❤❤ I always hated my name...Then Europe came out with this song. Made me so happy!!! Lol 😅 Great song of course. You should check out Slaughter....Fly to the Angels ❤
I remember being stuck in a traffic jam dead still on the freeway on the school bus with my high school concert choir on our way to compete at all state and one kid had a boom box so we turned on the radio and this song started playing and we all started singing it. Everyone knew the song by heart because it had been on the radio so much the previous couple of weeks. Well, most of us did, and those who didn't knew the chorus by heart. It's a cool memory. We went through several other songs before we started moving and the bus driver made us turn it back off.
The members of Europe were younger than 20 when they broke thru , and the singer Joey Tempest is an awesome songwriter with many Hits on his CV.. "Open your Heart" is , in my opinion, one of his best .. His voice is great in that one too ..as always..
Power Ballets! All the big 80s rock bands had at least one of them. Many had a few. Europe had several hits. You've reacted to their biggest chart toppers. But there's still several worth checking out. Others have given those I remembered, and a couple bangers I'd forgotten about 😊
This and the song Cherokee are my two favorite songs by europe! Listening to it as a kid and then listening to the song Cherokee now.... Does some serious points to be made in that song
Wow, so many memories come flooding back when i hear this, This band was in my top ten when i was in high school in the 80s. ROCK THE NIGHT is the next one. You will like it. Oh and superstitious.
Oh the memories this song conjures up!! Late 80s my bestie was Carrie and we saw these guys open for Def Leppard with Cinderella at Red Rocks, an unforgettable night and of Course every time we heard this song it got cranked lol….just in time for Halloween, she was my first roommate after leaving home, and we had a Poltergeist 👻💕💫🎃 we went thru some crazy stuff together…shout out to Carrie and thx for the memories BP ✌🖤🤘🏼
Carrie was a hit, here's some other Europe songs, Seven Door Hotel; War of Kings; New Love in Town; I’ll Cry for You; Prisoners in Paradise; Superstitious; Open Your Heart; a lot of people know Rock the Night and also Cherokee must listen songs.
Mah DOOD! It reminds us ALL of our first love at this point. ...even back then it sort of did, as teenagers. And that was kinda the point of the song's existence, if not the lyrics. They were trying to evoke those exact emotions!
I was in the 7th grade, had a little girlfriend named Carrie when my family moved to another state. I remember this song coming on the radio on our way out of town.😢
Lmao!! This is why you're among my favorite reactors!! Always keep it 💯!! Europe do have a bunch of bangers you should check out!! Rock the Night, Cherokee, 7 Doors Hotel, Superstitious, and more!!
My hair looked like theirs for a couple of years… 1988-90. I had long straight blonde hair… it took a spiral perm so well. Oh those were the days. My tresses rocked😂❤
The word to describe the band is......range. They have range if they can sing the Final Countdown and Carrie-too extremely different songs in just about every way.
Another reaction that slipped thru the cracks! Lol I've said this before, but u have to check out Firehouse!! Love of a lifetime & When I look into your eyes are a must listen!! 🙌
As Joey starts to sing, he portraying like he’s standing in front of Carrie which is why I think he had his hands in his pockets like most guys would. As the song got more intense so did Joey’s movements. So cute! Love this song.🤟
You might of noticed John norum lead guitarist was replaced by kee Marcelo as he went through mental health issues and was on my sister's ward where she worked... John norum did recover though and rejoined the band.
Oh, pure nostalgia for me with this song. It stirred me deeply when I was 15ish and it stirs me now. I've never really understood the meaning of the lyrics, but there's just something about the way he says Kaaaaaarrii.
Def not a one hit wonder. Yes, final countdown was their biggest hit, but songs like Cherokee, superstitious, rock the night, let the good times rock, open your heart, etc are all very good. Pretty much both of their primary albums are great.
"Is this a one hit wonder?" What kind of question is that?!?!?!?? Biggest hit was "Final Countdown", and it was a multimedia extravaganza despite being a live-performance staged performance. And I Swear to the Holy Spaghetti Monster, May His Noodly Goodness Ever Bless Us... The lead singer, when he FIRST starts singing... Looks EXACTLY like a woman!
