Question @Mark Watt Tech : if you use it in coupled mode, does the switch then still work is home assisant is down or connection is lost? (does the relay still click as a standalone switch) Edit: Sorry, you tell it @5:40
Hi Mark, great video! I do have Aqara devices and I use them without any issue. I also have 3 Ikea blinds that comes with repeaters and buttons, all of them working fine and separatedly, for example the repeaters are extending the mesh network for any device and I am using the buttons for triggering whatever I want. I am using the Sonoff dongle like you, plus Mosquitto and Zigbee2MQTT. Let me give you an idea about a two way possible configuratiom. Let´s assume you are controlling only one light, you can use 1 smart wall switch H1 downstairs and 1 wireless remote switch H1 upstairs! The wireless remote switch will only togle the smart wall switch. Got it? Again, you are doing a very good job for the community, helping everyone! Thank you so much for the great videos!
Hi, thanks for the video. Are you able to explain a bit more about what you did to combat lack of 2-way support with the "dummy switch" as you called it? How is the "dumb" one configured exactly?
Yes please 🙏 and can we see the best advanced home automations in home assistant ? I'd love to see a step by step for battery notification in home assistant
Been waitting for this one, thanks for doing all this and sharing what you learn I love the Aqara product line but it can be frustrating with home assistant I have just purchased a hub to use in tandem to hopefully alleviate some of the problematic devices I run into every now and again.
Haha yes I got there in the end. What issues are you having and what is your setup? The Aqara hub works well, the only issue is that with some devices HomeKit doesn’t share all the device controls.
@@MarkWattTech (I use ZHA) Primarily the Aqara E1 Curtain Motor, it has being the bane of my existence for about six months 😅 Setting it up just using the buttons just does not quite seem to consistently do the same thing every time. There's no way to reverse the motor if it thinks it's open rather than closed and vice versa. I have four of them, grouped into two groups for two sets of curtains. So I couldn't even if I had the hub configure the travel ranges in the app then repair it homeassistant preserving the travel ranges like I can with those blinds. I then made the amazing decision to rebuild my zigbee network and I couldn't get them to set back up properly again, this even is ignoring setting the travel range which is an absolute nightmare. 😂 I am happy to report although a slight workaround the new hub arrived it paired relatively easily with Home Assistant through Apple Homekit (I had to reset the hub first for some weird reason) both sets of curtains are working perfectly I can even use the mushroom cover cards with both the position slider and the open and close buttons, and it works beautifully. Only slight bug which I'm ignoring for the time being is all four motors have disappeared from the Kara app I don't know if that's normal behaviour? If I need to edit the settings again I'll just repair them as it's a relatively straight forward process through the new hub. Are you using aqara magic cube? If yes, is there a way to get Blueprint for Z2M to work in home assistant? The blueprint I got doesn't work flipping to the side is not recognised.
I’ve got the newer cube and SkyConnect and all I’m getting is shake and rotate. I was wondering if the Aqara E1 USB stick Hub would help. It’s a cheaper version of the M2
I am also curious about that. I have one H1 switch at home. And there is a problem that I don't get release event from any button. This means that hold dimming function is not possible. Because you don't know when to stop dimming automation. Does anyone have an idea how to do it? Is there a realese button event? I don't have that in my Z2M setup.
I've recently invested quite a bit in a couple of M2's (more on that in a second), three T1 LEDs 'repeaters' [not] and various flood, contact and temp sensors. I initially brought just one M2, but found that the end devices (battery stuff) was a tad unreliable at the extremes of our home.... so I brought three T1 LEDs to act primarily as repeaters (likes a good, but really I wanted a 'dumb' wired zigbee repeater...... but the T1s don't seem to do that, and tech support have failed to discover why.... so I ended up sharing the devices over two M2s (not ideal). Any of this resonate ? or differ from others experiences?
Great video, thanks for sharing! I have a question about the switches. I bought one to try, bearing in mind a replacement of the traditional switches. However, many of my switches are in frames of 2-3 items (single switch + wall socket is the most common combination). I tried to install one of those and it doesn't fit. With the M3 you can now utilise Matter or HomeKit and share the devices to HA. Again it's still down to personal preference. Using Aqaras hub has some nice features and the devices can be paired and switched out super easy.
