Love seeing this. Here is a guy who knows what he is doing and confident in his skills. I wish more young people would go into trades. Truly makes the world a better place.
Me-wondering if the comment was negative or positive Me-watches video Me-Concludes it was most definitely positive because dude does, in fact, slay that window. 😎👍😁
Me too man. I installed porcelain and natural stone tiles for 6 years and completely fucked up my back and knees. I have huge respect for guys who can do this kind of work and dont have any health issues.
friendlywhiteguy stretching everyday, eating right and exercising regularly, and most importantly, proper lifting form can eliminate almost all of the physical long term issues related to the trades
Great work and excellent job of explaining the logic behind framing .. I was a framer 35 years ago and lifting walls hasn't gotten any easier i see ...
If they had a competition for framing ,like they do for block masonry ,I have a real good idea who would win that, hands down.👍great stuff, fun to watch.
New subscriber here, I feel like I hit the jackpot with your videos. Found your channel because I searched on "how to frame a window", and bam, here I am. I'm trying to learn as much as I can about construction, particularly framing so that I can make repairs on my mom's 70yr old house. Seeing the way you work is inspiring and damn impressive. Just wanted to say thanks for all the great content.
I've seen other framing of windows in which the cripple (or jack stud) also supports the upper window frame. In this video, the crazy framer builds it such that the cripples do not support the upper window frame, only the header. Is there much of a difference or is it a "depends on who you talk to" type of thing?
I find it amazing how far the skills of home building have come. I shared in plenty of those grunts of lifting things by myself that others would deem physically impossible. But with that said, I think you out did me on this job.
Never done framing man and you pretty much explained TO THE POINT how to frame a window. Thanks for breaking this down in a real world and at-work environment. Learned a basic concept within a few minutes... no, i will not call the next client and be like "I know how to frame a window". Just saying i couldn't grasp it with the other 2 hour videos of them selling products. I subbed this page. Gotta find your previous vid though. Great stuff
Great work. I enjoy your youthful knowledge. I carry the same, framing was a calling I awoke to one day, realized I was in it for life. And then the backbreaking work came to life... lol
Great video. But what do you use to fill the rest of the header cavity? Shouldn’t there be a 2x10 on the inside and outside of the trimmer/jack stud so the weight bears equally?
Excellent!! I’m going to be putting an extension on the back of my house soon and plan to do as much of it myself as I can. I’m not a joiner (I’m also not handless) so any tips on framing are well received.
71 year young still learning carpenter here. I started before pneumatic nailers. Boy how things have changed. Very well made video, straight forward , interesting and easy to follow and I've been framing my whole life. What was the purpose of the Tyvek between the sheathing ? Are you purposely nailing at a angle so the nails don't go thru ? I cut my teeth on direct drive saws but why do you prefer them versus a worm drive ? You use a Paslode nailer, I thought Hitachi was the nailer of choice among framers ? Is your tip of your speed square broken off on purpose ? My word of advice is protect your hearing and save your back. Be safe and keep up the good video's. I wish I had You Tube when I started, I'd been 20 years ahead.
That circular saw you’re using in this vid is hard to beat in my opinion. It doesn’t have all the bells and whistles of the other fancy shit but for an experienced framer it’s a lovely one to take to work every day
Way back in the day we would have all our headers and cripple studs pre-cut on a radial arm saw. The header beam would be labelled and ready for the wall when needed. Also all the top and bottom plates would be laid out and marked for studs prior to any walls being framed.
Man... you are a freakin animal ! Kudos... I used to frame back in the day... and you Sir are by far the "best" I've ever seen! If you "truly" want share your talents... Look me up, I'll make you "famous"... you already are with 24k subscribers, but trust me what you do and how you go about it is worthy of Star status ! Over the Top ! Your methodology is pure, self taught or other... you do it right ! BE SAFE would be my only share back with you. Standing 36' walls by yourself... I get it, just "be safe". Thanks for sharing your vids !!! Tom from New Hampshire
How many walls like this one can you do in one day? . How long would it take you to do a framing for 2000 square foot house (2storie) 2k each floor .by yourself .just a triangle no special roofs no special balconies..
One more comment to add, here in the states majority of us sandwich 1/2 inch plywood to match the width of your studs, is it just not required in Canada?
Hello CF, I'm here in northern California and putting together plans for an ADU in the back yard. It will be 750 s.f. with a cut hip roof and a raised floor. Would you be interested in framing the unit. Sure would be a pleasure working with you!!
Hey, appreciate the video. What's your stud size on a 8ft wall? And would you recommend using a bottom plate underneath the header as some joiners don't bother. Header goes straight onto the jack.
Hey man, really enjoying the videos and have learnt a lot. I'm glad you are now breaking it down in sections to explain it all in detail. I have was wondering if you could explain why there is osb on window walls and sheathing and tyvek on the others. When you use sheating do you only have to tyvek the joints and over lap? Which is better and more cost effective? Thanks and keep the vids coming! Its very impressive seeing you build that last house yourself.
Hey, do you guys by chance cut your windows seals at a degree going outwards to let the flow of water to drain out? Also what do you guy tape your sheathing butt joints with? I'm trying to gather some best practice methods from every day pros on the job, im about to do complete remodel of a pier and beam house.
First of Alll... Am Blown away... a House Build on your OWN.. its both a Miracle and a Amazing. Last but not least, boy u need to cut on the beer...i know its alot of work ...heavy stuff..lifting and placing them in their places..and i know..i know..you on your own.

