I am glad you are still making content. You do good work.
And the O.G.
Tennis racket tape for wrapping tool handles, making them soft-grip.
Thanks for making me a better DIYr. Your simple explanations make it easy to understand. Appreciate your channel a lot!
Good to see your still here!
Duck tape often comes in handy when clients talk a lot, interrupt your work with a multitude of questions and concerns, or even offer you to use their tools. I use it to tape their mouth shut! Otherwise, I rarely use it and have fixed so many dryer duct vents held together with brittle duck tape before.
Love that subject! Never thought we'd need so many types until we moved to the countryside lol
In my experience with painter's tape, Frog tape can stay there ages (I mean years, I know I still have some up from 2019 and tested but it didn't rip anything last week) and not leave residue. Much cleaner line, just make sure to pass over it with a straight metal tool after application.
You barely get a few weeks with 3M and it peels off your paint even after the instructed waiting time. Oh and it will rip the varnish off wood as well unlike Frog tape. Totally worth the extra money! But 3M is great to bundle stuff together!
One super helpful tape in my house is No Residue 3M. Says it will stick stuff for 6 months without residue, but it lasts even longer. I use it on so many things and cables, it's great stuff and sticks well. Even works outside for a season before drying out but still will not leave residue.
For kickass holding power, we only use Siga brand, it's European and expensive but even the non-weatherproof version has held 2 folded feet from the bottom of our outdoor garage (temporary shelter plastic material) for 5 years now! Normal weather-proof American tapes couldn''t even do a season.
Not commonly used in diy stuff but still handy, drywall ‘tape’. Another great video. Always enjoy watching 👍
You are a prince in what you just shared with us. I appreciate YOU, Shannon. great.
Love that thumbnail photo!
Thank you for your videos, Shannon!
I'll feel less silly now going into Home Depot. Merci beaucoup!
You forgot Gaffers tape. Most people are not familiar with it but it has many good uses...
Here’s a few thoughts and tips:
-Tuck tape is the only tape that I’ve found to stick to 6 mil plastic. (Red)
- The last red tape you showed I believe is Tesa tape - same stuff they use to tape items on new appliances- good abrasion resistance.
- I’ve found the foil tape - especially the cold application type very helpful- amazing tack and won’t leave a residue if left in sun for a few days or more
• great for small tuck point jobs
• holding items in place while installing or while a glue is setting
• FYI: most painful “paper” cut - I’d rather hit my thumb with hammer on a cold day! 😖
have to be careful with tuck tape it will rip off fresh paint etc
Thanks for the information. I like the electrical tape bandaid idea.😎🙂😀
And here I was thinking Duct tape could be used for ANYTHING...including severed limbs!!! 😂😂😂
Great video!
Nice info Shannan. Plumbers Teflon tape too,
Good stuff! Keep it coming sir!
You got it!
I was at Home Depot yesterday and literally discovered red stucco tape, I had never heard/seen it before. What a coincidence you put out a new video talking about it.
Very informative. Thank you so much.
Fantastic information 😊
I'm still not over the April Fools Day joke. It was trauma.😅
Thanks again, sir!
Thanks Shannon, great info, 👍👍
Love this!
wonderul , thanks Shannon
I use body shop grade automotive masking tape for almost everything non-permanent. Unlike duct tape you can usually remove the tape with no glue left behind a year or more later, and it’s super sticky and strong.
Love your videos Shannon, you’re awesome 👏🏼
Very important information, a great video. Thanks
Great video
thanks
Nice 👍 thank you good info
Great video man but you forgot the most common tape of all time. The Masking tape 😂
👍👍👍Thank you
I had someone ask me for ducktape last weekend. I didn't have any but I have a roll of eternabond (rv roof tape). Worked better for what they wanted (pin hole in their inflatable raft).
"don't tape your ducks with this tape" 😆
great tape vid Shannon, there's so much different tapes around its sometimes confusing, question,i have bought (big) solar panels i like to fasten to a wall, but i'ml alone and the panels are somewhat heavy, can i build a rig with aluminium bars and pulleys to heave them in place
before fastening them to the rails? any suggestions on how to do this? cheers
Very informative and thanks. BTW, what do you recommend for stopping ones' SO talking too much?😉
Great. I learned recently that there's also brown painters tape that costs a lot less than the blue & green (when fit for purpose). I have the hardest time with plumbers tape, in case you have feed back there? I need to RUclips using it to get it right!
Excellent video sir. I think it will stick.
Do a video on sheetrock texter, and what kind of hooper gun is good..u do a good video.
I have one for ceilings , it's really the same. ruclips.net/video/xzOKWFLhqJI/видео.html
Hey I had a question and I can't seem to find any videos or info but I need to replace my windows they are wood and old and rotted I want to do metal ones is this possible ?
I bought a house and there was a hardwood floor already installed. It squeeks many places. The ceiling in the basement is not finish. Is there a way to fix that problem? Thanks for your help.
Random question, If I'm resurfacing my deck with new boards would putting that joist tape on be a good idea?
Longevity
Yes it would
👍👍👍
bro has been making videos for almost 13yr
I would like to add Gorilla tape. It is kind of like duck tape but to me it seems stronger.
8:14 The brand I'm familiar with for butyl tape you wouldn't be able to touch it and get your fingers away as easily as you did. The stuff Henry's makes, FortiFlash. That stuff is absolutely unforgiving. That's why people call it bitchathane.
What about cassette tapes? 😂
He's in Canada. We still see it on jobsites further south.
👍
Be kind to ducks.
Where is your hockey tape bro? Lol
LOL, that would have a been a good one, never thought of it.
I noticed with the blue painters tape you shouldn't buy the cheap brand EVER. That crap falls off your wall real fast. It's a nightmare. Also, I thought it was called duct tape and duck tape was just a brand. Interesting!
You're absolutely correct, it IS called duct tape, and "duck" is definitely a brand name of it - which (in my opinion) was a poor choice of name; it obviously leads to confusion. I'm actually surprised Shannon isn't aware of this. I agree though, that even though it's called duct tape, it should definitely not be used for ductwork. Not sure why they even decided to call it duct tape to begin with!
@@markarita3 My bad.
@@HouseImprovements we still love you lol ❤️
Cotton duck is a kind of canvas. This canvas was the tape's original backing (with a polymer coating over that to enhance waterproofing). That's the origin of the name. How it turned into "duct" is a part of the story I was never told. (I did marketing for an adhesives company.)
@@dickiegreenleaf750 Of course!
You missed the most important kind of tape while working on a project: 8-track.
Best tape for asbestos and mold abatement is the green teal tape abatix brand or inline
