If the light is shining 24/7 the bio rhythm of the fish gets harmed, that causes stress and that’s the reason why his immune system will get weaker and then he’ll get sick faster and eventually die earlier

Pretty sure the potato does that itself! Cleaning it i mean, filtrates the fish poop and oxygenates the water.