Man thats house will never fall over --- well built with all those nails . Very good instructional video!!!!
Glad you kept the original audio track, it truly reflects the hard work.
Of course, 1 take, no editing, 1 window slayed... 😎👍😁
Me-wondering if the comment was negative or positive
Me-watches video
Me-Concludes it was most definitely positive because dude does, in fact, slay that window. 😎👍😁
Framer of 30 years here, that grunt @9:20 really made my back hurt.
That's the part I related to the most. lol
only while yer young..wink
the fact you said you were a framer for 30 years hurts my back,l lol I'm an electrician which isn't a whole lot better but still....

Lousy, rainy day here so I binge-watched your videos. You are not "crazy", you are savant. Well done.
Just watching you work makes me want to have a beer lol. Good stuff brother.
thought the exact same thing.. we deserve it right?
soulseek2 Of course we do, cheers haha.
time to have a beer
I would still be laying out my plates. Awesome video. Love to see professionals show off their craft and skills.
I love framing. Opening framing is my favorite
Here we have another great channel in the comments, folks! Great how-to on installing metal roof sheathing, btw.
Watched this and felt compelled to comment. I frame for a living nice work man bravo

Great video, are you planning on showing us the rest of the build after framing? Would love to see the end result.
Great job. Here in eastern us most people call it a "jack stud" that supports the header. Cripples are the infill under the sill.
dope. hard workin man right there
One of the best jobs I've ever seen

is it code for you to build those corners that way it seems like way over built, we use open corners now for better R value
Dispite all the negative comments, I think you are doing a great job and I have enjoyed watching you. Keep up the great work
Just found your channel. What a pleasure to watch you build.
Do you have a video framing/building a bay window? It would be awesome to watch.

Awesome! Good & fast with a minimum of yapping. Well done.
Great video. But what do you use to fill the rest of the header cavity? Shouldn’t there be a 2x10 on the inside and outside of the trimmer/jack stud so the weight bears equally?
Mastery of this skill is essential... This is a great demo... Easy to follow... Thanks much!

You make it look so easy it's disgusting...
Bless you bro
Ive seen tyvex put over window from as if it were a wall, then cut an X and tac it inside widow frame opening.
I think i saw it on "This Old House".
I'm gonna have a beer now
Do you bother checking the bows in the studs to install them all bow up or bow down etc?
vzgsxr I think you’re talking about crown. Crown is to be put up on exterior walls

How many beers does it take to frame up a house?
Go have a beer my brother, you deserve it for the job well done. Respect.
You a working fool, no doubt. I used to hire an old head to prefab those ROs on a set of horses while I ran floor joists. Saves a little time
Since that window header is non-bearing, is that the reason the space behind it is spared for insulation? Thanks.
That was crazy effective. As always. Good luck.
...cripples are above the header, and below the sill. Jack studs are the ones just under the ends of the header, next to the king studs...
I think the Crazy Framer is in Canada, so the terminology must be different there.
That circular saw you’re using in this vid is hard to beat in my opinion. It doesn’t have all the bells and whistles of the other fancy shit but for an experienced framer it’s a lovely one to take to work every day
The new cordless one is even better
Like a Boss! Great Job! Your Experience shows.

