This is such an iconic song! They are from Sweden. This is always their last song of a show. Europe was my first concert as a teen and it was my first concert after a really bad relationship on my way to find myself again. Therefore they'll always be special to me. Personally I like their first two albums after they reunited with guitarist John Norum the most. I know you won't react to them, because you won't get enough views. But if anyone wants to check them out for themselves: Start from the Dark and Secret Society Edit: their drummer is bald now, too 😅
You are awesome *Krizz Kaliko* love your reactions and thoughts on music. Joey Tempest (vocals) was only 23 here, he wrote this riff on a keyboard that he borrowed from his buddy in school, he said he was only 16/17 years old when he wrote it and didn't think anything of it, not alone that it would be a hit worldwide till today. He did say that while making these videos in that era, they told him the bigger the hair the better, it was the 80's ☺and metal hair bands. Joey Tempest is happily married living in the UK with his wife and sons. I miss the good old days, it was so fun. ☺👍❤❤❤❤❤💯Love from Canada 🍁
No its not every rock band. The bands were required to being something to the table. They were to add some potato salad, a pie, some greens or green bean casserole. Someone brought the turkey, someone else the ham. The darn table was always full. We in the 70s and especially the 80s had one heck of a great time. We loved our music.
I lived the 80’s… meaning I am old now! Ha but man I remember Luke yesterday! I had the time of my life! 4 kids later and same husband since 1990!!! Life has been good!!!!❤️Tennessee
These dudes are from Sweden and the Swedes are all business, no games when it comes to music! The first 2 albums before this go HARD, especially the song "Scream of Anger" off the second LP If you want a banger, "Combination" by Aerosmith!
As a midwestern girl who’s in her 50’s now, we absolutely didn’t care if a man had long hair and wore makeup back then. It in NO WAY made them less masculine and sexy, still doesn’t. This is totally a male hang up, not a woman’s…
We used to listen to this and eye of the tiger when we had baseball tournament's or games used to get us hyped😅 Check out April Wine...Roller extended version 🙏 Great reaction and Peace out 🙏 ☮️ ✌️BTW you're absolutely correct all my boyfriend's had long gorgeous hair 😂
Another rockin song that i don't know if you've heard it's "turn up the radio" from autograph. My son called me immediately and asked who sang it so he could download it years ago. Then he heard this one from Europe and called me also. This momma is so proud 🎶
Morning from Finland. How is it going Krizz Kaliko? I remember that in the late 80's early 90's this played so much in my tape player(walkman). And that I rehearsed this synthetic part on my friends Yamaha Synth. It was a fire song. And many early 90's metal/rock song were like that. But just think how good of an vocalists this guy was. And songs used to have great lyrics. In mid to late 90's labels seemed to just want hit songs out fast as possible, and without any great lyrics. Even today there are many bands that don't send any message, uplifting song's. Or even heartfelt song's. Nowadays it's almost like they picked lyrics from a hat and put together.
In 1987, when I got back from Germany, I was living in Colorado, and I discovered that you could rent records from the library. THIS was the record I chose. 👵
BTW I just subscribed to your channel. And listened one of your and Tech N9ne's song. Spaz. It was a good one. You need to come in Finland,or Sweden to perform brother. Here we treat real rappers well. I once saw Cypress Hill many yrs ago closing the metal festival in middle of Finland. Can't remember what that festival was called, but it was either 1999 or 2001-02. They said to some journalist that Europeans know who is the real rapper and treat them as such too. Non of that mumble s*it works here so well. P.S if you do come down(or in Finland's case up here) bring Black Pegasus too.
You are 100% correct on the 80s rock bands and the hair and even make up. Many ladies back in the day would be jealous on how pretty many of the rock bands were back then. Especially the hair. But there was no confusion of identity crisis, as we have today. Keep up the great work!!!
I read the most astonishing thing about this song: That Joey Tempest (stage name), the singer, wrote this song when he was moterfluffing _16_ years old. That is just unbelievable. This absolute anthem of a song, worldwide! Just imagine the royalties this must have brought in over the years - and still going! Not even in high school yest, and he writes the song that will make them all (at least him) rich, settled for life.
I love this song! All the Hairbands of the early to mid 80's looked like they could be either or when it came to their looks. They work makeup too. But that music was badass. I was watching a video about the election and this song came to mind yesterday. This is how America will feel on night of November 5th,2024.. ❤🇺🇸❤🙏🕯🙏
Yo bud another great reaction. Really enjoying your channel my friend. You should really check out the 220 musicians doin Final Countdown from Moscow. Freakin awesome.
One of the ultimate AMP YOU UP songs!!! Up there with Survivor’s “Eye Of The Tiger” 🔥Krizz, the famous guys back then did have the girl hair and makeup, but that didn’t make them look feminine at the time; looking at it now, it does look feminine. But let me tell you; they were MEN, and we ladies managed to wear clothes, did hair and makeup that was on point, so we definitely looked more feminine than them, yet much more REAL and NATURAL than the Kardashian wanna bees now
