  • In this lesson we will breakdown some of the incredible guitar playing of another Soul/R&B legend - "Wah Wah" Watson. His signature funky wah parts elevated the tunes of the soul/R&B/ and funk stars through the decades including Marvin Gaye, Barry White, Gladys Knight, and of course his epic playing on the Temptations's "Papa Was a Rolling Stone".
You will learn some of his most used wah rhythms, and even a very cool part he played on Herbie Hancock's "Hang up your hang ups". Get FREE TAB for this lesson by subscribing on the bottom of www.tastyguita...

Wow!! Awesome video to display my uncles talent!! Melvin Ragin is his name! From Car Wash, Let’s Get It On! One thing you got to understand is that he was one of the first session guitarist that could track all of the parts which meant in stead of having just one Wah part he would use 13 tracks or more doing different parts talking to each other. His Gibson L5 the got from Ray Parker Jr. Ray was his mentee at Motown! Seeing him doing this and listening to Maxwell first CD Urban Hang Suite, Unc laced the songs with his special sauce!!! Glad he is getting the recognition he deserves! Thank you for doing this video!!! Miss you Unc but I hear you and your influence everyday!

Oh man very cool! I was shocked to see no one had done a proper video on him, he should definitely be getting more recognition, what a legend! Thanks for watching and please share :)

@@TastyGuitarcom Yeah Unc was very low key and often played down his abilities but he is definitely getting some love out here and rightfully so! His only job has ever been a studio musician! All of the way until the end! I’m still hearing new music from him constantly or tunes I did even know played on! Thanks for showing him some love!

Very impressive lesson. Some of it is above my pay grade, but nicely broken down. Thanks Rick.

    Some really good ideas.
I just basically rebuilt my Cry Baby. True bypass, led, vocal mod and just generally tightening up the solder joints. I can finally really play the thing. This lesson is well timed!

This was an excellent lesson. Immediately earned my subscription.
Which wha pedal are you using? It almost looks like a Fulltone Clyde, but not quite. Your tone is fantastic.

@@TastyGuitarcom $179 on Reverb. That’s not a bad price. I was looking at possibly upgrading to a Clyde Deluxe, but it’s at least $100 more…
      🤔
      I’m diggin it.

I would have included the Shaft lick even i it wasn't Wah Wah Watson's. Just too wah-conic. Gotta be in a wah wah lesson.
