My husband reminded me this morning that we started building our house 2 years ago. We moved in a little over a year ago. Yes it took a good year to build before we could move in. We built it with our own hands, every board and nail. The only worker we hired was the electrician. I give thanks to this channel and a couple of others for the advice, skills, and techniques they share. After moving in, we added 2 porches, and a guest room. We have a wonderful PAID FOR house now that we will enjoy for the rest of our lives.

I really like your laid-back teaching style but you TOTALLY lost me when you started talking about the window. for future reference, it would have really helped if you had an actual window in front of you so you could show us what/where a jamb is and how to measure it. as it is, I had to stop the video and open another tab so I could google window parts before I could continue this video.

VERY, VERY GOOD video. I have seen and built a few garages that the short studs were not used over the windows and doors but used 2 x 10's without problems but it probably all equals but also live in a far different area. Thanks again for the refresher. Bud

Thank you. I watched your video on decking and learned so much. My own decking project turned out more than ok as a result. Next big project is the shed, and this helps so much!
