You are literally the reason why I purchased mine. Over the years I watched you use this tool so much on a variety of projects. In fact, that was one of the first tools I purchased before I got in renovating homes. This tool needed a dedicated video for sure.
I’m a beekeeper. We’ve used the “ hive tool” for over 60 years. It’s used many ways, separating and lifting frames inside the hive , scraping off propolis, etc. I also use it for home repairs.
Just picked one up today! Every time I see one I think of your videos. Gonna put it to work changing out an exterior door
Shannon, this is so simple, honest and not-fancy that it has to be 100% true! I have one too! Good video!
I'm giving my nieces and nephews one simple hand tool per birthday and Christmas every year to build out a household tool box for each of them. I will add this pry tool to the list. Thank you for the idea. 👍🏼I also grind their initials on each tool.
Sounds great!
For sure a handy little tool! Works much bigger than it is.
I have the 9". Couldn't agree more - it's remarkable how useful they are.
He’s right. If you’re in any trade these are extremely useful. My all time favorite pry bar tools however are the indexing head ones. I have every size.
I have probably 6 of these.
I call it the “wizard bar” because of its versatility.
1000% agree! Not a boring video at all... It's the first thing I load in my tool belt, and last thing I put away. I've never seen the red one though, mine is black, and so are all the other ones I've seen around here.
I've had one since the 80s and use and abuse it and haven't damaged it yet...they are a great universal tool. I haven't seen them here in the lower 48 or I just haven't been looking for them do to having my old one that is working just fine for the amount of construction work I do.
I used mine quite often when removing my Dormer, but my favorite tool now is my "Impact Driver".
I've owned one for years as a full time handyman. I epoxied a NeoD magnet in the middle. Meaning, that I can also use it as a "cat's claw" to reach, find, and clean up, dropped metal fasteners, screws, nuts, etc. Also sharpen one side so it is more like a HD knife blade edge. The other side has inch markings for fast measurements. Almost every one of my tools has been improved/modified in some way. I never settle for how tools come from the store.
I have lots of pry bars and that one is my favorite tool too!! Its great for scraping paint :)
I have at least 3 or 4 of those myself. The are such a handy university tool to have
I have been using those for years , for many the same reasons . Mine though are always razor sharp . Pulling exterior trim for example, being so sharp , I can cut the caulking or paint , then slip the bar right in with little to no damage. Then switch to bigger pry if needed . They are a very very handy tool. Even found a mini one the other day, or as handy but has its place. 👍
I've used mine as a door stop. I've recovered miles of hardwood flooring with it. I may still have all my finger tips because of it. It's the first tool in when I'm prying up something heavy to get that first bite. I've even used a 3 inch one. You don't know you need it until you do.
They are great for when you are install a hung door for upside down as a wedge it holds door in place and level while you secure the frame.
Love that bar. I have Richard longer and shorter bar. Call it my WONDER BAR. I have a couple nicks out of mine for sometimes I use it as a backing when I am using my zip saw to protect a surface near where I am grinding.
I agree 100% Great little tool.... I use mine a lot
I've been carrying one for over30 years!
Another great video... I have 4 of those.. Use them all the time...
I haven't been doing home improvement long, but I love my 5-in-1 tool. I don't have one of those bars you show yet.
Red bar for the win for SURE!
First tool my journeyman told me to get when I was a first-year apprentice, and they're great. You can find them in the paint section of most hardware stores.
We use them in our bee hives and they are our favorite too!!!
Have a few of those myself. It’s one of those tools you never think you’re going to need, until you do! They’re definitely good to have around. Thanks for the vid! 👍👍
Totally!
They work great at scraping the grass off the bottom of a lawn mower deck too.
I bought mine thanks to you as well. And when my carpenter comes around for different things, he always has his. But when his employee was off with his last month and we needed it, I had it ready :D Kapow! It's right by my oven where my essential tools are. Works for all sorts of tasks even if you aren't doing renos or big projects. Even opening really glued on boxes will be worth buying for!
My painters tool tends to be my jack of all projects tool. I forgot I even have one of these pry bars but will remember to try using it too. Thx!
