I was confused at first. Because after many years of hearing many bands that are made up of great musicians I have never felt what I was feeling upon hearing Nightwish, especially Floors voice. She has the magical ability to make you feel every word she sings. She is a generational talent. A living legend that we are blessed to witness!

Never never never ever apologize for showing emotions. Not to Nightwish or anything else for that matter. It happens to all of us. I have lost counts to all the times I have cried to their songs.

What a beautiful reaction. Thank you for sharing this with us. This is the power of Nightwish. Tuomas' beautiful compositions, the band and of course Floor's magnificent voice. They can lift you up to heights you can only imagine and then turn right around and make you cry. Nightwish is an emotional experience.

Floor is able to bring out the soul of a song. Just what Tuomas' masterpieces needed. She always sings in service of the song and music. For sure, there's stage presence in spades, but no act to draw attention to herself. She's actually so selfless that she can afford to become a true medium for the story to be told and the music to flow freely. No ego in between. That's the energy & emotion I feel each time I listen to this music. Cheers from Amsterdam!

This is a very personal song for Tuomas (composer and keyboardist). Once he said that he wants to be remembered for this song. In this song, he talks about what music means to him, writing music, he talks about himself. I think this is the only song where he spoke specifically about himself and admits this to the public. I think that's why the song is so emotional. Well, Floor, she feels it all very well, possessing strong empathy. The tone of her voice to me personally sounds almost like a cry, a voice on the verge of an emotional breakdown. I think this is what causes such a reaction along with the music that Tuomas wrote, you can not listen to the words (although they are very beautiful and filled with deep meaning), but you still feel the emotions.

    • @vogel2280
      @vogel2280 2 года назад +11

Indeed! Tuomas was only 22 when he wrote this song.Just a couple of years before he was a regular Finnish teenager and then just a few years later he all of a sudden was the composer and bandleader of the biggest export product of the entire county (over iron ore and forestry) with hundreds of jobs depending on his creativity.
I believe he felt his childhood-life was cut short by this (hence referring to himself as "dead boy") "The child" is a reference to the band. It is all he cares about, but he has to disappoint a lot of people in the process.

Nightwish is a roller coaster of emotions, I promise you, these are not your last tears. I'm an old fart, and every time I hear this song I cry. Never ignore or hide your emotions or say sorry, we all went through them and still do. 🤘😢🤘 I'm not religious, but I have to say this... Nightwish is a blessing from heaven.

Dear Dominika, don't be sorry for your tears. I tell you something in confidence 😏 most of us are crying during listening Nightwish's songs. Every single time and we don't no why. Of course Tuomas is a genius and Floor is doing her magic with his compositions but nobody knows what kind of magic it is. In my case music part of my soul is in pain and happiness in the same moment. It hurts inside but I feel a needs of listen more and more every single day. And one more thing. It will be your and your husband decision but don't do The Poet and The Pendulum reaction too soon. It's the most emotional Nightwish song and very personal for Tuomas. The lyrics is very poetic, symbolic and if you won't do some research about this song, you could feel confuse. Pozdrawiam serdecznie was oboje.

It was mentioned many times that Floor is an empath, so she is feeling the song (this one was not written for her like most NW songs) and she instinctively is transmitting the feelings from it. If you like to see and hear how she is a mermaid fighting the devil (Marko) with some amazing vocal acrobatics: same venue, Devil and the deep dark ocean! I could not find a bad or boring song in this venue… And her voice is amazing although she was still recovering from the heavy flu she got in Bogota.

“Devil and the deep dark ocean” is one of my favourites from this concert. It’s heavy but very theatrical with Floor and Marco singing to each other (they play different roles) and Floor belting high notes like nothing. Spectacular performance. I really love this concert. It’s a collection of 20 years of Nightwish history. The band, the crowd and the stage are awesome. And Floor is in full superhero, goddess, queen and valkyrie mode here.

This is such a beautiful, delicate song, to me (and I know for many others as well) this one is special because this is a young Tuomas talking to us, the double cadence on the phrase "I wish I didn't feel for you anymore" always makes me cry so never apologize for crying with their songs, but then the queen manages to bring the positivity back with the second part of the song, is so powerful and uplifting, that you can't help but smile through the tears. Complex feelings caused by an special, complex and beautiful man's masterful mind

You don't have to be sorry at all, I know EXACTLY what you mean when you say you don't really know where the tears are coming from. That's the magic in Nightwish's music and Floor's vocals - they bring out emotions that sometimes you can't really place.

