    Nice video but you can do even better and pour fresh oil into the filter right away as this a vertical mounted filter, that way the engine gets the oil immediately and you can see the correct level of oil before the first ignition.

      Thank you. In toyota manual it's not said to prefill filter. It's a long debate about this thing. Honestly I don't think it could cause much wear at start. And also if prefilled you should fill it from outside to let oil be filtered, making a mess with oil everywhere. So in the end it's better not doing it. Good luck :)

      It's not complicated,don't have to remove that bolt thingy on the oil filter housing if you don't want to,just use a good proper filter housing removal tool NOT a cheap one. It's there so you don't get lots of oil spewing down on your hands.

      The oil filter goes inside the filter housing then it goes up to be screwed in. Cheap oil filters + cheap oil should be replaced 5,000m (MAX) More expensive filters with cheap oil ok to 8,000m. Cheap filter + cheap oil not a good idea really. Good oil + good filter ok to 12,000 . Good oil means a brand name. I personally use cheap filters BUT use Magnatec every 4,000m & the engine will run great for many,many years with no issues.

      0w-20 oil has to be used to avoid the blocking of small oiling holes of the engine. The manual says that it is recommended and it has to be used next time if you used something different.

      @@ticktime6569 I talked to Toyota service and they were aware of the situation. They told me that I had to use the 0W-20 oil if I use my car for short trips. They use this for Yaris exclusively now.
      You can use 5W-30 if you drive fast and sporty. But the majority or Yaris drivers never revs the engine above 2500RPM... and use the car for short trips in the downtown. This is the problem.
      I always change engine oil after 10.000kms or earlier. This keeps the engine clean. When I use the oil for longer (15k kms/10k miles), the oil is full of dirt and has dark color.
      I advise to use 0W-20 unless you tow a lot or drive with full power for extended period of time. Change the oil sooner, halving the period is a good starting point. Never load/rev the engine while it is cold. Then, your engine will serve you for hundres of thousands of miles.

    • @ticktime6569
      @ticktime6569  2 года назад

      @@barnaczukor4235 I also talked with the toyota dealer. They used always 5w30. Probably they do like this because they have many customers complaining about oil consumption, and people are not prone to top up oil every 3 weeks. So using 5w30 that is also cheaper, they solve the issue. But engine won't last long I suppose. I also found many carbon buildup and sludge under the oil cap and in the filter cap, since then I change oil every 5000 km at the most. I'll give a try with 0w20,but that engine has run for 7 years with 5w30. Probably with warm temperatures the difference is not significant. If you live in cold areas 0w20 is way better
