Similar situation here, although I have seen to occasional tracked machine slip over the side. When I winterise things I just blow through with low pressure air opening and closing each tap/drain as I go. No crappy antifreeze to rinse out that way.
@@TheJustin574 depending on where they are 160000 isn't unreasonable. I work in logistics in Automotive Tool & Die, and in the state of Michigan a properly registered semi can weight up to 164,000 lbs spread over 11 axels without a permit, so an 80 ton is reasonable (and exceptionally common in my case)
Yes, the repair videos would be interesting to watch... It's always an adventure working by yourself.... Good job getting it back upright without even more damage...
Man oh man. That tip over could have been a lot worse. Great job on getting it back on the trailer! And yes, some video on repairs would be great. Thank you Dustin and God bless!
Considering the amount of damage that could have resulted from falling off the trailer,it was fairly light and easily fixable. Great buy and definitely video the repairs.
Those things are made cheaply. Unless the skin was removed, or it was checked to the "stud" level. he has no idea the damage it suffered. And likely won't care. They frame them with 1x1s a lot of times. Soft woods too. Any roof leak means you likely have deep mold in it.
That ratchet strap that caught on the left fender of the trailer while you pulled the camper the rest of the way upright likely saved it from bouncing off the right side after touchdown. It also pulled the crushed fender up and off the tires too. I would claim that was your plan since it worked out perfectly. ;-)
yes want to see the repairs and what about microwave/air Friar combination unit? 24v with 600 or 800ah electrical system? Induction cooktop? Gasoline/diesel heater? 12v refrigerator? Increasing solar panels and solar charge controller? Maximize rooftop solar panels and enough for some portable panels? Essentially eliminating the need for propane if possible? Election water heater? Truck charging with DC to DC module? Thanks and have a great day
Damn bro that was a great video. I liked how you kept yourself pretty calm and head on your shoulders. I wound have been curled up in a ball crying on the dirt ground for about 2 hours then I’d walk around pacing wondering how I’m going to explain it to my wife. Then I would have called a mobile crane guy and over pay him to get it upright. Then hire someone tomorrow to charge me way too much to transport it to my house. Then avoid eye contact with my family for a few weeks and one day go inside it and think about getting it ready for sale. 😂❤

your one hell of a guy keep up the good work and hell yeah congrats on the awesome new camper thats gonna be one hell of an awesome resale it can really go good towards your camper and brewing business this new motorhome you speak of is exciting i wonder what you got
You got lucky on the purchase price, the jacks being included AND the minimal damage from tipping the camper over. I hope you'll show us the repair process. PLEASE show us the ratchet strap trick your wife showed you. I have been using zip ties to secure the loose ends.
Love the Chieftan in the background of your opening. Many good memories vacationing in one with my family/grandparents as a child! Nice looking slide-in unit, short of the self-inflicted oopsie!
its possible that strap that caught the fender may have been a blessing stopping it from tipping over on the other side. maybe maybe not we'll never know. either way good job for being by yourself.
Can hardly wait for the Wild motor-home video, that's what got me hooked on your channel in the first place, although the beer factory pick-up was pretty wild too.
Dude wow good for you, your ability to stay so calm and still film the video after that incident wow i would have been off the deep end with it tipping .. good man
I wanted to comment on the Shadow Cruiser, you have on your pickup. I had three of them, 2 truck mounts and one fifth wheel. I loved those units, they were absolutely great. And like everything, that is made great, they sell out to another company, and either it turns into junk, or just plain disappears.
Check the inside of those fenders behind the wheels. We had the sheet metal popped loose and it scraped the inside rim of a tire and shredded it. Needs to be riveted.
Wow you where unlucky but also very lucky that you where not under it and hardly any damage done to the side. Love your vids watching here in EASTYORKSHIRE England.
Should be fixable. Check the roof for leaks make sure to seal it good. The rest is cosmetic. I thought it would flip on the other side when you were righting it. Keep the door just put an 1/8 inch veneer of plywood over it stained to match.
😊 Come on bro it didn't slip off you accidentally tipped it over with the trolley jack you had under the front, the camera was "turned off" at a very convenient time when that happened 😂. But nice work saving it and fortunately no major damage 👍
Thank you for your comment I fully agree with your comment - what a surprise NO footage of the camper tipping over. it's a pleasure to know that us viewers have more common sense to see BS when we see it..
I like to drain our water heater and bypass it so no antifreeze goes into it; it seems like it takes a couple of weeks of camping the following spring to get rid of the taste. Great video.
You are a lucky man, what an oh crap moment, that could have been bad. I was going to deal on a F 350 2012 with 40 k diesel for $35k flatbed until I heard a loading story of how a camper slipped off the side of a similar one and was sold for scrap for $100.00 OUCH!
I'm not a huge 'truck camper' fan but, I will say, good on Palomino(Forest River, isn't it?)... even while still laying on its side, sort of, I couldn't see any twist to the frame/structure. The interior/jack damage, can't be laid on them(that's all you. lol). That said.. open gate.. no one around.. locking up without verifying no one was in the compound.. letting folks maybe get injured with no supervision/assistance, etc, etc. ANYONE could have driven in, loaded up, and stolen your camper, or any other unit present. They are simply LUCKY, that you weren't injured.
Inflation crazy I remember my dad bought a brand new weekender 10 1/2 foot cabover camper it cost 1,800 dollars and a brand new Chevy pickup it was 2,100 out the door😊
If you keep buying these long term you need to build a couple of long gantry beams you can put under the campers to jack them up and back the trailer underneath.
I thought the same but it was already up on the trailer bed when it fell off, the camera was "turned off" at a very convenient time right as it fell over, my guess is that he accidentally tipped it over with the trolley jack that he had under the front end and he edited that bit out of the video.
You need a tilt deck trailer, that way the camper could have stayed level and the deck can come slowly down as the camper is winched on. The front end of the camper was too high causing it to be unstable as you were winching it on. Got lucky there wasn't any more damage.
Sorry that happened brother, I had extensions made for those jack brackets that push the jacks outside the trailer fenders. Then you can just back the trailer under it. It will make a nice rig I'm sure.
My heart was in my throat as the camper came back down on to the trailer, praise the Lord it did not bounce off the other side. Biggest rush I have had watching a youtube vid in many a year, thankyou brother.
Just curious how that’s works? So the yard or the auction house let you load on your own purchase? Do they offer for a fee fork lift, yard pay loader, sky lift?

I would like to see the repairs. Dodged a bullet on this one, Thanks for letting us come along.
Give the people what they want Dustin!
I would bet that strap that got caught on the fender prevented the camper from going over again. Great recovery being alone.
I wouldn't touch it with a 10 foot pole after falling the roof may not show hardly any damage. All campers are made cheap. It will leak!
I'm not sure how a rubber sheet would leak after falling over
@@LifeofLind
this coming from the guy that dumped a camper on its side!
Yep not touching that with a 10ft pole if its wood construction its fucked if its aluminum even worse with how shitty the factory welds are

thats true, i can afford to replace the strap haha

yeah light weight is good as long as all the weight loss isn't at the bottom haha, im sure all the missing appliance didn't help
Great rescue job on it men..perhaps some friend help you at the moment would be better results, all the best and nice camper for sure.

You did that, “it” didn’t do a damn thing 😅
Outstanding. May God richly bless...
Wow dude ! u were so lucky no one got hurt when that tipped over !! And no broken windows ??
What size truck would this cabover require?
Thought the water heater was to be drained, then bypassed when winterizing.
These on demand units don't have a tank and need to be winterized like the rest of the system

just look online for insurance salvage auctions. not for the faint of heart though, do your research !
