it comes to sales people.

We love these chairs!! -J
Oh i remember the toilet running flooding the bathroom a couple times, great times 😢
Oh fun fun fun.... -J
Oh wow! And unexplained water in a boat.... a slightly bigger issue. 😂 -J
That was some good carpet. Mine still looked brand new after 15 years when I sold my Designer.
Ours no longer fits that description. 😂😂 -J
I don't know Joseph I think she really wants the carpet replaced. You know have the cleanest RV of that age out boondocking. Glad you 4 are safe and healthy.
Glad you put the “of that age” 😂 certainly not the cleanest one out there. -J
I just love your attitudes, and honesty. We all get to learn as you learn.
Thanks! Gonna try to stop learning the hard way sometime. 😂 -J
Oh. My. Word.
That would be awful!! It's one thing to clean up water... add things like milk... etc to the mix... 🤮 That could be reallly bad! -J
We aren't perfect communicators - but I think our 17 years has done well for us so far. Thanks so much for your kind words. -J
Clearing the counter thing! I love that!!! My boyfriend doesn't love it, but I can relate. 😂
Goodness “surprises” like that can totally ruin your day. But like others have said, how you two took care of the problem and especially each other. So inspiring! (I know I wouldn’t have wanted a camera rolling when we found water damage in our basement from our leaking dishwasher! 🫣) Love your channel, your excellent relationship, and your sense of adventure! This is why I also love being a member - if you’re thinking about it, join the community too - it’s awesome over here!
Thanks so much for watching and being an encouragement each week. It is tough to find the balance between filming and not through situations like this one but we wanted to do our best to bring people along as opposed to just relaying the story after the fact. -J
Good catch! Pretty sure we're not going to forget this ever again! -J
I'm so sorry this happened.
It's OK! Life is messy sometimes. 🙂 -J
Your videos keep getting better - thank you 🙂
Thank you! We prefer them to get better without drama. 😂 -J
@@OpenRoading I was so glad when you realized it was fresh water ... MUCH easier to clean up than any other ... We had our black tank back up thru the roof vent - needed new flooring thru out the RV. What a mess to clean up - But we made it and now have one more story to laugh about :-)
We love that boondocking spot and the hiking out to the petrified trees area.
It’s such a beautiful area!! -J
It sucksbut you will prevail and keep going on it happens don't let this stop you
Yep! 1 day at a time. Stuff stinks but you just work through it and keep moving forward. Ultimately - this could have been a lot worse than it was and we're so grateful. -J
We had that happen before with the kitchen faucet. We started tying the handle to the faucet, just in case we left the pump on. But it happens, and you handled it well.❤
Also, you can get a short hose and a funnel for that bottle water dispenser.
No fun!
We have 2 grays and unfortunately neither of them on their own can hold all the fresh water. -J
Happened to us a few years ago, now I stretch a rubber band from the neck of the fawcett around the on/off handle when we put it in travel mode. It's too easy to forget about the water pump.
Also, I was so worried about your RV. I am so happy that you were able to clean things up and it worked out. Looks like pretty good.
I love you guys! You live and learn in an RV! Sorry this had to happen to y’all!
Thanks! It's OK. It was our fault for leaving the pump on. Live and learn! -J
So sorry that happened. My Heart went out to You as I watched ur video.
@@OpenRoading thanks. This does help me to think about boondocking in the future. No one has ever addressed this in the videos that I’ve seen.
It's so weird to me because never have we ever had a sink valve open in transit. Ever. Would love to know how that happened. -J
Divine intervention!😊@@OpenRoading
Goodness you two, I'm so sorry that happened and must have been so stressful. This is education for us soon to be full-timers. An interesting event that the vibration and the kitchen spigot turned your day inside out! You both show a great deal of character and hope to meet you someday next year. Travel Safe and thank you for the great information on this boondocking spot. It does look beautiful!
So sorry you had to go through that. 😢
Sorry that happened to you guys. We use a hair tie to secure the faucet handle. Stay safe.
Thanks. Yeah, I don’t think we’ll ever be forgetting to shut that pump off again. -J
