I wanted to share a day in my life as a Program Manager so I hope you enjoyed this video! If you want to see more similar videos in the future let me know. Otherwise, next week ill do an apartment tour of a building in Bellevue. Ill see you then! 😁
Your videos are literally the best. I don’t know if you remember my previous comment on another video but I’m the girl relocating from Chicago to Seattle and I also work at Amazon, just started as a Sr. Account Manager. So hello fellow Amazonian thank you so much your videos have helped me prepare for my move which is happening this week!
I do remember! And thanks for your comment. Also that’s exciting! You’re coming at one of the best times. The cherry blossoms at UW are just starting to bud so if it’s sunny it should look beautiful!
Every time my BF hears the **ding ding** of the streetcar, it reminds him of the '80's song, "Tainted Love"...lol. The views from your office are gorgeous. I can't wait for the cherry blossoms to be in full bloom - they're sooo pretty!
Great video. Quick question: When you joined, how was the onboarding process? Did you receive PM training? I feel like not enough people talk about that part.
Thanks! And I did. It was more informal than I expected. I was essentially given 3 weeks to complete various online trainings that taught about Amazon and some skills for being a PM at Amazon. Probably in the past many of these trainings were in person cause the onboarding was a bit less than I expected. Although my team onboarded me to the specific tasks I would be doing so most of the actual onboarding will be with your team/manager.
Hi ty for the video! I am currently at a sort center in Seatac. Abt to apply to our TOM team later this year. I am also studying cyber security at a local school. Still researching what corporate role would be good for me down the road and looks like your role is such a fun and peaceful one. May I ask how are the pay? Are they in the 6 figures or less? Ty!
For an L4 PM at Amazon the pay starts at 69,000 but for L5 it jumps to 95,000. Other companies have different pay scales. From what I’ve seen, the L5 equivalents at other companies get 100,000 - 130,000.
Glad you enjoy them 😊. And it’s pretty safe. I’ve never had any issues so far. That’s also cause there are many other Amazon employees making the same or similar walks so I’m never the only person walking
Hey! Wanted to ask is the PM role similiar to an AM role or transition? If I was an AM looking to go into being a PM how easy or completely different would the role be? I would love to connect on chime to learn more
Hello, It’s a little different, but many of the PMs I know were AMs before moving over. If you become a PM for the same business you’re an AM, it should be an easy transition. Although most people become an L5 before because Amazon posts more internal L5 PM roles. Otherwise, I’ve found that PMs who were AMs before have some of the best insight and are very successful. Feel free to contact me at cjd@ or go ahead and ask here Hope that helps!
Yes and no. If you have prior working experience or worked as an area manager at Amazon then you can get it without a degree. I know of a former bar tender who became a Program Manager. A degree helps get it without prior work experience though
Great video Chris, I am joining as a program manager in Amazon this May, your video was a perfect sneak to peek into the role. May I have your LinkedIn handle, please? I could really use your guidance, please?

Haha now whenever I hear it, that song will come to mind! And same here, only a couple days away from full bloom so I am excited as well!
So cool! haha I love the coffee scene
Thanks!
Lol yeah coffee is important, but showing it for almost a third of a video that's supposed to be your whole workday day? Fair enough...
@@roopwind haha I got a little carried away when editing 😅
@@Chris_jae lol if it's a consolation, it still came out pretty cool!
@@roopwind haha thanks!
My ops manager at my fullfilment center just got a job for a program manager so it’s pretty cool to see what they do day to day

Hey Chris, I am trying to transition into PM from fulfillment and would love to see more content about this or connect via chime, thanks in advance !
That’s exciting! Many of our best PMs come from operations. I’ll be sure to make more content. Feel free to find me using cjd

Hello Chris, I really enjoyed watching your video. Is it safe to walk from your place to Amazon office?
Glad you enjoy them 😊. And it’s pretty safe. I’ve never had any issues so far. That’s also cause there are many other Amazon employees making the same or similar walks so I’m never the only person walking
Thank you for your kind reply! I look forward to moving to Seattle!