Tuomas's emotions in lyric and tones, channeled through Floor who is in my opinion a true vocal empath. She can convey the emotional component directly through her tone, timbre, and power. Trust me, there's a few Nightwish songs that make me feel completely as you did. This is one. Sometimes when I listen to this, or others I connect to emotionally, that I'm ok.. this is not or has not happened to me, and wow that's quite a accomplishment to connect so fully to myself. I'm not sure that makes a ton of sense either, sometimes you can't quite explain fully WHY or WHAT a song makes you feel, it's too emotional and personal. Great reaction though, I enjoyed and relived my own response to this through you. TY!

I connect so much with what you said about Floor. She is very beautiful. Beautiful, powerful, versatile, yet delicate voice that she continues to improve through training and challenging herself (and being up to whatever new challenge that Tuomas decides to throw at her). She is a beautiful person on the inside. No ounce of ego that I have seen since discovering her (and re-discovering Nightwish through her performance of Ghost Love Score at Wacken 2013). It has been over 2 years since I stumbled across that video and I was hooked instantly. Since then, I have watched anything I could find with her in it. She is such a sensitive, humble, and down-to-earth person. The fact that she is my idea of physically gorgeous is a bonus for me, but her looks do reflect her inner beauty. Because of the entire package that is Floor Jansen, she is able to evoke emotions in her audience that few performers are, or have been, capable of.

That simple but beautiful guitar solo also adds extra weight and is perfectly executed by Emppu as usual - he knows how to make his guitar sing.

Don’t be sorry. I cried with You although I watched this video a hundred times already.
This is Nightwish. This is Floor.
Now you know why we call her our Goddes.

I can't count the number of times I've listened to this song and every time I start crying at the guitar solo. In some way this song touches something inside many of us, so you don't need to apologise for being emotional. You are in good company.

It’s a very sad song… and soooo emotional… Floor Hits your soul and Emppu brought in on top…. this is one of the songs where Emppu is not smiling - and this is also stated in the lyrics. Thx for this one… 👍🏆

Such a beautiful reaction... You demonstrate the message of Tuomas. He has no words for his feelings, he has music and his music is telling it all. You got it.

Hi both. I am a 60 year old Metal Head and been so since my teenage days. FLOOR JANSEN is by far the most emotional singer I have ever heard. I have watched this song many many times and i cry every time. No need to apologise - that is the Goddess magic of Floor. Just enjoy.

Every single one of us has either one or several Nightwish songs that just move us to tears...for different reasons. Tuomas writes music and poetry that connects with us on many levels, and means something different to each person. I know all of the songs, seen hundreds of reactions...do.not apologize for tears! I've seen big strong men cry just at the sound of Floor's voice, or from a phrase. It's ok...we cry with you!

Greetings from Canada! That is what music is all about, and your reaction is a testament to that. I am in love with Tuomas' mind and his ability to compose such beautiful music. It is a true gift and top notch musicianship that brings forth the awesomeness that is Nightwish. Thank you for this wonderful reaction.

That was a beautiful reaction. With the combination of Tuomas' poetic songwriting, Floor's amazing voice and the talented band members tears are inevitable. I know exactly how you feel because I get the same feelings. Many people have mentioned that Floor is not real. I'm just glad that I am able to experience Floor and Nightwish in this lifetime. 😊🤘

This is why I watch reaction videos: the emotional connection. Dominika, you're one of us, don't worry about shedding tears, we've gone through that stage. But.... brace yourself for the "poet and the pendulum" which require a bit of homework.... but not too much to give it away. If your ever do the "poet" don't push much into it before and, just make sure you have the lyrics off screen or somewhere. Looking forward to the next reaction. As always fantastic reaction! NWA Australia division signing-off. Take care!

They bring us a depth of feeling that is impossible to fully describe. With Nightwish I shed tears of joy, sorrow, gratitude and understanding. We spend our lives feeling our way through, sometimes feeling alone, hiding emotions because we feel we are the only ones who feel this deeply. Then Nightwish comes along and digs up all these emotions, reminding us we are not alone. We all share in this deep sea of emotion called life. To have it all written so brilliantly and honestly by Tuomas and expressed with such depth and color by Floor... it is a divine gift, one that I am humbled and grateful to accept. This is soul music unlike any heard before. To be alive, if only to hear this song is a gift beyond measure.

