"But in the sim you basically straightline it in 4th gear" Just like reality then, if any series racing there is evidence of. I actually have to be contrarian here, I love Enna Pergusa. It's fast, difficult and a relic of times past, when curbs where tall, walls were close and snakes biting drivers was just your average friday practice
As you mentioned, the Variante Proserpina was tightened in the entry, but the changes don't stop there: in 2009 the track receiver enough upgrades (Including FIA kerbing) to be graded FIA Grade 3, and a resurfacing in 2019 removed the chicane in the pitlane
Proserpina, like the queen of the underworld of the roman mythology. fair enough as the lake is considered a gate to the underworld by some greek poets: It's a cool tag line: "The Underworld GP" it.:"Il Gran Premio degli Inferi"
Hey Southpaw, I know you did a Super Serious Track Guide on the Charlotte Roval a few years back and didn’t like the circuit at all, but I was just wondering what you think of it now after they’ve added the paint, walls, chicanes, etc. I personally think the track looks nicer and more technical now.
“Perhaps in these divided times, unity can come through mutual annoyance.” 😂 That’s the best sentence I’ve heard in a while. I’m going to remember that one.
3:30 That is the Schumacher Chicane. It is named after Michael Schumacher because he was asked to draw it. So it is as it is because of (or thanks to) him.
Stuff sim racing, IT'S BACK!!! The Creventic 24H endurance series is running the Coppa Florio at Enna Pergusa on October 9-11. 12 hours of racing (6+6 format), GT & TCE classes. How crazy is that!!! Here's hoping they pull it off!
I'm working on a better, newer and more graphically polished version of this track for Assetto Corsa, based on the Shift 2 Unleashed's 3D model with less bumpier kerbs, for more aggressive lines, still the old the 2003 layout with the old Proserpina fast chicane, idk why SMS decided to use the 2003 layout in 2011 (maybe laziness lol), but it is less scary with lower kerbs. In the real life, today the track is owned by Pirelli as a test track for his own products, the track has unchanged layout, but the asphalt and all kerbs were completely rebuilt, to be suitable for cars and motorbikes. Let me know if you could be interested in trying my version of this track (it's not finished so it's not perfect), greetings from Sicily! :D
Omg I think some time years ago your Chanel stopped uploading for some time and I un-supped :( Now I found you back and have so much amazing content to watch!! :) Love it!
Hold on, sulfur? No surprise, the lago di pergusa is of volcanic origin. ...which adds another thing that Enna Pergusa has in common with Potrero de los Funes, since both lead around volcanic(not just... well, "normal") lakes! Otherwise, we could add Charade(Clermont-Ferrand) to it since that one also sits off to the side of a volcano.
The obsession with clockwise circuits is part of the problem. Run that track counterclockwise, change the chicanes, and it could actually be usable, even without expansion or land reclamation. Turn 1, 2: Hard kink left past the pits near the wall, then a hard but wide right/left chicane. Turn 3: About 200-300m later, a fast chicane to make the field single file before the south curve. Turn 4: Long left hander (remove that south end chicane) to let cars get close again. Turn 5: A very tight but wide left/right chicane, or a repeat of turn one (kink left, right/left chicane). Turn 6: A sweeping left hander around the northeast corner. Turn 7: 300m after turn 6, a wide right/left chicane where the swimming pools are (see google maps). There would be a wall 100m off the corner to protect the main straight. The pit lane entrance diverges after the chicane. Turn 8: A very wide left hander into the main straight just before Stadio Enrico Greca (again, see google maps).
There is a qualification lap of the italian touring car championship of Fabrizio Giovanardi in 1997 on RUclips. Watch that lap, and if you don't love Giovanardi and this track after that, you have absolutely no soul. It's a shame that isn't used as much nowadays, but voices from the track says that it will be home of a World Championship round in 2020. We'll wait and see, i've eyes on a possible WTCR round there...
@@EmilGlockner there are some good fictional racetracks in games, the first it comes to mind is gran turismo fictional racetracks as midfield raceway, grand valley speedway and probably trial mountain. Not all fictional racetracks are bad.
The original layout reminds me of a combination of: Pocono, Daytona, Talladega and Indy! Except Flatter!! lol Looked like it would be a fun track to drive! The new layout though looks okay. But I would add 90 degree left turn to a Right hand hairpin off in the SW corner then a another 90 degree left turn to come back onto the original track.
Kinda cool to think that FIA GT used to race here. I wish something like Blancpain or DTM will race here someday. Just one time, because no one wants to drive a second time here.
No, this track hosted the Mediterranean Grand Prix. The Syracuse Grand Prix was held at Syracuse (in Sicily as well). That track was not permanent, and plans of making it permanent have all gone down the drain. The last time they tried, a track was built but never completed. It still sits there, closed and unusable.
Dear Southpaw, I really enjoy your Super Serious Track Guides, but but how about one at Paul Ricard? This track has some shitty turns, no overtaking opportunities, a trillion layouts and a bit too colourful runoff areas ;-)
5:15 even the pit entry has a chicane 😭
Kaj van heerwaarden not anymore irl, they removed it :)
I mean why tho
It’s also way too tight
Pit entry chicane was removed in 2019
This place must have been really fun when the frogs invaded durring an F3000 race. (True story)
Roger Dodger Maybe thats what the curbs are.

