    Worked like a charm! Managed to switch off my alarm that wouldn’t switch off. Really appreciate this video! Best wishes from Edinburgh, Scotland.

    Hej!
    Jag har en 9-3 -08 Linear utan larm. Jag googlade runt för en tid sen och hamnade på ett forum där dom menade att man kunde aktivera larmet (endast skalskydd) på den om man skaffade en huvkontakt.
    Något du har koll på?

    • @TechCars
      @TechCars  5 лет назад

      Om du vill lägga till larm så måste du programmera in larm och då vill bilen ha siren m.m för att det ska funka. Har dock aldrig testat men jag tror det krävs mer än huvkontakten.

    THANK YOU! My '04 9-3 convertible has had a malfunctioning alarm since I bought it. It goes off all the time...even when I am driving it! I came out to my driveway one summer day and found a big SHOE PRINT on the passenger door. Yes, it was so annoying for my neighbors that one of them kicked my car out of frustration. I am ordering a Tech 2 clone and will be doing this procedure.
    One other question. I had to replace the ICM in my car because the back lighting quit working, and I got a used replacement on Ebay (part numbers match). The car this ICM came from has far fewer options than my car has, so when I plug it into my car I am missing things like the 6-disc in-dash changer, rain sensing wipers, and parking sensors. I assume the Tech 2 will be able to activate these functions on the new ICM? Thanks for your help, and keep the videos coming!

      Thanks for watching! I hope everything works out once you get your Tech2 :) When adding the ICM to the car you need take get through some steps and there you will choose which features you have :)

    Hello SaabCars , very cool video. I have quick question for you . I own Saab 9-3 Aero 2004 . I does have alarm misbehaving ( going off at night etc. ) . I have removed driver side tire to disconnect Siren unit in the wheel opening , but it is not their ? It is also not in the trunk side openings. Do you know where the alarm/siren unit may be ? Also if I just disable it in the software as you show - can that work without physically disconnecting the unit . Great thanks in advance .
    Regards.

      Hi. Have you checked the faultcodes? Might be a doormodule that makes the alarm goes off. The best is if you can fix it. You can however remove the alarm functtionality ofcourse.

    We have a 2005 9-3 and cant seem to find the TWICE option in the body section. When we go there is anti theft protection. Clicking that is has alarm disengage and panic options. It only allows for remote and something else. No off or without option. Any thoughts? Trying to fix an alarm that goes off randomly anytime the doors are locked with key fob.

    • @TechCars
      @TechCars  4 года назад

      Hi Kelly. There's no TWICE module in the NG9-3. That's why you don't find it. You should be able to find things related to theft alarm in the menu. I don't have menu structure here at the moment, sorry.

    From my own (multiple times happened) experience and confirmed by few people from dealership, I would not mess (well, I can say "play with") TWICE settings at all. On old car. NEVER. Because twice has memory that is quite old and can have issues when re-written, so it can even forget the keys, fobs, other settings and you may have even issue to start your car then until getting some other twice with pair of keys, locks, everything, to replace & program the twice to ECU.

    • @TechCars
      @TechCars  7 лет назад

      Thanks for the good feedback. Yes that is something that should have been included in the instruction. If this is done to a car where the alarm is a big issue it can be useful. Let's just hope my 9-5 will work as intended throughout this series :-)

    • @PeterChomanic
      @PeterChomanic 7 лет назад +1

      This is why some dealerships claimed it's not a problem of re-programming. Well, on cars where regularly someone added / deleted options, or did some changes, it was all OK. But when after almost 20 years someone wants to pair a key or simply change settings on a 1997/1998 car in TWICE (I mean first changes in twice in many many years of not being written apart from factory set), it may as well mean it's his last drive with that until he'll not be able to start again because of memory of twice going crazy.
      Dealerships with that experience may even refuse to perform changes in twice to avoid having to fix someone's car by "breaking" it this way. You can imagine complains of customers after having some issues in a day or two that "until you did that last change, all was fine". aah.

      Hi Peter, I own a 2005 9.5 that is in pretty good condition at 240.000 km...
      The only issue that I have is that my parking sensors work only when the outside temperature exceeds 30°...
      But unfortunatly I have lost one of my keys, and the remote doesn't work anymore with the spare one..
      I can only use it as a standard key and need to manually open and close the door everytime i need to get in or out of the car..
      It starts the car no pbm , and I have no message on the SID...
      It was working though on 2/ 3 occasions for few days but nothing after that, so I thought it might have been a low battery issue and I have replaced the battery of course with a brand new one..)
      Impossible to get it to work properly since...
      Do you think I should buy a Tech 2 and try to marry that key with my car , or is it to old to take the risk to mess with the twice...?

