It doesn’t usually take that long, you can get a harvest within a few months of planting the cutting. His cutting was really small and its first vine died for some reason, and I imagine there isn’t much light in the room he films in.
@@thiccityd9773yeah, his vines keep dying. Usually one plant would have multiple at a time. Maybe coz it's in a pot? Those vines spread and then also grow their own tubers.
I knew this channel since it was small, but today it's growing bigger and I do love your video so much and everytime I watch the videos here, it teaches me how to be grateful for every foods that i eat everyday ❤
The issue is that continuously having a weight on a regular scale will usually damage the spring inside. Scales generally aren't made to withstand constant pressure but brief measurements.
This inspired me to try and plant my own yam plant. I followed these exact instructions, I started it in December and it’s thriving sooo well! My place gets a lot of light so I kept it indoors with warm temperatures with frequent yet mild watering when the soil dries out. It’s growing like crazy now in the spring time with more light during the day. Love these videos!
These time lapse videos are impressive! Can you please do a short behind the scenes video? I think you have many plants growing in parallel. But do you have multiple cameras filming the plants or do you switch one camera to different tripods and make a photo of each plant one after each other multiple times a day?
I didn't know you could get roots from the sprouting buds. Or that they were purplish. I don't like sweet potatoes tho i wonder if this method would work on other potatoes as well?
I really like your videos 😄😁, I have a question, but how do you make timelapse videos? Do you have to put the camera in front of the plant for 200 days and then speed it up?
I think he just records a few secs of video everyday. He puts it together and speeds it up, then you can see the movement happening. In reality, you cannot see this because it's so slow....
yes, but more importantly, room to grow and push the dirt aside as they expand. These little guys are actually a fair size considering their container. @@F0XD1E
@@F0XD1E The trick is to give them something to climb up. That results in more foliage and a bigger crop. Also, you don't cut off a shoot and force it to grow roots; you plant the entire potato. That provides the shoots coming off it a source of energy and again results in more foliage.
I've tried to do this before, but my potato slips were growing soooo slowly (took like 2 months to get 2 cm of growth) and it was difficult to prevent the potato from molding
Thank you for teaching me gardening
Videos like these saves everybody so much time. No Excuses
I had no idea it took basically a year to get a sweet 🥔 potato. You make it look so easy

It's kinda faster than that I guess
Maybe his variety of potato take longer to grow idk
Mine 100 days

@@thiccityd9773 Well yeah it tried to reach for the light but the stem was too weak and topple over, then it feel into a spot with less light and die.

Have you ever considered putting a scale at the bottom of the pot? It would be interesting how much mass it collects and retains from the water & air!

@@GamerdevilPro maybe he could just weight it once a day?
🎉 As always, so good! A fun project for the grandkids! Kiitos! 🇫🇮😎✌️

Nice, time-lapse, thank you for sharing
Amazing video, thanks for good feeling’s in the video
I'm actually disappointed the leaves don't stay purple, they look so pretty when they grow out from the potatoes.
In the Philippines we use the purple leaves for “sinigang”, so I didn’t expect them to become green instead 😭
They really do. You could keep them as a cascading houseplant as well.
Its just crazy that making this 2:37 minute video took him 273 days.
Each day a second
I like this...very dramatic!

How to turn a large sweet potato into two small sweet potatoes in just 237 days ☺️
Exactly :D
Makes me wonder how they grow the big ones in the first place. Tons of fertilizer?
more room in the ground perhaps, maybe even natural light as a guess?@@F0XD1E
