    I seldom comment but I look forward to a new episode every day and am enjoying following your trek. Hope your tooth gets better soon. I chuckled at the "insufficient coffee" comment ... I'd think that anything short of about a gallon would be considered insufficient by Matt standards lol.

    I don't know how you two do it....that one shot with the blazing sun ahead,silo on your right, endless road ahead looked very apocalyptic...Jens cross country mileage has to be increased by at least 1,000 for after stopping for night camp,she always chas to find a store or home to get water at.I don't think she knocks on door and says Hi I'm a professor Walking cross country comparing the ph of county waters, or I left my man slumped in a parched heap over yonder... could you spare some water...but she always returns smiling arms full of bottles of cold water Must feel nice after a long hot day.Great team work Matt has tent pitched, gear inside area policed and ready for dinner...sigh perhaps a traveling " Chuck wagon" , sag wagon or personal chef from a local restaurant cooking whatever your heart desires.Well just have to form an 501(c)3 organization to make it happen..At least you still are beautiful,the trail didn't make you mean and ornery

    Your tooth probably started bothering you again because the pressure dropped when what was left of the hurricane came through. Low pressure means more pain. Even the average weather system can cause it. It’s crazy they didn’t see an abscess because it just sounds like an abscess.

    Sinus pain that feels like tooth ache haunted me for years. I finally had some nasal polyps removed and that cured it for good. I still use nasal sprays and decongestants to help keep the airways clear. Good luck Matt.

    Before you mentioned them at the end, I was noticing in the clips you certainly had found the cicadas. They've popped out here in Indiana in the last week or so too.
    I don't know about Kansas, but here in Indiana, most often when grass crops such as wheat, barley, etc. have been harvested, farmers will plant a second crop of soy beans in the same fields for two crops per season.
    Matt, I hope the tooth pain has gotten to feeling better, tooth pain can be a miserable experience.

    Because of its hardness and durability it is perfect for making weapons like bows

      @@FirstChurchofTheMasochistHikes as a fairly new audiobook enthusiast, I'll have to 100% agree Wil Wheaton's dialect is annoying and unbearable, followed closely by Brent Spiner--love the actor, hate his audiobook. I'm currently listening to Project Hail Mary and Ray Porter is CRUSHING it. George Guidall's crown is in jeopardy.

      @goatcheese4me Hail Mary was awesome. if you haven’t listened to the Martian try and find the version done by RC Bray. They sadly re-recorded it with Wheaton which was of course a massive downgrade. I don’t think I’ve come across anything read by Spiner

    Been following channel since Mississippi River trip vids. I’m Mississippi riverboat captain, but live in Oklahoma City. I’ve had thoughts, since you started this trip, of meeting up and hiking or chatting, when you get to middle Kansas area, closest to me. I don’t want to hold up any progress, and as a fellow RUclipsr, I’m not sure how appropriate that would be. I would bring supplies, or anything that would be helpful or needed. Thoughts?

    Im thinking maybe an allergy attack . Sinuses maybe dont like something youre walking through. You never know how things are going to react. My suggestion is ibuprofen and/or Claritin or Allegra. Claritin works for a lot of people. It worked wonderfully for my hubby for about a month, and then he built up a tolerance to it, and it stopped working. Allegra still works.

    If you ever need words to describe the land/water you're passing through, the Missouri River is William Least Heat-Moon's territory. He's the bard of the Missouri the way Mark Twain is the bard of the Mississippi. He also does Kansas the way only someone from Missouri can do Kansas. As soon as you hit the Rockies, you're on your own. But that's starting to be your home territory anyway.

    Tooth pain bites. I hope you’re able to find another dentist, because (speaking as someone who worked in a dental office for a decade) the unfortunate truth is that sometimes a dying tooth doesn’t appear with an abscess on X-ray… :( So sorry that your hike is being interrupted like that.

    • @FirstChurchofTheMasochistHikes
      @FirstChurchofTheMasochistHikes  Месяц назад +1

      They did a pretty thorough exam in addition to the xray and talked through things with me pretty well so I at least have a fair amount of confidence in their diagnosis. I am keeping a close eye on it though
