Great stuff! I always dreaded potential key/CIM/ISM issues when I had my car, but thankfully I never had any problems. And even if something did come up, we have all the great content here to help us out.
Thank you! Yes, I hope you never have to deal with it! 👍🏼😁 lol
Is there a link thanks
The great "lost communication with ECU", I hate it. The first time I was reprogrammed a CIM and it told me that failure I was thinking: oh f... now the car I destroyed, time to scrap it.
Mostly I have this failure when I get a waiting time before. When redoing it there is normally no waiting time and no failure.
It’s so annoying! I’ve had it happen with some many random modules. I have no idea what the issue could be, but thankfully with enough persistence I’ve been able to program what I’ve needed to 😅🤣
Love your work brotherman..!
Thanks Ed! 🫡
Great video, man, one again!🎉
Thanks!
This one's gonna get a bunch of views! Thanks for this.
lol! Glad you enjoyed
Patience.....you have much more patience for the ridiculousness of the "failed" crap than I do! In all fairness, KNOWING that it just likes to hassle you, and persistence will eventually pay off, would go a long way to giving me more patience! Awesome video, way more involved than I previously believed. My gremlin was changing out the power distribution center (fuse box) by the battery. Ugh....suddenly the wipers, high beams, horn did not work. Replaced with another and everything that was not working came back, but now it would not engage reverse lights! Since I do not have a Tech2, I had to go to the stealership. All is well now.
Great video, amazing patience! I look forward to more 9-3 videos (only because I have a 9-3), but the 900 videos are awesome too!
They can be real PITAs sometimes. Glad you got all it all sorted now though!!
Just purchased a BSR cold Air intake can’t wait to install it
Great! Just hope it doesn’t crack; the are unfortunately pretty cheaply made. Do88 makes a great high quality system. Either way, you’ll love the sounds you get from it 👊🏼👍🏼
Great work - this video is going to be very popular I bet, lol
Thanks! Unfortunately, you might be right 🥲🤣
Nice video! Ran into this on a couple of them so far, including a red wagon that was gonna be scrapped by the seller. I see skirts in her near future. Nice...
Maybe 👀🤔
Lessgoooo the 9-3 is back
Super hyped! I’ll have a ton of more content on it in the next few months as I get it ready for SOC

you always make excellent videos. Where did you buy the software and the tech 2 handheld?
The tech2 was bought on aliexpress and I paid someone to install globalTIS for me: ruclips.net/video/PIgQJeFK8PU/видео.htmlsi=5KETvhlGv6plD_dq
Losing connection could be a couple of things. My Candi module cord has a bad wire inside that if it is moved or at an odd angle, I lose connection. Another issue is the ABS unit board can fail and make the bus intermittent. Currently dealing with that on my wagon now, saving up for another ABS module....lol
Oh really? Thanks for the heads up! Maybe it’s not my car then, but I hope it’s not ABS lol
Very good Bravo my friend hello my Greece 🇬🇷
Thanks sir!
Awesome tutorial. I'm thinking I need a new CIM. I have a 2004 and I've had the steering lock malfunction since 2014 . I didn't have a problem turning the key, I just couldn't get the car to start. I replaced the ignition module (part the key goes into) and the lock box under the dash, but same issue. Do those need programmed to the car? I was under the impression those parts were plug and play.
The ISM (where the key goes)is plug and play, so you should be good there. I’d recommend getting scanned with a tech2 for codes before replacing the CIM, just so you can confirm
O3 and 04 are same for year 2003 model can use the model.2004 clock spring & CIM Module your saying ?
Great video! Very well done! I have a 2008 Saab 9-3 Aero. My son lost the one key that came with it. I will buy a CIM with matching key for 2005 and later models. I understand from your excellent video that I will need the Tech 2. What is the computer program needed to unlock the security? Many thanks!
thank you! It is GlobalTIS. Good luck with the repair
Thank you@@AutoAutopsy Please keep up the outstanding presentations. Your outstanding videos are a great help.
Does the 2003 Saab 93 arc have be programmed when you change out the CIM Module? As simple plug and play thanks ?
It's weird not seeing your Saab 9-3 Turbo-X there🏁🏁🏁
:( long gone but not forgotten!

