I’m glad Taters has been with you throughout the mid-west. I think that you’d be camping in a culvert somewhere if she wasn’t there to make all those phone requests for you.
I remember being so impressed by municipal parks like that on my drive across the country. Some even had a few spots with hookups for RVs passing through. Even the smallest towns seemed to have them.
I am currently waiting for the results of a biopsy of a suspicious growth on my scalp. Good for you Jen keep applying that sunscreen. Subway strikes again hopefully you were better in the morning. 😎✌
Hope you’re feeling better! Coffee shop stops serving coffee at noon?? What the heck! Glad the mayor hooked you two up for the night - looks like a nice park!
Kudos to the Mayor of Wilsey! Called back, provided a place to stay, and unknowingly kept Matt from dying of dysentery, or snakebite, or river crossings, or whatever it is you westward travelers might die of! Hike on, Tortoise
Yall walked by several Dickcissels. They’re beautiful birds. I heard like 4 or 5 of them. I hope the birds don’t eat those red things with the pesticides.
Interestingly enough regarding the coated soy bean- in the seed mix, there will be a certain (small) percentage of seed that does not have the fungicide/pesticide on it. Those are colored differently and are used as sacrificial plants to ensure that the species being treated against is less likely to develop resistance to the fungicide/insecticide.
Good job choosing the quieter road. I agree with you that shortcutting goes against the spirit of a through hike, but choosing a better route that covers the same distance is legit. Having people follow a busy US hwy when better options were available is just plain bad route design.
Regarding the Soybean coloring - they do the same thing with corn seeds - we thought it was neat when we were kids that Dad let us plant "pink" sweet corn seeds!
Thanks for sharing the red soybean info. You both certainly roll with the punches.ascfar as accomodations..keeping that diet clean ,great job it not easy.Seems quite serene in its own way,but not sounds of crickets, katydids, or even many birds
Mayor? Who got the keys to the city? My guess is that it was Jen since she is the star of the show. Side note, Oregon Trail is how I learned basic programming. I changes all the text in it to make it a Star Trek theme. TOS! No Wesley! I'm old.
When I played Oregon Trail on the old Apple IIs I used to always name all of my characters after the bridge crew on the original Star Trek. Spock died of dysentery a whole heck of a lot.
I LOVE Raistlin! My favorite of all the Kryn characters. However Gandalf is not only Istari, he is a Maiar and therefore ununaliveable. P.S. Tolkien should have named him Oscar.
Just dont eat meatball subs lol! I can't recall have you mentioned there's an online map showing always available stops for trail hikers? If we had land near a trail we'd put a sign up designating an area for rest/sleep/water/foodies and give elec to charge a ph . Like a mini truck stop. That'd be fun I think. ! Hope you're better in next video!
There is Hiking America for the ADT which shows things that have been added by hikers. Sadly there is no generalized source for that sort of thing. I keep saying someone needs to make a trail magic app
Unfortunately, I have enough of a background in development to know how much it would cost timewise and money wise to do that well. And I really don’t have that sort of lifestyle anymore.
@@FirstChurchofTheMasochistHikes I know and you are happier now which is worth anything! We really look forward to your videos every morning..birdy says HI:)

The Sierras are 40 million years old. The Appalachian Mountains are 480 million years old. Amazing what effect an extra 440 million years of erosion can have. The two can not really be compared.
a couple of refills on their fountain machine ... I've heard those fountain machines can be ripe with pathogens actually, the ice maker in particular can descend into bacterial overgrowth. "Of the soda fountain drink dispensers that were swabbed, 41 percent tested positive for coliform bacteria, and 25 percent had a water temperature conducive to growing clusters of bacteria called biofilms" from Delish
that was my thought too. Soda machine or ice cubes for soda... Feel better sorry Jenn I laughed at your sunscreen face. :-). my friend put zinc on her kids at the beach.
This also crossed my mind. However most “food poisoning” type situations will take at least 12 hours to develop rather than being an instant revenge type situation.

Hey Y'all. I love Taters giggles.

I'm in eastern oregon and there is fire close by. Smoke in the air, concerned about evacuation. Enjoy watching your hiking adventures.
Gotta make sure that mayor gets reelected
Kate Cloud aka feathers, hikes with her goat Little Leaf.
“We plan, God laughs.” - Woody Allen. I'm glad you found a good spot for the night. Thanks for sharing.
I came to make the Woody quote. Lol. I thought It was woody Harrelson though?

I know, I was wondering how they explained the color code system to the birds.
You missed the deer that jumped across the trail in front of you

Raistlin is THE BEST!!! But for me, Tolkien started it all :)