Mother's Finest - Baby Love !!!! Talking Heads - Once in a Lifetime !!!! The Clash - The Guns of Brixton !!!! Ted Nugent - Writing on the Wall !!!! The Knife - Silent Shout !!!! The Vibrators - Keep it Clean !!!! Babylon Zoo - Spaceman !!!! Ace of Base - All that She Wants !!!! Brother Dege - Too Old to Die Young !!!! Eddy Grant - Living on the Frontline !!!! Praying Mantis - Dream On !!!! The Kinks - (Wish I Could Fly Like) Superman !!!! Kingdom Come - Mad Queen !!!! Climax Blues Band - Couldn't Get It Right !!!! Molly Hatchet - Fall of the Peacemaker !!!! Ana Johnson - We Are !!!! Blackfoot - Fox Chase !!!! Steelheart - We All Die Young !!!! The Bevis Frond - Superseded (from the WDR Rockpalast 2004 gig) !!!! Point Blank - Uncle Ned !!!! Mahogany Rush - Requiem for a Sinner !!!! Bob Marley & The Wailers - Natural Mystic !!!! The Mission - Tower of Strength !!!!
Carrie reminds me of Great White’s Angel Song. They are overlooked because they had one cheesy tune (Once Bitten Twice Shy) but the rest of their stuff is…great. Like House of Broken Love, Save your love, and Rock me.
These bands in the 80’s, the lead singers were 19-25yrs old. Good looking, high voices, perfect rock hair, rippin guitars and of course a rock ballad. The record companies made all bands have at least one on the album. Once 84/85 came around music co’s made them release the ballad first which then ruined the group and album because it became too cheesy. But as a teen those ballads worked great with the ladies 😂. Ah the good old days. 💯🇺🇸👊🏻
Yes man my first rock album final countdown some great track's on this. Their older tracks good aswell seven doors hotel and stormwind...they had four hits off this album.. countdown, rock the night, Carrie and Cherokee.. their later stuff is heavier like their early stuff... this album was their most commercial.
They were much more than this song or TFC, especially live. Another band that suffered from the 1 "big hit wonder" syndrome were Golden Earring, who were one of the greatest bands ever in my opinion.
You will love “Rock The Night” from them. This album was huge. The next “Superstitious” was great but not as big commercially. They reformed in the mid 2000s IMO have been putting out their best music since. But they are only big in…Europe.😂
Artists you still need to check out: ELO - Mr. Blue Sky Alan Parsons Project - Time Pentatonix - Mary, Did You Know for KING + COUNTRY - God Only Knows (original) If you ever want to do an instrumental: Eumir Deodato - (Maurice Ravel's) Pavane for a Dead Princess
"Carrie" was a huge hit all over the world.
The lead singer was 23 when this song was released.
Love their song, Cherokee
marching on the trail of tears!
Yes, great song
Yes, great song to remember the Cherokee's "Trail of Tears"
❤❤ I always hated my name...Then Europe came out with this song. Made me so happy!!! Lol 😅
Great song of course.
You should check out Slaughter....Fly to the Angels ❤
Me too 🥰
But there is the old Hollies song called “Carrie Anne” which is my first and middle names ♥️
"Carrie" was their highest charting hit in the USA. It went to #3. "The Final Countdown" also made the top 10.
Europe - Rock the Night - Superstitious
Yes
Superstitious has a perfect guitar solo. Love it!!!
@@andreadeamon6419Damn straight INDIANS. EIGHTYS WAS THE BEST IN FT.LAUDERDALE WHOLE TIME. WILD .
Rock the night is my favorite song to do at karaoke

This was my 1st concert. They opened for Def Leppard on the Hysteria tour. I was 12. And my names Carie. Awesome memories ❤️
80's rabbit hole White Lion "Wait"
Yes!!
The members of Europe were younger than 20 when they broke thru , and the singer Joey Tempest is an awesome songwriter with many Hits on his CV.. "Open your Heart" is , in my opinion, one of his best .. His voice is great in that one too ..as always..
This song was HUGE! I had my first slow dance to this song. ❤ Joey Tempest is a hot muffin.
Fun fact: Tears For Fears were considered rock.
