What about, "Plan to succeed, don't plan to fail." Shouldn't you have all your ducks in a row before you launch a business so that you are prepared to handle the demand? Let's say you launch a website with 100 garment designs for sale in it and on day one you receive more order than you can possibly fill and you haven't the logistics supply chain established to produce, fill and ship your orders in a timely manner and you have already taken your customer's money? Isn't that a scenario where you just flew by the seat of your pants and failed miserably? How do you rebound d from that and recoup your losses now that your reputation has been damaged? How many successful businesses are launched without a clear and concise business plan, what wise venture capitalists would even Invest in such a travesty?
This is very powerful. Going to try and translate this to music.

As a stage performer, I wish someone had said this to me right when I started out. I was nervous as hell, just shaking all over, but if you had told me „be nervous, it’s a good thing“, I would have delivered a good performance, instead of tripping over myself trying to act as if it was no big deal.

That moment when you realize, what you say can affect those of the future and how you want them to know who you are and what's important. What I love most about these films, is the fact that, EACH person matters. Everyone have a story and when you sit down and chat, you learn something and perhaps become a bit closer to someone.

I couldn't agree more. I have always felt this way myself. Recoding these moments allows future generations to interpret our time in a way we can never truly appreciate in the here and now.

I do think that would be an excellent idea, Emmy, but I just don't have the time to do it. As a one-man band filmmaker/current video RUclips guy, I focus my energies on that and don't have enough time. I once had a real assistant-an assistant producer-and she did so many of those things. For that these days. What kind of filmmaking are you doing?

The most frightening part is not the beginning. It's a third to halfway through, where you know you have the set-up working, it's actually good, and then the whole goddamn thing collapses in mid-point sag. Plot threads lose their thematic coherence, characters seem to not be the same person you thought they'd become, and by the end you're wondering, how the fuck do I rewrite this so it's actually good? Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! (that's your head against the desk)

This is great, but what do you do if your subject becomes so nervous and self-conscious that he or she can't get a clean or coherent sentence out, and their responses are just garbled messes?
Actually, I have only had this happen once. All I did was ask this question “tell me about how it feels to be so nervous and tell me why you feel so nervous?”. Gregory. It got a 20 minute answer that included the person's personal history in a way that I could not have provoked have I asked the question directly. Fascinating.
