Hey all:
I’ve done a significant amount of research and reading the last couple of days since filming this. I am currently in the process of trying to get security access. Thank you all in advance for any help you can provide and apologies for the blatant ignorance!
were you ever able to get security access? If so could you share any useful tips? Every route I go the links are too old. thanks in advance!
Ordered mine a few weeks ago. Got an old IBM laptop with a serial port. Can't wait to get mine working!!!

Welcome to the 90s Bud! Woohoo, you finally decided to join the Tech2 crowd. BUT i gotta tell you, after playing around yours will probably end up in the closet like mine because once you update the car's settings that's pretty much it. For any kind of diagnostic and actual repairs I use OBDlink cable with T7Suite or TrionicCanFlasher. For example, if you need to clone or reprogram a broken ECU the Tech2 is completely useless. Not sure why, but there must have been some kind of disconnect between GM(Saab) and ACDelco.
I’ve been looking forward to this! I always wondered if the knockoffs could program the car or be able to accurately diagnose faults like a failed parking sensor. I must confess I was too wary of the Chinesium (as you so eloquently put it) to justify a few hundred buckaroos if it didn’t work..but as you mentioned, genuine GM Tech2s run $1000+. The cheapest I’ve seen on ebay was $800. But this has given me hope! I eagerly await your Tech2 series/episodes :)

Trionic seven makes videos on tech2 and you can do a lot of cool stuff with it. For example, it is possible to program the 3 tick turn indicator.

Very cool video. I have a 99 Cutlass and I plan on keeping it the rest of my life (strange but it’s just what imma do lol). Getting a Tech2 will be great, especially for right now while I’m mainly just working on my personal vehicle. I have a cheaper $25 code reader that I can read basic codes with. I wanna get the Launch x431 but I may get the Tech2 if it’s significantly cheaper, especially if under $300-400.
yeah you can get the tech2 itself for $300-400. the laptop and security access will cost more, but you might not even need that

Good luck getting globalTIS running, always an adventure the first time around. Newest windows you can run is win7 32-bit, and the serial adapter you bought must be of a compatible chipset (there’s a list on the the tech2wiki online of known working ones). It’s an awesome device to have once you get it running, but sadly you need TIS to do any changes at all on the NG9-3’s

@@AutoAutopsy If you install onto your Windows 10 machine, be sure NOT to update Java from version 6. It's needed to get from one spot to another. I use GlobalTIS and IT WORKS! Used it on a knock off Mongoose, just ordered my Tech 2.

Hi, I'd like to know this, With this TEch2 clone, Can I remove the actual CIM module and add used one with a key? Because some poeple says with tech2 clone, we can't do programing, add/remove fonction need programing?
To remove the memory card. Just push it in and it should then pop up so you can grab it and take it out. It should work like a memory card slot on an older computer.

I just bought TCM from doorman which is refurbished . I have a 2011 Chevy Cruze LT would this work for me to program the TCM to my car ?
The cheap China tech 2 the card holder will not let you take it out unless you open it up which sucks so I just leave it in a good laptop to have is a dell d630 with the serial port and windows xp service packs 2 or 3 if you have any problems with connecting the tech 2 via the internet cable port thing sometimes it’s either not grounded on the inside or it’s software related I think the tech 2 has to be set at a baud rate of 115200.... I’m not too sure but something like that ...did you get the cracked tis2k working ?
i have not had time to look at security access yet; hoping to tackle that this week!

I've been seriously considering one of these myself..specifically with the 6.6 duramax..and any ls style gm..is this the complete package for relearn. Programs.and full functionality.
not sure if a duramax needs security access like my saab does, but this came with everything i needed to make it work with the car and perform basic functions. Obviously you'd need a chevy card and not a saab card though

You got an office chair damn... Some guy in my town is selling a tech2 for 450 he's selling the diagnostic apparatus ... He doesn't have all the adapters.. the power source i didn't see it.. the big cables he does have a candy module... I asked him if it's ready set up or do i need to buy the program. He told me it was set up already he didn't told me what card he has .... When i asked him if he had a saab? The tech 2 looks like a huge taser.... So do you recommend it is the price worth it ...

I had one issue with the candi module not working but it was a random occurrence. Great besides that

i can help you to install TIS2000 & Global TIS , But not all serial port work with TIS

Correct not all serial ports work im finding that out as well I to have a 4 year old one works great but cant get security access yet .