Not my first but some of my best lol.
I can see this…thanks for the memories.
Joey Tempest still makes this ole lady swoon a little bit, lol😊
Fun fact right back at you - they were part of the U.K. New Wave music scene in 80's and were firmly in the pop placement. Sorry, I was there.
@@AmethystDewSo was I ❤
OMG magnifique chanson la voix et le solo guitariste électrique wow excellent merci à vous BP 👍👏🙏💖😱
Power Ballets!
All the big 80s rock bands had at least one of them. Many had a few.
Europe had several hits. You've reacted to their biggest chart toppers. But there's still several worth checking out.

Power ballads 😉
This and the song Cherokee are my two favorite songs by europe! Listening to it as a kid and then listening to the song Cherokee now.... Does some serious points to be made in that song
Rock the Night is a very addictive tune by Europe.
The Black Crows-She Talks to Angels👍🏼💛
Yes!
Yes!
Yes!!!!!
Wow, so many memories come flooding back when i hear this, This band was in my top ten when i was in high school in the 80s. ROCK THE NIGHT is the next one. You will like it. Oh and superstitious.
Another good one *Europe - Open Your Heart (Official Video)* you are right he was 24 here. Love Joey Tempest voice.
I adore this song. The cadence and flow plus Joey's INSANE vocals make for perfect ballad.
Carrie was Big Big Big Song. 💯👍
This song reminds me of a certain lady who burned down her high school in a fit of revenge. There were only a few survivors. Brutal!
I agree, so brutal! 😆
Lol lol lol. Well she was being bullied.
This is huge song and the have more ☮️
Oh my Joey Joey Joey! ❤❤❤
This was a HUGE hit
Oh my! Memories! Now you need to try "Superstitious" which has one of the most insane guitar solos ever.
Joey…such a good vocalist. Final Countdown is another good one. Europe has done very well over the years.
You need to watch Cherokee. That's a badass song!!!
Yes
This was huge.. alot of the songs on this album were huge!! I was in high school then!!
The band's name is Europe because the band is from Sweden. That's one reason.
Check their song Cherokee. Cool music video!
Yes and listen to that song now as an adult and actually paying attention to the words....
What a beautiful, classic, Piece of Art by Europe. Timeless!
Good song my friend trie Cherokee from Europe is a good 1 👍
“Open your heart “another great ballad by Joey Tempest
Next time: Open your heart - Europe
Europe is one of my favorite '80s rock bands, and I especially love their songs "Rock the Night" and "Cherokee."
La canción más mágica de Europe!!❤❤
Mah DOOD! It reminds us ALL of our first love at this point.
...even back then it sort of did, as teenagers.
And that was kinda the point of the song's existence, if not the lyrics. They were trying to evoke those exact emotions!
Superstitious is another great song by Europe
Best guitar solo ever. And I don't even like solos in general.
That's my favorite one.
I was in the 7th grade, had a little girlfriend named Carrie when my family moved to another state. I remember this song coming on the radio on our way out of town.😢
Europe and Carrie. Nice pairing.
Huge hit!!! One of the best power ballads.
A a Cherokee and blackfoot Indian - add Cherokee to your list. It's my favorite
Yes I agree
Definitely
Lmao!! This is why you're among my favorite reactors!! Always keep it 💯!!
Europe do have a bunch of bangers you should check out!!
Rock the Night, Cherokee, 7 Doors Hotel, Superstitious, and more!!
My all time fav song
My hair looked like theirs for a couple of years… 1988-90. I had long straight blonde hair… it took a spiral perm so well. Oh those were the days. My tresses rocked😂❤
He was about 23-24 in 86 when this was released. This was their biggest hit they had about 3 more song charted fairly well
I bought this album with Heart and Debbie Gibson, my first albums. Check out Europe Cherokee
I forgot that this song existed. Oh 80's rock.
In the video the guitar player is Kee Marcello but was recorded by John Norum
👍👍👍👏👏👏
The word to describe the band is......range. They have range if they can sing the Final Countdown and Carrie-too extremely different songs in just about every way.
Boston: more than a feeling !! Best guitar riff ever!!
Great song brother!
