  • In this video I take the guesswork out of hooking up a tech 2 to your new gen (2003-2012) Saab 9-3. If this video helped you out be sure to like, share and subscribe! Thanks for watching.
    *Additional Info*
    - CANdi stands for Controller Area Network Diagnostic Interface
    - All 2003-2012 Saab 9-3's & 2006 and up Saab 9-5 model years require the use of a CANdi module
    - TIS2000 works for vehicles up to 2007 model year. GM discontinued and replaced this program with GlobalTIS)
    - GlobalTIS should work on the same model years as TIS2000 but extends to 2010 model years.
    - 2011 and up model year 9-3 requires a temporary subscription to TIS2WEB from Orio
    - Also a quick clarification - the tech2 will get power from the OBD port however, it's best to use the additional wall plug cord as shown in video so you get consistent power when having to cycling the ignition key on and off

      Regarding the Tripp Lite Keyspan serial port/R232 to USB adapter... I use VMPlayer to a Saab virtual machine running XP. I had to download the drivers for the Tripp Lite (Windows XP version) onto a flash drive and then install those XP drivers on my VM, as well as setup the Tripp Lite to COM 3. More details in the Saab net pages.

    Great video. Thankx a million.
    How many Saabs, VIN numbers, can a Tech2 hold? I have 4 Saabs... 1997 900s, 1999 9-3 and two 2008 9-3s. Hopefully someone can answer this question...

    Very informative! Do you know if the tail lights can be turned off with a Tech 2 like the DRLs Using the headlight switch? Noticed after programming .when I turn off my headlights the rears always stay on.

    Do you need to have a laptop to use the tech 2? Nice video by the way.

      Thanks! You don't need a laptop if only looking at trouble codes. However you will need a laptop for security access to be able to make any adjustments.

    Is the GM 33.004 memory card allow any dtc read or OBD communication to a 2007 Saab 9-5 at all? Im unable to communicate at all.

    The obd2 will automatically give power to the tech2. So technically you don't even need the power supply.

    Do you have to get security access every time you need to do something to the car that requires it? Or is GlobalTIS just a one time use thing and after you grant security access for your Tech2 once you're done and never need GlobalTIS again?

    • @WeakestofWeeks
      @WeakestofWeeks  2 года назад +1

      You shouldn't need security access again after obtaining it for one car. This is because the tech2 stores the vehicles VIN. Mine has occasionally asked for security access for the same car again but that's like due to me using my scanner on more than one Saab.

    • @nickreichel8177
      @nickreichel8177 2 года назад

      @@WeakestofWeeks I hope that doesn't happen often. It was a pain getting the security access to work for me on one of my Saabs, once I get it on the 2nd I do not want to have to keep going back to the well. We'll see...

    Hey Gary, is SAI delete an option in Tech2? I know you had Brian at Vtune program your SAI delete into your custom tune. Living in California, tuning is not an option unless it has EPA/CARB executive order number. 😢
    At a minimum I would like to do an SAI delete…thoughts?

    • @WeakestofWeeks
      @WeakestofWeeks  Месяц назад

      Unfortunately the Tech2 cannot disable the SAI system. You can unplug the SAI system but it will throw a check engine light. To my knowledge, the only way to eliminate the check engine light is through a tuner like what I did.
