    This was interesting to watch and you are indeed very meticulous. However by the time you've got the car up the front wheel ramps, chocked the wheels, raised the back wheels, put the back wheels on blocks then raised the wheels with the blocks together to insert the shim blocks, lowered the car, removed the front ramps, jacked the front blocks and wheels up together, inserted the front shim blocks and lowered the car ready to start the oil change, I'm literally already well into the actual oil change using one hydraulic jack and one jack stand. Incidentally I did the engine oil change today on my 2007 YRS Yaris.

      Actually, the work that was done at the time of filming are gearbox oil change and the exhaust pipe shield with corroded mounting bolt, I just raise all the wheels for the access and I made a quick oil change but any way thanks for watching...most of the time when I do oil change only the front ramps are used..

    Hello very nice ramp! Is there any reason why you didn't add a ramp to the back just like the front so that you do not need to jack up the rear with a hydraulic jack? Thank you

  • @karoma7898
    @karoma7898 4 года назад +6

    It'd be great to know what you're actually doing and why, like "changing the oil filter", "soaking the new filter so the engine won't run dry", "replacing the gasket because reusing the old might leak oil" , and so on

    How do you know what engine oil to use? Google says that Toyota recommends 5w30, it also says that it recommends 0w20 but when I check at the store all 5w30 comes up with information that it's not for my vehicle. I drive Toyota Yaris Mk2 1.33 Petrol - it's 14 year old car.

    Does this engine burn oil..the piston rings problem?

    • @jlsetnuper
      @jlsetnuper  Год назад +1

      yes, this engine is known to burn more oil. but in my yaris (13 year old) with this engine, i dont have any problem on burning oil. maybe because I change my oil every 5 thousand miles and I only use Castrol Magnatec 0W-20 oil..thanks for watching

    You didn't remove the inner part of the filter holder which should be done first. That's why you also have a smaller gasket with your filter kit.

    • @jlsetnuper
      @jlsetnuper  4 года назад +4

      the reason is, I did not buy the OEM filter kit, and Im afraid the small o-ring will not set properly and will create leak..thanks for watching..

    NEVER, EVER, take your Yaris to a quick change oil shop. I bought a used Yaris, noticed the sticker in the window for the next oil change from some monkey shop
    I did my oil change myself today and the filter was tightened on so damn tight I had to use my Irwin expandable wrench to get it off and the oil plug was damn near stripped as some low paid oil jockey must have used an impact wrench on it....

    I know there's a notch in the oil filter cap that looks like it would be for a pick or screwdriver but Toyota says not to use such tools in the instructions that come with the OEM filter.
    How & why to replace an o-ring without any tools.

    4 jacks stands are a lot easier

    • @Daninater
      @Daninater 4 года назад

      Agreed. I wouldn't use an intuitive homemade ramp system like this as either, because it's more complicated and there's seemingly more to go wrong with the setup.

    • @sondoddy9275
      @sondoddy9275 Год назад

      Yes and considering the possible cost of lumber or any material used plus time consumed making them, compared to what cheap jack stands cost i think they are quite reliable, cheap and good option for these home made ones.
      That being said on the other hand if you like making stuff that has pupose/use, then sure go for it

    • @imGlobL
      @imGlobL 3 года назад

      JLS Etnuper how can you over fill it. If you loook in the owners manual and online. You will know that it takes 3.7 litres of motor oil so I don't see how you could over fill it