Yeah but the S3 is a better car (sorry to say it) I still miss my 2003 93 Aero. But my A4 2.0 Tdi Quattro, Handles better costs less to get to work in fuel and is fast enough for the roads I use to get there. Has 380Nm and 177BHP and whilst it is nowhere near as qquick as the SAAB the 3.0TDI i'm thinking about getting is a lot quicker than the 93 Aero.
Do you have to purchase security access thanks
Can you please send me the link upon how to program keys using tech2 ...or is that your OBDII SCANNER CODES READER NAME I HAVE VCDS SOFTWARE AND ITS WITH WINDOWS 10 software..i was wondering if this plug n play? And you used both keys or the new key fob only in regards to gaining access where you then switched over to your laptop using which specific software there for limited purpose of programming new key fob for your 2003 Saab. 8 got same year Saab 9-3 arc tho ???
I had that same issue with the errors mine got solved by putting in the air bag mine was bugging out because it was out
👍🏼😁
Im working on one now keeps losing communication and cant get the cim to program 😢
Airbag model was changed between model year 2005 and 2006.
Yep! And CIM between 04-05
Yeah. The scary reality of owning a NG 9-3. The dreaded CIM! Great informative video. Unfortunately as our cars age the circuit boards develop dry joints and or connectors that marry up all the different systems corrode. If we keep replacing our CIMs with second had ones they'll be no cars left on the road. It would only take someone with a good understanding of circuitboard technology to track down the problem. Is it a connection issue, dry joint, IC, capacitor, resister, diode or operational amplifier? If we can't fix the CIM board can we have a replacement manufactured? A copy so to speak. Every time I go to start my Aero I think. "Will it start?" I have been really thinking of selling my car and buying a 9000 or 900. My old 900i had 250 000 kms on it when I bought it. It did another 250 000 kms before I lost it. Accident. Insurance said it was not worth repairing and just paid out. My old 900 was so cheap to run and maintain. Craziest part is my old 900i is worth more that my Aero is. Apparently that's progress. Cheers from downunder.
Great comment! That’s definitely got to be a concern, hopefully similar to the ECUs, someone can figure out how to rebuild/refurb them. The 900’s values are crazy..mine has got to be worth more than my 9-3 too, it’s an odd feeling
Had my 93 about 2 weeks before I needed to get the CIM replaced Mine kept bringing Stability control failure up in the SID with the dreaded "Bing Bong" noise
I say dreaded because in the 8 years I owned the carthe SID would "Bing Bong" every 2 or 3 months which meant at least another £200-300 to be spent on the car
Just to Add when replacing the CIM it can be programmed for up to 6 keys (A new unit comes with 2 keys)and any key you have new or used can also be programmed on( this is the only time used keys can be programmed onto a CIM). Usually you can't reprogram used keys to an existing CIM. when you get to 6 keys you either have to buy a new CIM or ave it reprogrammed to remove the keys.
Interesting…so if you get a *new* CIM, you can reprogram existing keys? That’s kinda cool!
@@AutoAutopsy
Yes it's the only time it will let you is when you add the keys during install. once you finish marrying it you then can't add old keys
That’s so good to know I can program my old keys to a new cim! I bought a new dead stock cim several years ago because my cruise control stopped working and I haven’t installed it yet. I’ve been so nervous about bricking my car trying to fix something that I don’t actually need in my city.
how to fix stability control failure light 2003 saab 9-3
Start with a steering angle sensor calibration with a tech2
Do you have a video on replacing the computer?
Which computer? The ecu? If so, yes: ruclips.net/video/p4JbHSR6FMg/видео.htmlsi=3B8wwHYUozKf_jG0
Oh yea I have a quick question I have 149k miles and I’m assuming I need new struts and shocks on my 08 93 where to you recommend getting them replaced at?
Maptun makes great suspension kits. I’d recommend them or esaabparts: ruclips.net/video/b5qlSm5GfVo/видео.htmlsi=tvu0frqpKHW9CBGY
Okay thank you very much I appreciate it!
Hi I’m thinking about changing my 9-3 2004 Cab auto steering wheel to later design can this be done? Can I just swap over the airbag and the control buttons to the later wheel.
Thanks in Advance UK Saab Owner
Yep! I did this on this exact car a while back: ruclips.net/video/F9NPfPxXskc/видео.htmlsi=ecC4mjgN4xw-oRys
Hey what model laptop do you have?
It’s just a basic old dell with windows 10. I’m not sure if the exact model, unfortunately