To me there is no bigger compliment for a Nightwish song than to be overcome by emotion. Toumas writes his lyrics from his heart, and Floor pours every ounce of emotion into her vocals. Their songs are technically proficient of course, but what really matters is the emotional connection with the listener. That's what keeps me coming back to them. There's no doubt both of you are feeling that connection. Whether the song makes you happy, sad, angry, or calm, that's the best part!
You guys are wonderful and I look forward to following your journey.

This song as well as the poet and the pendulum are easier to understand with some backstory. Floor's voice and movements are beautiful and it's one of Tuomas's (keyboards) best creations.

This song is not a sad song but it does have a melancholy feel to it. To me it is like a eulogy, or how the dead boy wishes to be remembered even though he feels as though he hasn't completed all that he wanted to in his life yet. Tuomas is big on the loss of childhood joy and exuberance that we go through as we age and I think this is another song exploring that loss.

Another lovely reaction you guys. One of my top 5 Nightwish songs. As others have said this is one of the most personnel and emotional songs for both Tuomas and fans. At the time the song was written Tuomas said the song represented how he wanted to be remembered if he were to die the next day. Please don't be embarrassed by your emotions. It is genuine and all of us feel the same way. There are many songs along with this one that make me tear up every time a listen to them.

It's very difficult not to get emotional when one hears this song. I too teared up several times listening to it. Floor is so empathetic when she sings it.
Have you played Ghost Love Score from this Buenos Aries concert? You will see many people crying. And the way the audience chanted her name at the end is just incredible! I love the South American people they are so emotional and that's why Nightwish schedules many concerts down there.

I've had a lot of tears listening to Nightwish. Floor's voice is indeed beautiful, her voice hits the soul of many of us. Nightwish took me through a very dark time and I'm glad I discovered them not long after the tragedy I went through when my 22 year old son died 2 and a half years . This song made me cry like a waterfall.

You are becoming my favourite reactors. You feel very genuine and very human, and your emotions feel true.
If you want to see the other end of the spectrum of Nightwish and Floor, I recommend "Yours is an empty hope", which is a much heavier and darker song. There are two official live videos, but if you are sensitive to flashing lights then unofficial Wembley 2015 version is a good option.

Its about an young Boy- dead- giving his legacy as Song.
@karim jackson did explain it very well in the Comments here, its an Song written by Tuomas as to be his Legacy, when he is gone. In Finnland, the Swans and the Sea are the Carriers of the Souls which leave (at least in some way, others can say it better), for the Backround Picture.
Just to say, you still listen to Metalmusic, no Metalhead would dissagree. Its an bigger World as we all know till today, thx to the Inet, not only bad Things come around with it;)

Yes. It is totally normal to be confused. Nightwish has ńot two songs which are the same. And crying within Nightwish songs is normal - you won’t believe it but it’s maybe not the last one. In the future you will discover songs which will feel like an emotional rollercoaster…. and I like your reaction as always… 👍🏆

Hello from Canada's smallest province (Prince Edward Island). I started watching reactions back when covid had everything shut down. About a year ago I found night Nightwish and since then I have watched every Nightwish reaction I could find. Between your conversion from not liking this style of music to having trouble holding off listening to more so that you can react, and you and your partner's online sharing of this journey you guys have quickly become my favorite reaction channel. I am in my 50's and when I think back to my favorite bands I realized that even the bands I liked the best I never liked a large number of their songs. I would buy an album and I would have 1 or 2 songs on each side that i would really like and i would fast forward over the rest. With Nightwish, and more specifically Nightwish with Floor, I have not yet found a song I would fast forward over. I do enjoy the previous lead singers (Annette and Tarjia) but Floor just grabs you and pulls you into Tuomas's beautiful creations.

The reaction was very personal and hopefully an encouraging and a freeing one for both of you. It can't be easy to be in the pubic sphere and just let the song take a life of its own (and I'm not ashamed to say this one sometimes leaves me in tears, however many times I hear it). The song builds up from the delicate, to the rhythmic, and through moving readings; to a crescendo with Floor's inimitable vocals.

EVERYONE knows that Nightwish has a "Big 3" in their catalog, those being GHOST LOVE SCORE, THE GREATEST SHOW ON EARTH, and THE POET AND THE PENDULUM.
But if there were a "Big 4"...DEAD BOY'S POEM would be #4.

Nightwish have some more big awesome songs: Beauty Of The Beast, Fantasmic, Creek Mary's Blood, Song Of Myself (if you count also the conversational part). Sadly, apart from the last one, the rest of the songs weren't sung by Floor :( Although I like these three epics with Tarja, I hope that someday Tuomas will bring them back to the repertoire at least once.
