Heated bathroom floors are like microwave ovens and ice makers...Once you have it, you'll never want to be without it. The heated floor was a game changer when my son and I remodeled the master bath.
Great video as usual. Thank you!
This is a hot topic.
Ohh I see what you did there lol
Thanks so much for your install video on this system. I’m just about to do this myself. Overall your instructions were more thorough and clear than the manufacturer’s.
Unfortunately in my case I can’t use Ditra because I have small mosaic tiles, so I’ll run the wire in low profile clips on the plywood subfloor and then pour self leveler. It’s going to be an adventure for sure! Everyone I know who has heated floors says it’s their favorite gadget in their house. Looking forward to it.
Thanks for the update.
Thanks for the update
I have learned so much from you. Thank you.
Thanks
Great video sir !
Very nice!
I'm warming to this idea
Well I wish I'd done this when I renoed!
That's SO nice. I wish I had put that system in my bathroom. Just didn't even cross my mind at the time. It's very amazing how that thermal camera picks up the wire zig-zagging under the tile. You keep it good and toasty in there at 25C. Why not if it's just $20/year, that's well worth it, very efficient. Great right now in cold, cold January.
That is the temp. of the floor to the touch but that will not heat the room to that . I guess maybe it would be close if you closed the door all the time and the floor stayed on at that 25C constantly? It sure feels god on the feet in the morning though!
Nice. 👌
Very cool to see the thermal view! If I recall correctly, didn't you put in electrical for a heated towel rack, too? Or did that idea get scrapped?
No that was never discussed.
@@HouseImprovements Thanks, guess it was wishful thinking on my part!
Thanks. Do you mind telling me what thermal gadget you have?
Perfect Prime IRO281,amzn.to/3U0eoLj
Very nice! do you have wax ring for the commode base? Did you need to pay attention to the coil layout so that the wax ring does not melt?
Yes there are detailed instructions with the product letting you know how far to stay from toilets and other fixtures.
@@HouseImprovements Thanks!
hi Shannon!
is your slab insulated and/or thermally broken from your footer? (maybe this is an upstairs bath, so my thoughts don't apply to your bath, but...) the ground wicks away heat quickly, so i'd have concerns this may not be a great/affordable solution for those in a typical slab-on-grade home.
This is an above ground floor.
@@HouseImprovements...good to know, and makes sense! (as your frequent cycles could be difficult otherwise)
def appreciate all i've learned from you - it's helped with reno, and will help with my small PassivHaus-ish designs/builds in the near future. THANKS!
That is nice. $20.00 a year to heat the bathroom floor. Wish I could me whole house for that much a month
Hello. Is the bathroom in a basement with a concrete flòor?
No , but you could do that and I have for others.
Can this electric heated floor system be used with other types of flooring like LVP? Or is it specific to tile?
Yes ,that can be found in their handbook on page 17.images.thdstatic.com/catalog/pdfImages/1e/1ebbf0d7-d23a-436f-8e33-a575c1a55378.pdf
Thank you! Love the channel
surprised to see this video, not long ago you posted one saying that you had decided to hang up your online tool belt. Change your mind ? Back at it ?
That was an April fools joke, watch the entire video.ruclips.net/video/CO43lB_Olh0/видео.html
Oh, OK then, always enjoy your low key informative approach.@@HouseImprovements
That costs almost nothing to use. An electric spot heater like that is the way to go. I'd use that in the bathroom even if I had a whole house hydronic system.
16 cent per kWh? Which country is that? Here in Germany my all green electricity is EUR 62 cent per kWh
Canada.
Only 16 cents in Saskatchewan? Sure thats not the pre tax and without delivery amount? We pay about 20 cents on average in Ontario all in and I always thought "up north" the energy prices are higher
We got it cheap here in Quebec, at 6.5 cents, it’s the only good thing we have
Our cost in my area of southern Saskatchewan Kwh changes a bit year to year but it is currently .14859 per kwh. And it would be hard to factor in the delivery amount because that is constant each month while your KW/hr used varies so there is no clear conversion to usage fee to KW/hr. Currently my month delivery charge is 29.99 if I use any power or not. Carbon tax and GST could be factored in at about another 2cents so anyways I have my cost set at 16cents from my estimates cost 2 yrs ago.
Nice! That would cost $200/mo in Califörnia though.
No according to the average California costs of KW/hr (23.03cents /kw/hr ) in 2023 I just found on line and using the data I showed in the video it would have been $29.62 per year or $2.47 per month averaged. That is based on my usage and California has much milder winters than Saskatchewan .
In the thumbnail, you are hotter than the floor.
Well body temp is around 38 C and the floor was around 23C so .....yes .
@@HouseImprovements You are hot, regardless. Not a homo here BTW.