    Hello, Great presentations. Recently, I've been getting "up close and personal" with an '03 Saab Arc. I'm trying to help a friend, who owns the car, and it's my first experience with Saab. I'm fairly experienced with car maintenance, but have never seen anything like this car. (electrical complexity). The car was "sitting" for the last 5 years. After checking various systems and items, getting a battery, I drove it about 30 miles to my location and now am having many issues. Most recently, the fob stopped working (was working fine) cant turn the key. Also cannot lock/unlock with the fob. The alarm has started "going off" at random times, so the battery is disconnected. The windows are down with no way to raise them. At a loss as to which direction I should go. As you know, no more dealers or GM help. Also, mentioned in one of your "episodes", diagnostic time at an independent shop is expensive. Should I "bite the bullet" and get a Tech2 clone? Any information or advice you could provide would be greatly appreciated. Again, really enjoy your videos. They're very well done and informative. Thanks for generously sharing your knowledge. BTW, when I drove the Arc, I was seriously impressed. Fast, is an understatement. It "ran like a scalded dog". to say the least!

      Thanks for watching. It's nice of you to help your friend to get his SAAB going again. With that many small errors/issues/faults I would just go ahead and get the Tech2. The alarm going off randomly could for example be one of the door locks, you don't know which until you pull the codes for this with the Tech2. Then you will have way better conditions with regards to fixing the issue rather than guessing. I usually say that the Tech2 almost everytime takes away the guess-work, it will tell you what you need to do. The clones these days are great. Most of the time it's the cables and the CANdi module that brakes down. I'm on my second CANdi, and it has lasted 2 years now I think. Had to replace one cable between the Tech2 and the CANdi, that's it. Best of luck with the car and don't hesitate to ask any question you like. BR Markus

      Many, many thanks BR Markus! I can't tell you how much I appreciate your super fast reply! I've been "all over" the internet the past few weeks trying to get some "education" on these cars. You and your presentations seemed so genuine and down to earth, I felt the need to "reach out".
      I think you mentioned, in one of your "episodes" , about the 03 Saab and the Tech2 need also to use a laptop/computer as part of the interface as well. Is this correct?
      I thank you, again, for your quick contact. Count me as a "new" subscriber and look for my donation! Cheers!

    Hi. It's Dummy Locksmith again. Thank you for your answer. I have one more question 2 in fact. What I'm understanding is
    that there is no transponder chip in this key, and that all the anti theft features are in the alarm itself ? So if I use the TECH2 to
    set the vehicle to the no alarm setting as shown in your presentation , then the car can be started with just the Mechanical key? Thanks again!

    • @TechCars
      @TechCars  7 лет назад

      There is a chip in the key because you have the immobilizer function of the car. It cannot be started unless you have the correct key inside the car. The Alarm and the immobilizer are separate functions.

      Does the Tech 2 program keys for the Saabs in an all keys lost situation ? Or copy keys only ?
      Thanks.

    • @TechCars
      @TechCars  7 лет назад

      You need to copy the key with the help from Tech2. If you have lost all your keys you need to contact the dealer and buy new ones.

    • @robertlongoria8798
      @robertlongoria8798 7 лет назад

      Ok . You are not understanding . I am a locksmith . I don't own a Saab. My costumers need keys made and
      I am asking if this tool is what i need to buy to make them those keys. If i buy this tool and I have to refer my costumers to the Saab dealer to make the keys why buy this tool. What tool would the dealer use? That is what I need to buy. Understand ?

    • @TechCars
      @TechCars  7 лет назад +1

      I get it! If you get a customer that wants a new key they have to provide the electronics themselves or have a dealership program new electronics to the car. If they provide the electronics, this is what you do for them. www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Replacement-fits-SAAB-9-3-9-5-3-BUTTON-Remote-Key-case-with-blank-cylinder-blade-/201211779112?hash=item2ed9281828:g:9mMAAOSwdpxUW5yt
      A mechanical replacement where they just take the old electronics and put in the new mechanical key which you copy or supply to them.
      You don't need the tech2 unless you want to be able to program the electronics to their car.
