    I’m watching this as I complete my prep for my colonoscopy later this morning. I am doing the pill prep and it’s the easiest I have ever done. Since I have a history of polyps i have the procedure every 3 years and it’s no big deal. I’m now 76 YO.

    What you should add to your list is never ever allow them prescribe the premixed 42,000-gallon solution. I couldn't physically consume it, not even close, & now I'm having to re-do the prep at a later time....this time will be with one of the FAR easier prep options....I have zero idea why one of these wasn't prescribed instead.

    My husband had a colonoscopy 4 days ago. The day before, he was allowed clear liquids only and black coffee until midnight. He took a Dulcalax at 4pm. He had to start drinking the prep at 5pm: 8 oz every 8 hrs. Finished around 7pm. As expected, had diarrhea but it eased up by 9:30-10pm and he was able to sleep. Finished the prep the next morning w/that same protocol-8 oz every 15 minutes, finishing by noon. He had to be at the facility by 2:15. Was taken almost immediately back to pre-op after going through registration. Procedure was scheduled for 3:15. He was taken back at 3:12, finished by 3:33 and home by 4:20. He felt just fine. The prep wasn’t as bad as expected. - likely because it was split and not so hard on his GI system. He never felt nauseous. It wasn’t nearly as bad as he was expecting. Had normal results.

    My insurer sent me a cologuard test which I didn't use because I thought it's for someone who's never had a colon cancer scope screening. There was a case where the at-home test indicated cancer then a endoscopy indicated no cancer. The insurance denied the endoscopy because of the at-home false positive.

    • @MarkCooperMD
      @MarkCooperMD 5 дней назад

      Nuts and berries are not causes of diverticulitis based on current evidence. I wouldn’t eat these during a flare, as that’s the time for a simple (BRAT) diet. After a flare calms I wouldn’t eat them in excess as they are fairly caloric. But I definitely wouldn’t exclude them.

      Me too. I've never had any type of anesthesia. Except way back when I was 6 years old. ( I'm 56 now)to have an operation to lift my eyelids.the prep meds alone that they gave me, made me awfully sick! And the anesthesia made me throw up all night into the next day,until it finally left my system. I stayed in the hospital 3 days. This is what I'm worried about.
