to be brutally honest, everytime i hear her sing, i just a bubbling crying fool, she touches my soul so deep.
The original version with Tarja was always one of my favorites, the song was undoubtedly made for her. Now, as much as I think Floor is the best Nightwish singer, I was afraid that she would do no justice to the song. Boy I was a fool to doubt her. She sang in a completely different way and somehow managed to keep the essence of the song alive. She truly is the wonder woman of metal!

@@fredverkerk838 definitely a Tarjaholic hahaha there's nothing wrong with using a soft voice here, it fits, keeps the ethereal feel of the song. And @onlyth truth2 there's nothing like a "Tuomas' spell" in this, Floor herself wanted to develop a beautiful soft voice since she didn't use it that much during her career. The real problem seems to be in songs that require epic staccatos like The Siren or Slaying the Dreamer.

This has always been one of my favorite Nightwish songs and I love Tarja singing it, but this performance was truly amazing.
I kind of prefer Tarja's version, but this is really cool too.

was watching the doc about EFMB. One clip they were talking about the set list, and Tuomas was talking about other songs in their library they might add later on, ones that would "fit Floor's voice". he then laughed and and repeated, "fit Floor's voice". like there was not a single song that she could not handle. and as this show demonstrates, if there is one that doesn't, they haven't found it yet.

This song always reminds me of why Nightwish are so great. For many bands a song like this would be one of their best, maybe top 5. I love the song, but as great as it is it doesn't even creep into my top 20 favourite Nightwish songs. They have done too many truly fantastic songs in their 120+ song catalogue!

I just noticed how well Marco's and Floor's voices fit.
I don't think Tuomas wrote like it's all lie after death, or he's scared. It's more like opposite :) Deep, silent - complete. Sounds calm and satisfied. Notice also how Floor sings it: happy and and like, satisfied - calming, soothing us. More like no need to be scared - it's more like truth makes you rest calm. Like when silence is no threat, but calming - you¨re deeply satusfied, you can rest in the silence. It's complete - it's finished.
I don't know if that's what he means, but I connect to that peace and rest thriugh the way Floor sings. I was thinking that she could sing this as a lullaby to her kid, without the Instruments.
The Instruments sound more like rejoicing of the fact that it's complete. I mean the the big Picture. We vcan rest in that silnetly. Jsut our own path needs to be found. But with relaxing that the deep silent will carry, we can find our path.

So I discovered you a few days ago, and am having a blast watching your reactions to some of my favourite bands (Nightwish, Amaranth, Unleash the Archers etc.), so I start looking through your video list for the Battle Beast reactions.... and .... nothing...!!! I was stunned that you haven't done them yet, and that can only be because you haven't heard of them I think.
The singer - Noora - has an a wonderful raspy edge, and so much damn power it is incredible. The band are a blend of hard rock, power metal and 80s synth pop. Sounds crazy but it works so well!
In terms of songs to start with, I'd recommend 'King For A Day', 'Straight To The Heart', or 'Familiar Hell' - but there are loads. For the laugh of seeing your reaction, 'Black Ninja' would be fun too.
Anyway, I hope you give them a go and enjoy their stuff. Keep up the great work, cheers!

Like all these old songs in this setlist, another great version. But still the original has the true spirit of the song to my ears, something in Tarja's voice. Plus on the concert video she looks like she just stepped out of a storybook, lol.

The crowdfunding has hit the stretch goal so we'll be getting the show and a backstage documentary (and excess donations go to a charity - Floor is doing this for us, her fans, not to make money.) The video will be available free on RUclips and other streaming platforms, and Floor seems supportive of the reaction community so I'm sure reactions will not get blocked, in fact I suspect they will be welcomed.

However, that professionally recorded show is not quaranteed to have "emotional moment" that Floor had in that spesific concert/during "Our Decades of The Sun" that was linked to Mr. Rock'n'Roll. In many past concerts she had performed the song fine, which is naturally ok too. This is the reason why that smartphone recording is worthwhile to watch/share/experience.
There is a Dutch translation available sang by Samatha. She made this translation and singing to Floor in “Beste zangers” last year

Bro, you are my favorite channel to watch Nightwish reactions on. You react to Floor the same as I do....she is just incredible and so is this band. You are missing out on one of the best songs. It's truly the song I would want Floor to sing at my funeral. Sleeping Sun live in Tampere. Dude, no joke, one of the most beautiful songs ever and there is a moment in the video where it really does seem like Floor is a goddess floating above the crowd. Heath you need to do some Ayreon, I think it's time. Start off with "The Way That The World Breaks Down", it has a great video where Arjen Lucassen introduces all 11 of the singers featured on his concept album "The Source". Then move on to the live version of "Everybody Dies". Then, if you feel up for an awesome operatic duet between Floor and Simone, listen to "Deathcry of a Race".

You need to do Ghost Love Score and Greatest Show on Earth from the same concert, both are different enough from the versions you've seen to make em worth watching. But this is one of my favorite old Nightwish songs, I'm just waiting on them to remaster Over the Hills and Far Away with floor (Yes she's done it with Tarja, but doesn't count until it's done officially :P )

Heath you come across as a genuine decent guy and your reactions are the best. This song is surprisingly deep, it starts almost like a simple pop song but goes much deeper as it progresses. I like the 'big' guitar sound Emppu and Troy bring to the song and the beat Marko and Kai are laying down. Tuomas holds it all together with his wonderful keys, just a good tune played well for this show. And of course best wishes Floor!

If you think the old stuff is different. You should try listening the original singer. Her voice fits better because those songs were composed for her voice. It's not better vocally, since floor is amazing. But the type of voice is different and fits better with the rest of the instruments.

This is an old song, so the writing from young Tuomas was simpler - I think the meaning of this one amounts to "I love oceans"... It is one of my most favorite Nightwish tracks, and as good as this version is,, with Floor and the 3-way harmonies at the end, Tarja's original take was even better! Few songs in Nightwish catalog play to her strengths as a singer as this one. If there is a perfect Tarja song, this one might be IT.

Well the thing about Tuomas is there's lots of times that he seems like he's being really dark, and he does mention death, but often uses that to mean the loss of childhood or whatever. I don't think he intends to be morbid on everything.

While still epic live, for the first time I find myself preferring the non live version. I think maybe because with this one it hits me harder without the concert noise.
