What do you think of Time Masters? How do you feel it compares to René Laloux's other animated films? Do you like Moebius' art style? Which films would you recommend to fans of Time Masters? Thanks for watching!
I think Time Masters is a masterpiece. But it makes me wonder if Peele’s father did know about the time masters' plan to send their planet back 60 years in the past for future conquerors and this same concept reminds me of Predestination with Ethan Hawke, His Dark Materials and Terminator: Genesys, the part in which Kyle Reese gets to meet his younger self in 2015-2016 before the launch of the program. Of course, Back To The Future touches on the same topic of 2 versions of yourself never meeting because it would cause a time paradox. So, was the whole movie a time paradox or simply the universe did get mad in fact because of the concurrency of time going backward? 😅 Adding to that, the concept of the angels was interesting because in His Dark Materials these same creatures were fighting against Metatron. Which of course it wasn’t a blob like creature but someone who had an identity as well. I would have loved though to see good angels from the planet to have helped Jaffa in the rescue of Peele before the true events happened to him.
Wonderful video that hits the nail right on the head. A secondary theme I found in the movie was love. Jaafer and the princess have such compassion towards Peele. The princess and Jafar are both heartbroken when they hear Peele crying when he's in the middle of the lake. The princess even sings peele a song, and her love for him reminds the poor boy of his mother and soothes him. On the other hand, self hatred destroys the prince. Whereas, the old man who also has compassion and love for Peele is technically loving himself. This healthy self-love enables Peele to survive(eating the right fruits, etc)
I adore this interpretation! On my next rewatch, thinking of the film this way is going to add another layer of reassurance and comfort 😁 Thank you for watching, I'm glad you enjoyed the video!
And we must not forget that this self hatred the prince feels is what manages to save the crew at a crucial moment. There is more complexity to the moral construction of this film than simple good vs. evil!!
Great summary, thanks! I have been enchanted by the ambience of this film since my childhood. A tale with depth in the visuals, the sounds and the storytelling alike.
I find the role Silbad has with Piel so interesting. They are the same person in different places and time. Is something like that possible? Are we really the same person once we age? If we could grow old and teach our younger self things, what does that mean? Such a wondrous movie.
Are there later versions of this film? .. i remember i saw different ending when an alien attack Silbad and take control of his voice then Jafar kill the alien which look like a moving raw egg was emerging from Silbad eyes by using the e-gun!
Thank you so much! It took me a little while to figure out the blue yeti microphone - I'm so bad with new tech haha - but when I started playing with it, I was so so pleased with how clear it is! I've been using it for my university Teams lectures too. No longer do I have to do deal with that odd buzzing sound haha! 😅

One of the best animated films of all time and a big part of my childhood

What a great underrated movie, Mobius's art style should inspire more people in this century.

I agree! It always makes me think of what I would like to tell my younger self! I adore this film 😁
After every time I watch this movie, I feel sad and emptied!
I saw this in the early 80s and have been trying to find it since then. Amazing. The ending really stayed with me.
All time favorite science fantasy animation. Love it
Take a shot whenever the video says "time"
I order this movie!
I hope you like it! It's a lovely little comfort adventure!

Though I love Fantastic Planet more (It's my #1 favorite film), I still love this film. The designs and concepts are very appealing.
I feel the same, Laloux has such inventive films and it's hard not to love how expansive the worlds are in these films ☺
Whoa you sound so different with this microphone.

Can you just explain ' lolita ' movie
Kubrick's Lolita is a film I might cover at some point in the future, I hadn't thought of discussing it on the channel actually!
Great movie, must be remade using modern animation technologies!
Never.. that would make it lose identity