I have 'a very particular set of skills'. This tool allows me to accomplish them.
I couldn't agree more! I have a couple and it's the most useful tool ever invented.
It sure is!
I work in contaminated soil clean up and thse would be great for removing paving. I use similair tool very often for ton of random things.
Thank-You! I will get one.
100% right. One of the most useful tools in my bag. Whenever i leave it in the van you can bet thats when i need to bloody thing lol.
Thanks for the tip!
SS always, Sr, great advice I found here. Thanks, blessings
I really love this tool. I mainly use the larger version and it’s been a workhorse of a tool.
Shannon, Thank you sir. You have taught me so much and I am just getting started. I hope you have a great christmas if you celebrate and Happy New Year to you and your loved ones. Thank you much appreciated everyone of these videos.
Angle grinder is my favorite. It's just so powerful and can solve so many problems. Usually when I feel stuck on a project, I remember I have an angle grinder and all is saved.
I have to agree a pry bar is pretty great too. I used one extensively while replacing baseboards. Easily the best tool for removing them. Then I had to scrape the glue that the previous guy used (ugh).
Pry bar wins because while angle grinder is a great way to save a failing project it is also a great way to make a failing project into a disaster.
Also big time saver for laminate floor installation at the start, the end and around corners and door frames. See it as a hand extension where the curved end replaces your fingers to snap clip the edges.
Valuable basic tool. Thnx
I do enjoy the small prybars and do have them available in my tool bag , but my favorite is a good 5 in 1 paint tool,
No idea what these things are but if Shannon says I need one, then I guess I’m off to HD in the morning to pick one up.
Will look for one of those. Currently my 1” putty knife is my universal carry 😄👍 Comes in handy for all sorts of things.
Thank you for sharing this
I bought mine from home depot in the U.S. they sell a blue one(dasco brand I believe) that you find by the hand tools, and a black one you will find in the painter's section. The blue one has a large bevel on the long end that can be frustrating unless you sand/grind it down to be sharper. The black one is nice and thin already. So, there are differences to look out for. Thanks for your videos Shannon!
I agree, have used mine a ton.
Good info, thank you.
Have a few as well, luv them
thanks, good tip
They are glazier bars, i use them for everything too
That little pry bar go's everywhere I go. The 5 in 1 used to be the tool and its still in myvpouch all tge time but the little pry bar wins
thank you
cant believe your videos dont thousands of likes and views....you sure have my attention Sir.
I appreciate that!
I'm on my way 2 get one thanks SHANNON FROM THE SOUTH TIP OF TEXAS SAN BENITO YR THE BOSS
Forget 'My pillow' . I need 'My Pry-bar ' !! Somehow I lost the one I had for decades, Thank you for reminder to replace it before I get pissed off again.
I like spinning them on my finger when I'm walking around
Thanks. 😊
You're welcome!
I don't own many tools as a rule but I do own one of these.
I bet you could REALLY remove popcorn texture from ceilings with those things!
You can but they are a little narrow.
yep I have one.
Free beer in the title would get my attention.
yup
i just bought one last week. ours are made by Hyde
I use it almost everyday
Hilarious. I like this one also.
I have two small blue ones.
I have a cheep knockoff I bought for some project a few years back. Maybe wanted to get under some siding nails without making too much of a mess of the tyvek.
Some of the knock offs are not as thin at the flat end as these Red Bars.
Favorite
Ahh , you are correct and the first to mention that mistake, Thanks
I’m getting one or some
My girlfriend would ask, "Why do you need so many? Can't you just use one at a time?"
but if you have only one it will never be where you need it! LOL
Good
Who ever makes them, Tom Richard or Harry!
...You keep one in a boat? Are Pike that much nastier north of the border? "This is my redbar. There are many like it but this one is mine."
Okay, I'm sold.
I keep it in the tool box, just never know what you may need it for .
Tell me you're Canadian, without saying your Canadian. 😄 🇨🇦,☕
what’s up eh?
👍💯👍
Menards sells a couple different models for 9-10$
👍👍👍👍👷♂️