@@EA40 For tech 2? I have it installed onto my Win 10 machine. It will be best to get a RS-232 or DB 9 to USB adapter if you're using a workstation without serial port.

What is this security access you guys mention...must be a SAAB thing? I have a 2004 Chevy trailblazer ext and my tech2 does EVERYTHING! Ive programmed many modules to the car without any issues.
yeah, it's needed on the newer Saab 9-3's. I guess just an extra security layer that saab added

I’ve seen a video of yours where you borrowed a GM Tech 2 from a friend to re-marry ICM3 to your car when u upgraded from ICM2. How is the Chinese version compared to the OG GM one that you had borrowed from your buddy? Is it exactly the same? Does it lack any features? Would it be a good idea to buy the Chinese one over the GM one? I’ve been looking for a used GM Tech 2 but no luck. If they’re exactly the same, I’ll probably buy the same Chinese one. Thanks for your ever helping educational videos!

I just recently bought a clone Tech 2 and just installed TIS2000. I went through the security access process and at the end the result was access type 3. I'm not sure what the type 3 access allows you to do. I seen on the web that there is type 1, 2, and 3 but not much explanation on the functionality of the type. Any explanation would be appreciated with the access types....thx.

Ive' done a lot oh f research. I have everything set up. My XP computer's TIS 2000 communicates with my tech 2. I just don't have security access and it's the last piece of the puzzle. I keep getting "Access to Security Access denied" Help?

Yes. You also need security access though.

I can send you a link for all the software that you will need and to get level 1 access. Also, don’t use the cd that came with it! And, you will be loading windows XP on a dedicated laptop. One tip- if you ever have to program a key fob and it prompts you to insert a valid key, during the process, it means the key that is already programmed, then you would insert the blank when prompted. I did one last night and made that error, but no harm done. By the way, I’m buying a 2010 Saab 9-3 2.0T XWD, with only 90,000 miles on it! It’s not standard like I have wanted, but I got tired of losing deals on those rare beauties, so this will be a 6 speed automatic. This car is one owner, and in pristine condition! $7700. The lady took great care of it. I’m keeping my 07 9-3 2.0T with 213,000mi, and still running perfect!

hello. some of these tech 2 clones say in the specs that they program cars until 2007 .my car is a saab 9-3 2008 aero. what do you think about this?if i buy one of these i could program my car or not?i mean to marry parts etc
The tech2 should be the same. Saab used it for all of the 9-3’s. You’ll just need to make sure it has a Saab card

You dont need just windows, you either need Windows XP or an emulator of XP.
for Tis2000, yes. GlobalTIS can run on windows 8

@@AutoAutopsy I am a Mobile Mechanic. Do you have more and more tools is really good. But how would this compare to the original. You need to go online to be able to the keys with some cycle tis to something. I don’t know if the clone device will even go online.
So how much would it all cost? I see it’s 25 but the Saab card is like 147??? Kinda confused might ask my dad we should get one cuz we have a Saab I also plan on getting one this summer and a tech2 would be useful
Yeah, pricing varies depending on what you chose. Like i said, mine was around $340 with tax

For an OG9-3, 1999 - 2002, will you need security access to use the Tech2? Or is that for NG Saabs?
I think it depends. But I’m pretty sure you don’t need security access for just about everything on the OG

I think you need GDS 2 for this one with a MDI 2 interface.

I'm about to pay 165 to have a locksmith program a second key.
why? Find someone with a tech2 local to you!
He has a tech2. So he couldn't do it. Told me the car can only have four keys programed after that it has to be reset by removing the steering wheel lock. $600 for that. He said its the same work as if you lost the key and had to tow it to the shop to be replaced. So I'll probably wait

@@AutoAutopsy I am working on a station and have tech2. My car is 9.3 2.0 MY03. Tech2 is not stable with tcm and ecu updating, Also you need sps everytime.
MDI faster, compact, and work Better. Tech2win with mdi working good.
@@viavladi this is true. Its especially recommended for the Bosch me9 ecus in the v6 cars. You will almost certainly fail SPS programming with a tech 2 but an mdi itll run smooth. MDI is better but it has no interface so i think its not as popular because of that.
