After updating the Aprilia SR150 to SR160, Aprilia showcased the SXR 160 in the 2020 Auto Expo. Since the lockdown delayed everything, we have finally got a chance to sample the SXR 160. This brand new Maxi-Scooter from the Italian brand is specifically made for India and gets all the styling bits from the elder Aprilia superbikes. We find out if it's better than the existing Maxi-Scooter already available in the market today.

Do you feel a 160 is a bit too much for a scooter in India?

A 200 or a 250 scooter would be a welcome change but only if it's priced below the 1.5 lakh mark anything more than that and it would just be a disaster

Yes pricing will be an issue for Indian Market, but looking at how two wheeler market is changed in last decade, Expecting proper Maxi will also be in India in comming few years.

No Hazard lights, engine kill switch & not even a bluetooth console which is available in Burgman 125 & Ntorque. Ntorque is the only scooter has the hazard lights. The only thing you would getting for safety aspect is ABS which is default from 150cc(bike or scooter).
Man, this scooter has got some of the best brakes, I test drove many scooters and noticed that the brakes feel a bit weak, with this scooter and the sr 160, the brakes and awesome and offer a nice bite.

@@beingshenoy don't know about seat , but feature wise it looks good ( yea it doesn't have modern connected features ) & it's a bit pricy ( but it's ok as it doesn't have any direct compitation other than burgman )

Atleast we need disc brakes at the rear. For a scooter which can hit 120-130 Kmph, Dual channel ABS should be given as an option atleast.

Looks good , 14 inch tyres and long suspension travel and it will worth the pennies.
If place the front of the helmet towards the back of the scooter and then close the seat it will accomodate the helmet quite easily.

Time to come changing the design of Indian scooter like outside of country..in foreign countries fuel tank are in the front portion so that bigger wheels are accommodated and dual suspension in rear...Honda adv 150, yahamah aerox 155 definitely should come to Indian market..we as an Indian consumer should consider scooter over bikes as practicality are more in scooter and easy to drive ..

The main problem with the scooter
-1.60 1.65 L on on road price
-Low mileage, expect around 32 to 35kmpl at most (as per Aprilia)
-11NM/11PS power which is still too less for cruising or hauling luggage
-High maintenance costs ( around 1300 1400 per service )
If u looking for touring there are better and more practical options for less...
The bike needed at least 13 14BHP of power, especially at this price range

I'm expecting close to Rs. 150,000 on road. but ill wait for the Japanese models, for reliability and tech. Meanwhile Ill just buy a cheap runabout for the time being & dump that SOB once a good deal shows up.
I desperately want Honda adv150, yahamah aerox 155 should come to the Indian market.. actually activa type design don't allow larger wheels and great stability to scooters..in foreign countries fuel tank is in the front portion nor rear section so that larger wheel and twin suspension can be accommodated..

You have placed the helmet the wrong way, you need to rotate it 180 degrees. The area which sits on top of the helmet is positioned in the opposite way.
Still this scooter can't beat our Indian beast TVS Ntorq from any way🇮🇳🇮🇳🔥🔥
On road it's 1.6 around twice of burman almost and again the poor service network and costly parts...Burman is best 💪💪

thye setup this cvt at peak torque or lil less what mean driver on acceleration to 50 have only 8,5 hp to use 4,5 sec from 0 to 43 tacho what mean real 40 km/h show also this as welll tachometer me dylan 125 is at around 8-8,5 k rpm at 11 gram rollers use almost peak power what translate on 3sec acceelration to true 40 km/h also with 90 kg driver and the same scooter weight 130 kg anyway overall its good scooter for city trafic .,however i have liquid cooling vs air cooling in sxr 160 ,more power ,the same mass ,shorter wheelbase 13 inch rim vs 12 inch in sxr 160 so yea i more like dylan 125 than sxr 160 ,except biger rpm which dylan spin .so sxr win in rpm department flat floor and simplier engine construction everything else go to dylan like for me .
