1NR-FE engine. Let's see an oil change following Toyota Tech recommendations about torque specs.
The oil filter wrench it's a Draper 22490, but you can find also other brands' wrenches.
WARNING:
WORK SAFELY SUPPORTING CAR WITH JACKSTANDS OR RAMPS
BE CAREFUL, HOT OIL CAN CAUSE BURNS
BE VERY GENTLE WHEN PRYING TO REMOVE O-RINGS, USE PLASTIC TO AVOID DAMAGES
Do it with warm engine, to allow a perfect draining of the oil.

Great video 🥹
Gr8 video pls clean the fuel injector for this one
Thank you man. Good video
Nice video but you can do even better and pour fresh oil into the filter right away as this a vertical mounted filter, that way the engine gets the oil immediately and you can see the correct level of oil before the first ignition.
Thank you. In toyota manual it's not said to prefill filter. It's a long debate about this thing. Honestly I don't think it could cause much wear at start. And also if prefilled you should fill it from outside to let oil be filtered, making a mess with oil everywhere. So in the end it's better not doing it. Good luck :)
@@ticktime6569 Sure it is a long debat so each one should do what he thinks best :) but if you don't trust your oil manufacturer to provide you with clean oil, maybe you should consider some change ;)
@@haim4 you are right🙂🙂 😂😂😂
NO NEED TO CHANGE O'RING EVERY TIME PROVIDED INSPECTING THEM WELL WITHOUT ANY WEAR ON SURFACE.
Hi. it was very calming and fun to watch. Thanks. I have a question, if there was any mistake or lack any part to changing oil process, can it cause about engine vibration at idle?
i don't think so, you should have done big damages it's improbable
@@ticktime6569 I asked because, after periodic maintenance at while at 20.000 km, these symptoms started. I'm not doing any repair or any changing myself on the car. So i couldn't damage i think, right?
@@yusufaras01 i don't know. But if you search "rough idle" 1nr-fe engine you'll find there are many possible causes
@@ticktime6569 unfortunately... This engine model has many issues and not suits to Toyota's quality image. Take care yourself buddy.
If we remove the filter directly without performing the operation between 2:05 and 2:53, what will happen?
@@almanyadayasam5769 nothing, you make a mess with oil 🙂
Is that a 64.5mm oil filter tool ? Everyone says 64.5 but when I measure the diamter is seems to be about 60mm and I dont want to buy the tool for this very reason as I am sceptical about the size
It's a Draper 22490 wrench. Now I can't take measures, but on draper website you should find the info
@@ticktime6569 thanks. I was measuring wrong, I checked properly after your video and it is 64.5
@@declansgamereview6523 very well! Happy you solved the problem :-)
This seems to be a complicated oil filter design
Once you know it, you are safe. Good luck 🙂💪
It's not complicated, don't have to remove that bolt thingy on the oil filter housing if you don't want to,just use a good proper filter housing removal tool NOT a cheap one. It's there so you don't get lots of oil spewing down on your hands.
Hi,
From where I can get this specific oil filter key?
Best regards
Hi, I used a Draper 22490 wrench. You find it on Amazon easily. Otherwise check the Hazet one. Best regards :)
My vehicle also has oil reduction. Currently 170,000 km. Oil viscosity has been used as 10-40 for 3-4 years. Can we now switch to 0-20 or 5-30 viscosity? (yaris 2010)
Try with 5-30 and keep it checked
Is it 64mm or 68mm oil filter wrench?
Sorry don't remember. But read video description
z jakiej firmy nasadka do filtra?
When did he replace the filter?
I don't understand what you are asking
@@ticktime6569 There is no photo of the new cartridge or its insertion in the housing.
@@conliffewilmot-simpson2666 it's really easy. You simply put it inside. Good luck 🙂
The oil filter goes inside the filter housing then it goes up to be screwed in. Cheap oil filters + cheap oil should be replaced 5,000m (MAX) More expensive filters with cheap oil ok to 8,000m. Cheap filter + cheap oil not a good idea really. Good oil + good filter ok to 12,000 . Good oil means a brand name. I personally use cheap filters BUT use Magnatec every 4,000m & the engine will run great for many, many years with no issues.
What specific oil did you use ?
Motul 8100 EFE x-clean
@@ticktime6569 Thanks !
@@ticktime6569 why EFE 5W30?

It's a known issue of these engines. Try with high quality fully synthetic oil
0w-20 oil has to be used to avoid the blocking of small oiling holes of the engine. The manual says that it is recommended and it has to be used next time if you used something different.
@@barnaczukor4235 hi, I know. But all toyota dealers tell customers to use 5w30 and they also use that oil. It's a debate going on about this engine. Honestly I don't know who to believe
@@ticktime6569 I talked to Toyota service and they were aware of the situation. They told me that I had to use the 0W-20 oil if I use my car for short trips. They use this for Yaris exclusively now.
You can use 5W-30 if you drive fast and sporty. But the majority or Yaris drivers never revs the engine above 2500RPM... and use the car for short trips in the downtown. This is the problem.
I always change engine oil after 10.000kms or earlier. This keeps the engine clean. When I use the oil for longer (15k kms/10k miles), the oil is full of dirt and has dark color.
I advise to use 0W-20 unless you tow a lot or drive with full power for extended period of time. Change the oil sooner, halving the period is a good starting point. Never load/rev the engine while it is cold. Then, your engine will serve you for hundres of thousands of miles.
@@barnaczukor4235 I also talked with the toyota dealer. They used always 5w30. Probably they do like this because they have many customers complaining about oil consumption, and people are not prone to top up oil every 3 weeks. So using 5w30 that is also cheaper, they solve the issue. But engine won't last long I suppose. I also found many carbon buildup and sludge under the oil cap and in the filter cap, since then I change oil every 5000 km at the most. I'll give a try with 0w20,but that engine has run for 7 years with 5w30. Probably with warm temperatures the difference is not significant. If you live in cold areas 0w20 is way better
