    South African rock and surf fishing is years ahead. I don't even think people here know what a dingle dangle is. Have been fishing assassin for years.

    Hi, yes that bionic finger(cannon in the US or casting trigger) makes casting a dream. Nice to see our South African products like the Assassin rods helps to enjoy your trip to the surf. Fyi, that sinker already has the "hook" to clip onto your hook for casting, if not realized by now.

    When it comes to fighting massives sharks anything up to 300kgs from the shore you need to put pressure on the fish. South African anglers have been the pioneers for over 50 years now. We invented the non return slide, dingle dangle and the weed eater grapnel sinker to name some of the innovations in Rock and Surf fishing. Only recently when better technology has improved grinders these rods were developed in South Africa, before we should use multiplier reels with braid backing to land massive sharks. The sardine run is the only time you just lob a bait near the shore break and hook a bronzie up to 200kg.

    I like a lot of the ideas that rod has, and I agree that fighting the fish is better with the reel way back, but that 2 handed casting technique is totally weird to me. I hold the rod at the reel with my right hand and my left goes on the butt if I want to cast farther. I'd like to try that trigger on my regular rods.

    when i use the bionic (on my Assasin championship#5) with Stella SW 14k, i notice after looping the line over the bionic when i come to flip the bail open, the line goes click over the rollers, surely constant casting at the same place will nick the line over time. i actually fiddle it and pull the line away from the roller manually before flipping bail open. is fiddly , but my OCD is satisfied there wont be any wear on the line at that point over many casts. not sure if i described that correctly, but next time you flip open the bail watch the line carefully as it comes of the roller and tightens up to the bionic. lovng my Assasin Championship #5 15' 4 to 6 oz

      In South Africa most of our anglers use a heavier braid leader of 80lb or more that is about 6 to 8m long, this is typically attached with an fg knot, the leader is thick enough not to wear and takes up the shock of the cast. The right length is your preferred drop with 2 or 3 wraps around the reel spool. Added bonus gives a stronger bottom tackle when fighting the fish and often allows you to go slightly lighter on the mainline allowing you to cast further

      the power of good cast comes out as such
      1- good pull/push power
      2- movements tech.
      3- proper rod flex@right load
      4- arc u draw taking in consideration wind directions
      those r the main weapons among many u should be aware of , unless u can't execute them right ur cast will always be limited, i cast pend.,otg, hatteras , overhead and some others too.,still i'm telling u this ,pulling power playiing a great part in any good cast n it calls pulling power , sorry if u can't get it right .

      I have been wanting to ask a brit about carp rods. We have surf rods in the US, because casting from the shore nets more fish when you get out further. If we want to catch invasive carp, all we need to do is look at the water and they leap out. Why do you guys need big rods and long casts for carp?

    I have a difficult time with spinners in that I hold too long, and snap off my weight or lure. I have experimented with mounting the bionic finger on top of the rod holding the line with my thumb instead of my index finger. It seems to help with timing, but line doesn't like the angle that it comes off the reel. HDo you guys know of anyone who has tried this method?

    ‘Not going anywhere’ then proceed with the lightest pull with bail arm closed. ‘Bionic finger’ then the index finger on the other hand holding the line. ‘Shorter handle’ but then clearly has sand on the reel from having shorter butt section making the reel stands closer to the sand. Looks cool but don’t believe it actually works.

    • @donczns
      @donczns Год назад +2

      Trust me it works, from 2 to 4oz all the way up to 6 or 8oz this setup helps most anglers push casts of around 100m and with practice 150m is attainable. On the surf fishing in Australia this would allow you to target the outer gutters and banks. In South Africa almost every modern rod has this setup

    • @bravestarr1797
      @bravestarr1797 Год назад +2

    These people talk to much and my custom made 14 foot Japanese surf-rod with large capacity reels will put you out wherever you want when your 6'4". BTW Stop Yakking and start casting and try a side arm approach, so we can see if you know what your talking about! Tell you cameraman to line up your cast so we can see were it landed and 3 cast we cannot see how far or where it landed. Duh use your brain!