Johan Pedersen that's what F1 needs! More snakes biting drivers!
i'm using your last paragraph as the tracks description in assetto lmao
Johan Pedersen montréal is pretty similar to this place as keke rosberg described it: 6 chicanes and a hairpin
I miss tall curbs...
Oh boi, my favorite GTR2 death bowl
“Nordschleife is the most dangerous track in the world.”
GTR2 Enna Pergusa: Hold my beer.

This is the second track after Oschersleben, that i used to like in GTR2, that gets a Super Serious Track guide... I LOVE IT :DD
“Perhaps in these divided times, unity can come through mutual annoyance.”

Enna Pergusa is one of my fave tracks from back in the days of GTR2 and Race07.
I absolutely loved this track in GTR2! But I can't remember the kerbs being so deadly/high.
I love this track so much it's a blast to drive around. We really do need a modern up to date version in Sim world though
The song is Latin Industries - Kevin Macleod
Took me 2 hours to find the name, since he didn't put the name in the description.
I loved this track in Shift 2.
Wondered where I knew it from
I love this track!
I downloaded it for Assetto corsa and with huge curbs, long straights and fast chicanes, this is my favourite track.
The Sicilian Hockenheim
I grew up with GTR2 and this was always my favorite track. I have a soft spot for Enna Pergusa to this day!
these are honestly some of my favourite videos on youtube, great fun to watch all the time
I didn't expected potrero de los funes to appear here
Discovering that thing in the middle of pergusa it's a lake it's also unexpected LOL
Sulphur, snakes, bus stops and V12s... A recipe from hell??!!
I used to enjoy watching GT races around that circuit on eurosport many years ago. I didn't realise how bad this track was at the time.
5:19. That pit entry looks exceedingly safe.
This track's incarnation in GTR2 still gives me nightmares
I'm from Argentina and didn't even know that track existed, now I know. Thank you master, I should watch more local racing
This brings back many memories from NFS shift 2
Try the original version in Grand Prix Legends: it's a driftfest :D
Now instead of sleeping, i'll make Serious Track Guides marathone... just after i watched all ruined tracks... again...
Actually adored this track on Shift 2 back in the day
Also Test Drive: Ferrari Racing Legends. 👍👍👍👍☺☺☺
the book bit nearly killed me in the best possible way

Oh no
The NFS Shift 2 memories are coming back.
God that course brought the worst in the game
Its bringing me ferrari TDRL memories, i failed the 1st corner everytime

Fun fact: that main-straight chicane, in the smart-car race a few weeks ago on that track, they do exactly what you say…
Fantastic video, Rhys! I'll definitely have to try this track now.
Yes! Another guide after so long :D
Enna Pergusa's tire barrier has given me the only *under*take I've seen in sim racing
OMG, I'm super impressed that you know Potrero de los Funes racetrack!! (Argentinean fan here ^^)
Are there any series left that still race at that track?
@@sekhyhybrid6701 I don't think so
I wish it was on AMS, I used to like it on rF1.

AHHHH! now I have to watch all of them again.
24H Series is running here shortly so I’m quite curious on this track
welcome back! i always love these videos
I always thought this was a fictional circuit back when I drove it in Shift 2. It was that unfun to drive!
That goes to show that not only fictional racetracks are shit, then. Plus it isn't always Hermann's fault.

Jordanadventure1 okutama from grid is amazing with the uphill section and it's very hard

Sir, this is brilliant. Subbed.
Do you think you will ever want to do the Nurburgring tracks anytime soon? They are classic racing circuits.
It's back... How about to do Sochi next?
If you're in a sim, turn that Lamborghini into the General Lee
Did you hear? Creventic is going to have a 12 hour race here! Should be good fun lol
oh my, how I loved hating it
and how lap times were only determined by luck and insanity
Shift 2 survivors remember
What is that weird chicane in the pitlane at 5:16? Is it a leftover that didn't fit on the track anymore? Why does it exist?
Ah finally i caught up
_O H S H I T_
It’s been a long time
If you too are bored of battering through the kerbs... try this in the KTM X-Bow.
Rhys ever since I watched this video I keep getting recommended Enna Pergusa onboard videos.
Help
I've played on this track in a MOTORBIKE SIMULATOR. Imagine caring not to hit curbs and then fucking dying anyway
Can you do a track guide on Bathurst?
hey the new uploads are amazing dude keep it up
Looks like Enna is chicanes galore all over.
Any chance you are going to show us your take on Le Mans?
We're waiting for the next episode!!!
One of hardest circuits for me chicanes with high kerbs. In gtr 2 many times i dnf on those tyres xd
Now we need Imola.
I also love looking at race track maos and making my own
Can you do a video about why kerbs are constructed so high that it makes you airborne? What is the purpose of that?
Most fun track in GTR2. Don't @ me
Nice and entertaining vid! Subbed! :)
Am I the only one thinking Enna-Pergusa is kinda Hockenheim pre-Tilke's lost twin?
It’s an oval with a few chicanes.
Haha.
I raced there yesterday in the GTR2 Power and Glory mod and everything you said is 100% true
YAY another SSTG!!!
Don't forget to piledrive that Lister trying to overtake you into the world's worst bus stop!

You should do it super serious track guide on the nascar Daytona road
it's finally back
Should revisit this in NFS Shift2
It's probably my favorite circuit XD
Soo... Euroformula F3 are going there it seems...
4:00 i'm just crying in laughter right now
Driving the RSS Lambo, I see what you did there ;)
Who is the one uncultured person who disliked this video.
Must have been of those heathens who thought the chicanes were a good idea.
i liked the track on the first gtr
Please, do more!
This track is purely consists of chicanes only
