Great video, Mikie 👋 from a fellow PM in Seattle! lol at the classic rainy Seattle days + so interesting to hear that most of your work is coding! When I was a Microsoft PM I never coded, spent most of my days doing roadmapping (prioritization!), product development with UX/marketing/dev teams, strategy work. Cool to see how things differ for everyone.
Hello! A Peruvian speaks to you who is gradually becoming passionate about the world of programming. I'm writing it in Google Translate in case you noticed, hahaha (I hope I can learn English later). I watch these types of videos that inspire me to get into a lot more about the career I want to study (computing and informatics, software development). I wish you the best in your work, I loved that you have recorded your tour of your neighborhood since the houses in your country are beautiful compared to those in South America. Thanks for the video! :D
I’m an engineer and started working at Intel remotely too so this video was very relatable 😂😂 (just subscribed - love finding other RUclipsrs in tech!)
Haha yes, you can usually utilize whatever machine you want as long as it falls under compliance. Though if you are working on something related to Windows OS, you probably want to be using windows (or have a VM ready).
Question for you!!! I currently work for a top aerospace/defense company as a senior software engineer. I want to transition to PM role at MSFT. A hiring manager from MSFT reached out to me for a 1st round interview for a senior software engineer role at MSFT, I told him I’m looking to transition to PM and not interested in continuing as full-on SWE. Was that a bad move? Would appreciate your response
Hey there! I'm not a hiring manager so take my opinions with a grain of salt. Overall, I don't think there is a problem with being honest and saying you are more interesting in PM roles. On the otherhand, if you did accept the SWE roll, it might be easier to transition to a PM role since you are already in the company. Good luck!
It varies a lot based on the company and the team but basically it’s your job to make sure the project/program/product your team is working on is going smoothly and on track! So my team needs more software development work done, so I fill that role of the software developer so that the product can continue on track!
Dude i'm still junior in programming so leetcode i think it is so hard for me so i want you to recemoned if you know any another platform it great fot beginners like me 😅
For free learning tools I’d suggest watching some intro to programming RUclips videos. Also to test yourself occasionally, I’d just stick with the leetcode easy questions and make sure to go through the answers even if you weren’t able to answer one! Also you can check out Codeforces which is for competitive programming.
biiiig lofi vibes in seattle... great video michael, gave me a great insight to see what my past project manager is up to now in his new PM position 😛
Thanks dude, hope you're doing well!
your content is so slept on
Haha thanks, glad you liked it!

Hey good to see another Seattle PM! Ya it’s always interesting how PM responsibilities can drastically change just based on the team!
Honestly this is really cool
Thanks! Glad you liked it!

Hey there! Google translate does a pretty good job haha, thanks for the kind words and good luck!
Hi! Great video man, keep producing such quality content!
Thanks so much!
Love this, great video!
Thanks so much!
MIQL no problem I enjoy your content and perspective. Looking forward to more, keep it up!
Really neat! I'm starting my remote journey with Microsoft soon, so this gave me insight into what to expect, thanks!!
Glad you found it useful! Congrats and good luck!
Wow, those Seattle views! I've always wondered what it would be to live in Seattle. I love those light rainy days. Love the choice of music.
Thanks! And ya Seattle can be very aesthetic during its rainy periods haha
Let me know if you have any questions about what I do at Microsoft?
Which languages you use there? Btw great vid
@@GaithTalahmeh Thanks! So it'll depend on your team/project, but right now I'm mostly using C#
@@ByteOfMichael Thanks for the response ♥️ By the way, What are the type of produducts you for (Because I know C# and may have an opportunity there)
Do you mean like what products I work on?
@@ByteOfMichael Exactly
I’m an engineer and started working at Intel remotely too so this video was very relatable 😂😂 (just subscribed - love finding other RUclipsrs in tech!)
haha thanks! And good luck at Intel (love that company)!
3:35 Bakery run?!?! Yes - this is DEFINITELY the role for me. And it pays really well too I hear. Base, signing, stock options, oh yeah!
Ya there are definitely a lot of perks working for Microsoft haha!
Can you do a comparision video about software dev jobs in different cities? Like say why did you choose Seattle over say SF bay area, Nyc or Austin
Good idea for a video! I'll look into it!
I’m looking for program Manager roles in Seattle entry level,, currently pursuing my bachelors in business administration! Can you help me get one?
this might be a dumb question - but can you use mac products if you work at microsoft? coding on macOS > windows
Haha yes, you can usually utilize whatever machine you want as long as it falls under compliance. Though if you are working on something related to Windows OS, you probably want to be using windows (or have a VM ready).
m:chael i was told that if you use a mac while working at MS it could stop your growth in the company. essentially like a blacklist
Do you mainly use c#/.Net?
Ya pretty much!
happy to see, that I'm not alone listening Daft Punk while coding ❤❤❤😁 --
Great music honestly
@@ByteOfMichael I also listen to Monstercat :) : ruclips.net/user/results?search_query=monstercat

Great page
I had no idea program managers actually contributed code :O Is this common in msft?
Haha it’s not really common, on that team I was more of a dev/PM hybrid
I think it's more of a TPM thing rather than PM
What does a PM do?

You're a program manager or a product manager?
Do you work with people who have masters or bachelors in information systems management? What do you think about the degree?
Unfortunately I’m not sure if I work with anyone that has that degree so I’m not too familiar with it

@@ByteOfMichael i'm thankful for you 😊😊🌹
I recommend you watch Jujutsu Kaisen and/or attack on titan!
I didn’t know that Technical Program Manager actually codes. TPM should know technical stuff but coding isn’t big part of job
It really depends on the team and company!
I received an Offer letter from Microsoft 😊
I am joining Microsoft asap 😊
So you spend most of the day doing weather reports. Can't say that's a bad gig.
you are a software engineer not a PM.
R u otako 🤣🤔?
Maybe a lil