yeah, the rock stars had big hair akin to the rocker chicks that followed them. But those gents were more masculine than today's generation of boys, and the women loved them for it.
I don't know if there is a better riff or not. I'm Gen X so I was listening to this in school so it brings back a lot of memories ❤. I can tell you that Eye Of The Tiger by Survivor gives me a similar feeling. Love those Rocky movies ❤
Two great riffs by Canadian Bands. Dance Desire by Haywire & Doesn't Really Matter by Platnium Blond. Two more the popped into my head are Rock You by Helix & Run Runaway by Great Big Sea. Finally.. Challenge you to not move along with 1 2 3 4. By Alan Doyle ft Ed Robinson. Think you'd find it fun. Totally different vibe from your standard fare. Hugs from Newfoundland
Such a great song! The song definitely gets you pumped up. Yea, the guys were deliberate in looking like chics in those early hair metal days but man did they get laid. They are Swedish.
This is a good song used to be one of my top hits at one point in time till it was overplayed a lot they also got a nice slow one called Carrie and then one that I kind of resonate with called Cherokee which you should listen to those two song
I hate the end in this version, because the original song ended nice and beautiful. This is like someone only cut it and put in a desturbin end, problebly to make it shorter for MTV or something.
Bands from overseas tended to look a bit more feminine & I’m not sure if it was just a different fashion sense or a slightly different bone structure. I remember thinking it more than once at the time & you’re right, the men did not lack for female attention. I would stand against the stage for any band that came to my little town just because I loved live music but I was always surrounded by girls with different motives (along with men who looked just like the bands trying to pick up the girls lol). 😂🎉
The 80ies were very gender-bendy and we loved it. Even my mom, who's 83, was madly in love with Boy George AND Annie Lennox at the same time. She loved the freedom of those years.
If you wanna hear one of the best gutar solos of all time please react to the band Chicago 25 or 26 to 4 live at tanglewood 1970 terry kath has one of the greatest gutar solos of all time in the live version the live version is better than the studio version and can’t always say that but please check it out thank you
The only commercial album they did some good songs some bad ... still was my gateway band into rock then metal their early stuff and more recent stuff is actually fire.... Swedish.. Joey tempest is married to an English girl and lives in London.. John norum lead guitarist was fire he left to recover from a mental health after this album was then replaced by kee Marcelo but returned to the band after a few years..I think they are still rocking I listened to some of their later stuff recently but I can't be sure.
The effeminate look is the basis behind Aerosmith's song "Dude Looks Like a Lady" which they wrote when they mistook Motley Crue's Vince Neil for a woman in a bar. On a second note, my buddy who plays in a metal tribute band does in fact change the "Venus" line to what you thought.
Not really epic IMO, more like Spectacle Rock. Hair, lights, cetra. Heard this a lot on the radio but I don't remember anything else from them. When you name your band Europe it sets the bar pretty high. They were Swedish I believe. Those folks can't really do American rock and definitely not blues. But yes, excellent 80's wrestling music
Voted THE WORST SONG OF THE 80'S!!! You hear this at sporting events and did you know, the copyright cost to play this song 1 time is..........$50,000!!!!! That is per play!!! It's insane. They live like Kings on the royalties of this one song. lol
thank you for leaving "gangster" off the title. Now please please please show your face during the intro, even if it is just a small box in the corner. Otherwise there is no reaction to see...
This is NOT "a classic." This is junk. This was what your ten year old sister or brother was pretending not to listen to, in 1986; while you were listening to: Metallica or Maiden or, even, Def Leppard and banging your head! This brand of "Europe" was: Generally poppified, lame, garbage. I always assumed that it was based-on some inspiration from the sci-fi flick, from 1980, of the same title [The Final Countdown.-Worth seeing, if you haven't, by the way!!]; but, apparently, the song-writer says the primary inspiration was: David Bowie's [now, classic!] "Space Oddity". The ONLY Europe track from this time-period that I can tolerate (and, even, LIKE!) is: their lead single from the follow-up album to this. That song being: "Superstitious". That sh*t is "not di**less!" 🤘🤘
Always thought of the era and style of this video as Glam Rock. The rest of the world, especially Europe tends not to be so hung up on gender specific styles. The 1960's brought in the acceptance of relaxed gender styles. Particularly in performing arts and fashion.
Glam rock lived and died in the 1970s. (So you are VERY "off.") This was (and remains: trash. Poppified pseudo-/pop-"metal," (because it had big guitars and a fiery guitarist) designed by wannabe, half-assed, label moguls, in the hell.a. of that day (the tail-end of the 1980s).
Greetings from Canada 🇨🇦 They are a Swedish band from the 80s - love that hair genre!
Canadian here too. Nova Scotia Canada! Love the group love the song. Thanks for sharing. Born 77 grew up in the 80's.
This is such an iconic song! They are from Sweden. This is always their last song of a show.

