You know what is funny. The guys with the newest Landcruisers still wants this one. For some reason. They have got the bigger engines and newest mods. And still they can't stop looking at this one. I also have a 90 Series. I think it is a good little car. Can do all the things the big guys can do.
Looking at buying a Prado 2001 manual with the v6 this week hopefully, and it has everything done that i want, 2nd owner its pretty clean, I’ve been going backwards and forward for a while at buying a 4x4 but was looking at the 80 series, then the hilux’s, Pajero’s but the more research ive done I believe this is the right vehicle for me, and this video was perfect timing, its helped me make my decision easier. Great looking Prado mate, you did a top job 👍
I love most things about our 90. They are good off road but a little tight inside. They still look good even though they are 20+ years old now. I do hate the clear coat lifting off ours because it is going to cause me a lot of work to re-paint but its other good features really outweigh the bad things.
Just one note, the auto is a 4 speed, with 4 as the overdrive. I loved mine! Crazy capable and comfortable. Just thirsty and the v6 cant really tow well
My 90 is the 1kz-te 3LTD. I love it. I wouldn't sell it. The diesel has a problem with the head cracking. The upper and lower ball joints. fix these problems, and you have a reliable 4wd
Looking at a 1996 Prado today that is diesel. I think the KZJ90? Same issue? I plan on adding a snorkel for greater airflow. However, is there a reliable kit for these head replacements or just OEM?
provide a list of mods (names/models) of shocks, springs, etc.. Also, can you address the lower ball joint issue - I hear about that a lot. Trying decide if the Prado 90 should be my next purchase….
Bro Im almost about to sell my Rj70 bundera that I love cause Im waiting a baby with my girlfriend, and I could save some money just buying a really good shape prado (bunderas are expensive and vzj95 are relatively cheap), but I really dont know. My dad has one, and I learned how to drive on it, it is better in almost every aspect, but I am afraid to miss just the classic conection with my 70 series when I go full modern with the prado :(. Please peace my mind HAHA
I'm on LPG for main tank. It works out to be the same. If gas was cheaper sure. But for average 90c - $1 it's the same. I run on petrol on my sub tank daily. Just more efficient personally

Most toyotas from this era have the cracking head problem it happens when they overheat so keep an eye on the temp gauge and you shal be sweet

I've replaced the head timing belt water pump. I also just put a 2-inch lift and 33s on, with the bigger tyres. It's a bit leggy now.
what i like about my prado 90, twin locked. changes the whole ride.
Great review. Thanks.

Fitting Toyota LBJ is the solution, and then having them checked every service and replacing them as soon as there is play
Your next mod should be gas bonnet struts
isn't it 3.4 litre not 2.4, think you confused the number of valves?
Huge improvement on the intro and fast talking xD!
another banger upload.
Just about to get one just want lockers has 2inch lift and all the fruit hope its worth it swapping it for my KTM 525 Super Moto

Check my yt video on it
Can u turbo and tune these engines?
Yes there are trd supercharge upgrades you can do
Do you recommend converting it to LPG? Or just run in fuel alone.

@@PapadumGeek so you're saying that $1 LPG vs $1.70 petrol it still works out the same?
@@Ondraythe1yeah you'll go through gas quicker than regular petrol
@@coast2coast950 but it should only be 20% less efficient than petrol, the math doesn't as up
