I have experience working in Product Management at Microsoft in AI & Machine Learning, as well as Cisco in Wireless Technologies. I'm originally from Mexico City and I moved to the U.S. in 2015 to study my MBA at Duke University. Hey Diego thank you so much for your videos they've been really insightful on PM. I have an interview coming up with MSFT as a PM. I will check out your playlist to prepare but also I had 2 questions about the role. What are the hours like? and How can someone like me who is an Accounting major make an impact as a PM? If I am successful in getting to this PM role I dont want to feel like my Accounting degree will go to waste (if that makes sense).

About work/life balance: Honestly, it's awesome. Sure, as a PM sometimes you have to work late, sometimes you work on weekends (VERY RARE at MSFT), but most of the time... and depending on the team... can be a 8:30 to 5:30~6:00 job. In my opinion, pretty good.
Also, the culture is amazing :)
About Accounting: The beauty of a job like PM is that your unique experience brings A TON of value to the team. You'll be working with a lot of incredibly smart people, and your experience in accounting will bring a fresh, new, different perspective that can certainly benefit customers. Besides, while I'm certainly not an expert in accounting, I'm sure there are products at Microsoft to which you can contribute a lot to with that expertise ;)

Hi Diego. Your videos are life changing and career growth provoking. Please I just finished presenting my roadmap for next year. The Engineering VP has a lot of feedback that the plan doesn’t make sense given the current state of the product. What do I do? What negotiation tips and strategy should I use?
Hi Arekam, thanks for asking! Well, start by understanding the WHY? WHY doesn't it make sense to them? Did you provide enough evidence to support your backlog? If yes, then try to understand one level deeper WHY they are sharing that feedback

I've 5 years of work ex at SAP (including entrepreneurship sabbatical to Singapore- under a VC firm) and have joined MS CS recently.. Love to get into PM. Any advice on how to approach ? I hardly know of anyone from MS getting into PM