Edit: their drummer is bald now, too 😅
Europe!!!! This song is 🔥 🔥! Yes the guys looked feminine but kept their masculinity. They were not whiny punks. Go 80s, the best time to be a kid.
Great reaction as always. Please react to "Renegade" by STYX.
Cherokee by them is a great song
Getting older myself, i used to have hair , now I'm sporting a cue ball look . In 86 I was 15

Yup married my childhood sweetheart. 80s rule forever.
Another fantastic song from them is called CHEROKEE. It's my favorite song by them.
That's one of my favorites from them, such a classic
These dudes are from Sweden and the Swedes are all business, no games when it comes to music! The first 2 albums before this go HARD, especially the song "Scream of Anger" off the second LP
If you want a banger, "Combination" by Aerosmith!
Eye of the tiger
7 tonedeaf here...

That pretty boy is a hell of a singer and song writer.
Another rockin song that i don't know if you've heard it's "turn up the radio" from autograph.
My son called me immediately and asked who sang it so he could download it years ago. Then he heard this one from Europe and called me also.

Thanks for the awesome tunes! 😊

In 1987, when I got back from Germany, I was living in Colorado, and I discovered that you could rent records from the library. THIS was the record I chose. 👵
Every time I hear Final countdown. It reminds me of my relly's wedding. This what the bride and groom came out too. Dopeness !!!
stomp stomp clap

"Carrie" is my favorite song of theirs!!

Yes this riff is from a classical song in an early century
I read the most astonishing thing about this song: That Joey Tempest (stage name), the singer, wrote this song when he was moterfluffing _16_ years old. That is just unbelievable. React to Alan parsons Sirius/eye in the sky live version thanks
yeah, the rock stars had big hair akin to the rocker chicks that followed them. But those gents were more masculine than today's generation of boys, and the women loved them for it.
'The stop picture' you done, is part of Stockholm, Sweden🇸🇪 (1986)
This song is simply what it says it is! It is about moving to other planets lol!
We (lovingly) called this genre "poodle rock" at the time, because of the hair.
They're from Upplands Väsby, a suburb north of Stockholm.
80's hair bands had lots of pretty boys like Europe!! 🎶🎼🎵🎸🎧🥁🔥🔥
Tyson should WALIK IN TO THAT AGAINST JAKE PAUL TOMORROW
I don't know if there is a better riff or not. I'm Gen X so I was listening to this in school so it brings back a lot of memories ❤.
I can tell you that Eye Of The Tiger by Survivor gives me a similar feeling. Love those Rocky movies ❤
wrestling fan here. "From Aberdeen Washington....'The American Dragon' BRYAN DANIELSON!!!!!!"
I used a beat with that sample years ago lol it's SUPER HYPE!

Hearing this I'm 13 years old again having a secret cruch on John Norum (the guitar player)
Sometimes I feel 185 years old.
Yo Krizz, I think a better Riff or at least close 2nd is by Blackstreet Boys - Don't Leave Me
We need a reaction to Steely Dan black cow! anyways this was awesome.
Bands from overseas tended to look a bit more feminine & I’m not sure if it was just a different fashion sense or a slightly different bone structure. Saludos desde Colombia bendiciones
Emerson, Lake and Powell/Palmer have some epic keyboard rifs, I know you’ve heard one or two.
Touch and Go, is a good one.
THIS IS UP THERE...And, also like Alan Parson's Project, 'Sirius.'
As far as a keyboard riff, in my opinion, pressure, by billy joel is at the top of list
Hence, "Hair Band"
The 80ies were very gender-bendy and we loved it. Even my mom, who's 83, was madly in love with Boy George AND Annie Lennox at the same time. She loved the freedom of those years.

How about the opening r iffs to Dont Fear the Reaper?
Europe are indeed from Europe :_) They are from Sweden, you see lots of Stockholms beauty in the video.. Skol!
Suggestion. Fools overture. Supertramp live. With black Pegasus.
Fun fact, 1 day on Venus is longer than 1 year on Venus.Look it up think about that
Heilung | LIFA - Krigsgaldr LIVE
You should look into Max Martin,
He is a Swedish songwriter/producer that have 26!!! (so far)
no 1 billboard singles. Only Paul McCartney have more.
Black Sabbath - Iron Man riff is more iconic IMO
Try to react to this song BACK TO LIFE by the British Band SOUL II SOUL
Are these guys from Europe?
They're from Sweden!! So yes from Europe.
(you remind me of the great Clarence Clemons)
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Funny, you talking about guys looking like girls in the 80s.... That is why Aerosmith has the song Dude Looks Like A Lady
The only commercial album they did some good songs some bad ... still was my gateway band into rock then metal their early stuff and more recent stuff is actually fire.... Swedish.. The best bands from Europe have heavy accents when they're talking. When they sing, it goes away. Come on man
😅
Pues te ves chulo, así pelón. 👍

Hair Hair Hair lol...
Sweden
Gotta react to Metallica

Yea, the chorus is it........everything else meh......Aqua Net PSA......the 80's. I'm actually surprised more people didn't catch fire smoking tbh.
