8gb ram is so 10 years ago and a 256gb drive is just having a laugh, especially when the OS takes up a good 20% of that. That said, the m2 chip itself is glorious. But stay away from the budget model because the rest of the specs are straight trash.
The OS doesn't take up that much space. He installed all his music creation stuff, he even mentioned it in the video! Also, unified memory of 8GB with arm native apps use way less memory and way smarter than the PC version of the same plugins or software. On PC you better have 16-32GB RAM for the SAME audio projects. Speaking from experience here. I would go for the 512GB SSD version, I already have couple of TB fast external SSDs, 16GB unified RAM is definitely not necessary, since it acts like 16-20GB of DIMM RAM.
@@zeus1117 what's 20% of 256gb mate? I'll give you a hint, 50gb, which is exactly what he said. Do you actually know what unified ram is? It pools the system storage for shared use between the cpu/gpu/other system components. This doesn't make it act like 'more' ram, it makes it faster. It also acts like LESS memory, since it's shared with the gpu rather than having discrete gpu memory. Anyway, you agree the hdd should be bigger, and you're wrong about the ram. Chrome/safari with a days browsing of tabs open is still going to suck a solid chunk of that into the depths of its memory hell. More memory is always better. Period. 8 may be sufficient for day to day stuff. It may even have been great for this demo. Most people aren't going to buy a dedicated mac mini for audio processing, they're going to want to do other things at the same time the longer background tasks are running. Since you can't upgrade it, because apple, get a unit with more base memory. I hate the fact my m1 laptop only has 8gb. It is wildly insufficient for any level of prosumer or professional use.
@@zeus1117 8GB RAM use way less? lolz ever heard memory swap??if you want destroy your SSD lifespan than go for 8GB RAM and dont complain why your mac mini died before it's expiry date
looking at it, i currently have quite a beefy pc which i use for gaming, emails, all the day to day kind of stuff etc, and would probably get the mac mini purely for music production bc windows sucks balls for production. Ofc i know its not as good but with the SSD you can buy an external off like amazon for cheap so I'm not overtly fussed about that, but the unified memory does worry me a little. This mac mini would literally be JUST for music production so would i particularly need a 16gb UM when its not going to be used for everyday activities?

I guess it has garage band but .. things seem so complicated... what is the make of the blue electric... I just ordered my first simi hollow today.. or yesterday ... I hope it goes well.. great reviews... Larry Carlton H7 ... mostly acoustic What are some interfaces you might recommend be look into.?
Scarlet solo 2i2 4th gen :) or Motu
the AVID Mbox connection is Thunderbolt ? Is low latency midi possible through USB 2 or 3.2?
Yes it is possible to have low latency true usb2
Look at the RME audio interfaces like the Babyface pro fs etc.
Rock solid drivers like the ones from RME are an important part for low latency recording without issues.
@@jezzbro are you running the Avid through the thunderbolt via usbc3( not 3.2x2,)?
@@mark-ze4en I am using an RME Babyface pro fs.
Not an Avid Mbox.
Low latency midi is no problem with the RME via usb 2
@@jezzbro Thanks! Iwas interested if any standard usb2 device would be sufficent with the thunderbolt connection. I see few, if any usb3.2x2 devices . Is it necessary to use a high end upgraded usb device like the RME. to get near zero latency. I am about to build a pc with TB4 AND usb3.2 but not sure what interface will be suiable. Unfortunately. Mo ey is somewhat of acosideration. My goal if efficient Orchestral sample use in composition.thanks again. Clarify if possible.
Fruity Pebble Vapes LMAOOOOOO
Cool thank upu
Ordered the cto 16 gb version today for Logic X Pro (and will try the 11 as well ofcourse). The extra 8 gig of ram isn’t a cheap option but in long term it worth I think.
hey bro can thunderbolt 4 works as thunderbolt 3? like I want to use my clarett focusrite, but I only have the adaptor of 3 to 2
Yes
throw some Izotope shiet on there, Transient Shaper
good vid :).you are correct, the base model needs to run allples own software ...... and it does :)........ 3 yrs ago i bought the last intel mini, also 8 and 256..... that box ran logic pro just fine........ today i ordered the m2 base model like yours...... w/ a new 60$ seagate 2 TERABYTE hard drive.... and the focusite scarlett 1820..... brand new 8ch studio rig's hardware for 1200 bucks.....i am pretty excited to catch onto the mac mini revolution !!!! ps: i seem to remember you from a guitar lesson 5 years ago :). cheers sir
I dont believe that you can use this if you work with sample librarys like Kontakt etc.
Is it quiet?
Super quiet
Lesson: spend your money once, even it’s more than you wanted to pay.
Wait... I'm taking mac mini advice from the guitar guy? When worlds collide.
Nice👍Love you from India
as a zoomer I will gladly accompany one of yall for some fruity pebble vapes
Dude, get to the point. smh
I see you are new to content creators. I get what you’re saying, but content creators aren’t paid just getting to the point
Whether he has something to say or not, the video has to be 10 minutes long. That’s how it works nowadays, sadly.
😂
You are a pride for the gay community! Thanks.
Running *one* midi instrument and seeing no latency is your way of checking its speed?? 🤣 Gimme back these 10 minutes of my life
20 instances?
@@leekpart I'm thinking about doing the exact same thing. . . .

Explain 3xplain explain.
Serial number
play guitar and forget about testing :)
Your base model energy is so obvious that you only managed to grow a base-model level of facial hair.
You can definitely edit videos on it
