@@hpd6841 someome I know was in the hospital and a friend who she had an argument with the day before still showed up to support her. As he put it "fight or no fight I wanted to be here"
For as many flaws as Luke had in season 6, he still proves he is always there for Lorelai in a crisis, and that is why he is the best guy for her. He really is selfless most of the time
Luke coming way before Christopher shows how much better of a person he is compared to Chris, and the fact he cares about Lorelai way more despite them being broken up
Let's get something straight here... Babette runs to Luke's Diner and tells him about Lorelei's Dad being in the hospital and within Less than 2.5 Luke drops everything and makes a B-Line to the hospital. Once there he picks up Richard's car from Yale, shovels the walkway and runs back to the Diner, grabs food for everyone. Then Chris shows up like 4 to 6 hours later (I'm trying to give Chris the benefit of the doubt). And he's put out because Luke showed up. Add the look on Emily's face.
Uhhh Emily, love you honey, but you deserved a slap in the face even THINKING 'what is HE doing here' then guilting him into doing errands for her family like a servant.
Luke really cares about both Lorelai and Rory, he really does more than anything else... On the other side we can see how Christopher really doesn't care about them, he just cares about his jealousy... And Lorelai really deserves someone like Luke... L&L are the perfect match 🥺❤️❤️❤️
Emily is not all bad, but this is one of the moments where I dislike her. She is so classist and shallow. "Oh, God What is he doing here?" and then asks him several huge favors during the workday.
she was rude, yes, but asked him favours which is something she would not trust him before. I feel she appreciated the friendship at that moment, something that would never happen before. she is still classist and shallow, but she trusted him being Emily this was big lol
Luke and Lorelai are friends first then partners just like Lorelai and Rory are friends first then mother and daughter. Chris only wants Lorelai not Rory for himself and that will not work in Lorelai's world
Christopher really sucks but mostly in this moment... He doesn't care about Lorelai or his daughter, he just care about his jealousy.... Really hate him, Lorelai doesn't deserve anyone like Christopher....
The worst part about this is it could just have easily been a situation where Rory was hurt Lorelei's is the mother of his child and as a father he should have at the very least checked the messages to make sure nothing bad happened
Algo que nunca cambia entre "lorelai" y "Luke", es que siempre están presentes el uno para el otro,en los momentos difíciles...y "emily", siempre, descuadrando a su hija.
you would think since Chris liked to have the appearance of being happy with Lorelai he would have at least showed up and pretended since they are still married but no
So let me get this straight. Luke the person who don't like hospitals dropped everything on what he was doing and wemt straight to the hospital once he heard from Babbitt that Richard was in the hospital to she how Lorelai and Rory was doing and ask if they needed any help. While Chris Lorelai husband and Rory so called das couldn't even bothered to check his messages didn't show up. So all Chris fans how do you like someone like him who can even be bothered when Lorelai and Rory needed him the most.
As if a single mother whos baby daddy could never be bothered to be a part of her kids or her life would refuse another dad who desperately wants to be a part of his own childs life, and _only_ had to write an honest recommendation for him. Yes she still had feelings for Luke but it was about a CHILD. Chris is a jerk. Lorelei was there for him when his dad died at the detriment of her relationship and hes too self centred to even pick up the phone. It was always going to be Luke (bar the crap and uncharacteristic storyline when he hid April from her)
Chris should have been there from the start. I remember needing my husband last year, but he couldn't because he died 4 years before and I was still mad. That is really hard, but I had my daughter and son-in-law to help me.
Neither luke nor chris are martyrs. They both only do things if they want to do them. The difference between them is fhat luke has such a deep desire to be there with or for (depending on the status of their relationship) lorelai that he genuinely wants to do things he wouldn't want to do otherwise.
I always wonder how people like Chris and Lorelai together but don't see how awful Chris is as a husband. or prefer Chris to Luke. Luke is tens times the man Chris will ever be.
