"What's the best high fiber food?"
Your answer to this question (that all high fiber foods offer different benefits and it depends on what works for the individual) is so refreshing. I feel like social media algorithms are always pushing superlatives. I am so tired of claims that "this ONE FOOD will CURE your ANXIETY and CHANGE YOUR LIFE!!!" Especially coming from medical professionals. Thank you for this nuanced and realistic video. This gave me all the information I was looking for without any hyped up claims or rigid/disordered ideas about certain foods. Awesome content :)

Thanks - that’s been the goal of doing this. The superlatives are in place to try to sell something. They are information bullies in a way. It’s hard to get real information across being drowned out by massive marketing budgets. So we try to make the boring truth a bit more fun.

This is fantastic info! I have modified my diet past few months to include more beans (especially black beans). Yay on potatoes! Used to avoid them, but now eat potato soup regularly. And baby carrots are kind to my GI system. I love brocoli & asparagus, but not working for me at moment. I also avoid a lot of whole grain these days. Lastly, loving yogurt with half fresh banana with 2 tbs of FANTASTIC granola called "Bear Naked". Just discovered this granola recently, and highly recommend it!! Yummy. The best "rule" for me is small portions, no matter what I eat. Thank you for video!!

I love high fiber foods but I have gastroparesis so I have a problem with constipation. It seems some of this food just sits in my stomach and hard to digest. Excellent video and great information. Thanks!

I really enjoy your videos and learn alot from them. I have Diverticulitis and get heavy bleeding which lowers my Hemoglobin and have had 3 blood transfusions in the past year along with Iron IV's. Finally in these last few months I've learned to control the bleeding thru the way I eat, (and not eat, fasting) depending on how I'm doing that day. Your videos are helping bring light to issues that others don't explain. Do you have any helpful suggestions on those of us who have bleeding during Diverticulitis flare ups?

There’s data from Japan that suggests banding is the best way to deal with bleeds and that for recurrent diverticulosis complications it may be reasonable to band the diverticula as an alternative to surgery.

Wouldnt rice and pasta be insoluble fiber since it simply absorbs water instead of dissolving into a gel like substance?

When is the best time to take fiber so you aren't going all day? If I take a fiber supplement in the morning, I'm going all day. I also keep trying to increase the dose of psyllium but it is like just irritates my GI. If I work up to the normal dose, will my GI adjust?

Small adjustments help. Some people are sensitive to certain fiber for unclear reason. You might try one of the apple based options. I steer people away from chicory, inulin, and bran.

Most fibers completely destroy my bowel ls. Most are off limits completely or I'm sick and miserable.

Turning 40 soon best thing I ever did was remove fiber from my diet stomach thanks me.

Sounds like you may need to chew better if your stomach thanks you for removing fiber. Eventually your colon will regret your low fiber diet.

It is "GI tract," with a "t," not "GI track" as you say in all of your videos. How can you get that wrong?

I guess because my wife made a mistake with her editing. And I was a dumb ass and didn’t catch it. I’ll let her know that the worlds biggest jackass pointed it out. Thanks.