Another reaction that slipped thru the cracks! Lol I've said this before, but u have to check out Firehouse!! Love of a lifetime & When I look into your eyes are a must listen!! 🙌
Love of a Lifetime is insanely good!
Check out Cherokee also off of the Final Countdown album
Love of a life time. by fire house .this song is granted dude.😊😊😊..
Another great reaction
As Joey starts to sing, he portraying like he’s standing in front of Carrie which is why I think he had his hands in his pockets like most guys would. As the song got more intense so did Joey’s movements. So cute! Love this song.🤟
Thanks for the review Pegasus requesting highly suspect I cant breath
Europe is still touring
Ahh yes, the tradition of normally-loud bands making ballads to women's names. Boston's "Amanda", the Rolling Stones' "'Angie", Kiss' "Beth"...
I always heard it as a break up song, him doing it as gently as he can.
Europe - ''Let the Good Times Rock''. John Norum will melt your face on this one
Watch Europe’s “Last Look at Eden”, that is the expression overload! That song is hot and loud 🔥
Def not a one hit wonder. Yes, final countdown was their biggest hit, but songs like Cherokee, superstitious, rock the night, let the good times rock, open your heart, etc are all very good. Pretty much both of their primary albums are great.
I liked them!😊
Definitely not one hit wonder. Europe was huge in Europe back in the 80’s . We were huge fans and they won so many awards.
He was asking if Final Countdown was their 1 hit
Too Freaking Funny "Carrie"
Wow, I have never heard this one before, I’ve never run into that and I’ve listened to so many of these reactions.
Swedish band, even though they changed their names to sound more internatioal, haha. Proud to be swedish though.

They're still going strong
Carrie reminds me of Great White’s Angel Song. They are overlooked because they had one cheesy tune (Once Bitten Twice Shy) but the rest of their stuff is…great. Like House of Broken Love, Save your love, and Rock me.
Check out their song Cherokee
I second this
you should compare the old Europe sound to the new stuff ---like 40 years later ... Walk the Earth is a great choice , do it
John Norum is a quite good singer to with some good tracks, he is the guitar player in Europe.
If you like these guys you'd also like Nightranger and Firehouse (rip CJ Snare)
He was 23 around the time the album was released
The way you feel about Carrie, that’s the way I feel about Barry Manilow’s “Mandy” or even Boston’s “Amanda”, so many memories 😑
Gotta love a power ballad
These bands in the 80’s, the lead singers were 19-25yrs old. Good looking, high voices, perfect rock hair, rippin guitars and of course a rock ballad. Not true about releasing ballads first. It was 1 or 2 heavy songs first then ballad.
lol I haven’t finished watching this video yet, but I literally laughed out loud at 4:47 “Nope, we won’t meet again, Carrie!” 😂 🤦♂️
Then at 9:15 "Oh snap, my Carrie didn't look like that" 😂
@@raine4800 yeah 🤣
You need to hear "scream of anger" by them...
"Stormwind" i always like their older stuff better.
I feel the same way about songs with Mary in the title.
Yes man my first rock album final countdown some great track's on this. Their older tracks good aswell seven doors hotel and stormwind...they had four hits off this album.. countdown, rock the night, Carrie and Cherokee.. their later stuff is heavier like their early stuff... this album was their most commercial.

yeah, BP...hands in the pockets is a BAAAAD look
and, yeah...even tho Hair Metal got crapped on at the end...and rightly so...they had some of the most amazing singers and musicians...fer real
This is Peggy I met Kris claico yesterday and told him I started listening to him through you I enjoy you both
There was so many Huge Groups around the World, and the US didn't know all of them for some reason?
Your next song from Europe it's got to be Cherokee
Europe is definitely awesome, you should absolutely do more!!❤❤
Artists you still need to check out:
ELO - Mr. Blue Sky
Alan Parsons Project - Time
Pentatonix - Mary, Did You Know
for KING + COUNTRY - God Only Knows (original)
If you ever want to do an instrumental:
Eumir Deodato - (Maurice Ravel's) Pavane for a Dead Princess

I loved this entire album but I’m pretty sure it didn’t go further than that after I discovered Rush lol