If you’re in a relationship and your partner calls you, then calls you again, and again, and again, and again, etc. You pick up the phone to see what’s going on. If nothing is happening and she just wants to talk you can say “sorry. I’m still upset. I just need some time”. No big deal because there’s nothing going on. You don’t shut her out, especially when you have a freaking daughter together who, for all you know, could be sick. An emergency could pop up. Chris was being childish and ruined his own marriage. Luke showed up because he knew Lorelai would be devastated about her dad, she had shown up for him when he needed the letter for the custody case, and he wanted to make sure she was ok. He immediately let her know that while he’d come he was fine to turn around and leave. The important thing is letting her know those things. I’m here for you, if this isn’t ok I will leave right now. Perfect. Mind you, he expected Chris to be there, which would’ve made him (Luke) uncomfortable because he’d have to see Lorelai with someone else. He put that aside to, again, show up because he didn’t care about his own comfort.
Emily might say that she doesn't approve of Luke but even she can't deny that he can be depended on in a crisis and has no problem giving him a list a chores. (Tho it might just be that she views him as hired help)
When Chris father died Lori was with Luke she went to Chris house with a bottle and if I was Luke I tell Emily wheres Ur son in law why he isn't helping out
When u have a half dozen messages from ur partner u should check in because what if god forbid it wasn't her dad that was in the hospital what if it was Rory? Its just not ok to be that petty when ur upset
If your partner calls you repeatedly and you have a child at least call back because you don’t know if it’s an emergency or not, you don’t just have a temper tantrum and abandon everyone
People misunderstand Emily in this scene. In her own weird way, her behavior is actually a compliment. She is asking these things of Luke because she knows he is 100% dependable. She wouldn't have asked otherwise. No hesitation, just direct instructions and she knew he would get the job done. She wouldn't just trust anyone with these things.
Interesting take. I always saw it as her trying to get him to leave and not come back by sending him on this long errand. Really she could have had any of the workers at the house go collect his car if necessary. The way she was so rude to him made it seem like she was trying to get him away from Lorelai and Rory because she could never not interfere. However I see your point about the fact that she trusted him enough to go drive Richard's Jaguar in the first place lol
I Know he's upset and Everything, and that has Happened between him and Luke but he doesn't have to be like this and Should have been there for his Wife Loreali whom I despise/hated while her Dad was at the hospital because she Never wanted marry Chris as It was Her fault after Having Rory, her daughter pregnant at 16.
As angry as Chris was at Lorelai shame on him for not coming to the hospital
There really was no excuse. I know he comes later, but it's just... I don't think Chris is a horrible person, but he's a *terrible* romantic partner.
Right. He’s upset, I get it. But she needed him and he wasn’t there.

Costume designer did a great job here! Lorelai, Rory and Luke wearing dark green so they look like they belong together as a family (which they do 😭)
I never notice that
and very flattering as well
👏👏👏👏
I love how he’ll do anything for her no matter what 🥺

Yeah he is a selfish prick. There is always family/in law issue's etc but during the important times you put your shit aside
And Emily can't even stand Luke, yet she knows damn well that he's more dependable than Chris.
True on all accounts.
That's just proves Luke is 20× better then Chris ever was.

Luke is so cute and careful with Lorelai. Emily was so out of limits and he still patient all the time.
And Chris (🙄) so selfish, AGAIN!!
Remember when Luke and Lori broke up Lori call Luke and left the message than Luke ran to Lori to see if she's ok
I remember that, loved that scene
He didn't think about what he was doing, he just ran away to check on Lorelai and be with her... 🥺❤️❤️❤️
Notice how even though she was on bad terms with both Luke AND Chris, only one of them was still there for her.
Luke care so much about Lorelai...l wish they were back together 😌💓
Can’t help but absolutely love the person that Luke is in Lorelais world & whom he strives to be!! Amazing! 🥰