Dude is a beast. Nice work!
How many walls like this one can you do in one day? .
How long would it take you to do a framing for 2000 square foot house (2storie) 2k each floor .by yourself .just a triangle no special roofs no special balconies..
try to put your door/window packages together then bang your studs, a good cut guy can usually build them while the framers bang walls..
love your channel I'm a finish carpenter and work mostly solo.. Thanks for the videos
One more comment to add, here in the states majority of us sandwich 1/2 inch plywood to match the width of your studs, is it just not required in Canada?
Question , why didn’t you build that wall towards your right to the outside? Inside of leaving it 6inchs short?
Is it the rough carpenter responsibility to the wrap the house or just windows and adding to another subfloor
It's crazy how fast you work. Must be instinct to you! How many years have you been a framer for?
Couldn't do it by myself. Its almost impossible finding help I at least have to have me a labor. You the man. Is those diamond back nail bags?
Is it normal to have a double bottom plate for a window, because I’ve done routing and sheathing and never seen that.
You’re very talented man
Don’t drink 🍷 too much. Take care of yourself. Great job as always 👍👍👍👍
This is getting to be one of those channels that gets immediately upthumbed, within the first 10 seconds anyway.
Good work again.if you ever have issues with westek trusses let me know :)

Nice work CF.......lm in Calgary. Got to get it done before the cold.😲🍻🍻👊
Fair play to you fella you got some skills and some go in you, brill channel 👍
Love your videos. Interesting to see how it's done in other parts. I use your vids for inspiration. Keep it going.
You are a talent for sure. Just don't get cocky and fall off a roof. Almost did that more than 10 times. Now I'm more careful at 47
zactly.

Estoy impresionado. Este amigo no para nunca. Medir, cortar, clavar. Repeat. Lo hace parecer tan fácil.

Just one question why the paper between the ply siding
You is the best crazy framer

Holly shit!!!!....ur strong as hell!!!!!! Man u r so good at it
What kind of compressor are you running?
Do you nail 2 or 3 nails through the plates when installing 2x6 studs wall? Or in some States make 2 nails, some make 3?
Just found your channel, your a true master craftsman! thanks for the lesson
Whats the specs for the typical nails you use for wall framing in your gun? And what for the sheathing?
he mentions he prefers 3 1/4 or 3 1/2 nails in another video re: his nail bags (look here @ 42 seconds ruclips.net/video/8Jr43ps1KQM/видео.html )
Dude! You're a beast.
Good work. How much do you charge to frame a house? I'm buying a house kit, need someone to just assemble it.
Are u still making videos? I haven’t see any lately. Just asking cause there really enjoyable
I’m starting another solo house build series. First video will be posted tomorrow.
Where'd you learn your trade? School or apprenticeship?
First of Alll... Am Blown away... a House Build on your OWN.. its both a Miracle and a Amazing.
Last but not least, boy u need to cut on the beer...i know its alot of work ...heavy stuff..lifting and placing them in their places..and i know..i know..you on your own.
Is this for Canadian or American standard?
do you use 2x6's for all your framing?
Wow that's a buller and a jammer! Good square clean work guy! Amazing video, would love to work and drink with ya..
Nice...that takes some experience to do it like that....it would probably take me a whole day just to do that.
Do the majority of Canadian framers build like this? as opposed to pre fabricated framing where the walls etc are made in a factory
Great work as usual!
where u framing bro? alberta?
havent seen or used the green drywall in ontario yet. are you guys using that garbage foam sheathing yet?
What is the paper for
Didn't you need to cut the plywood back at like 6 1/4" for that inside corner to but into
I see that use the diagonals equality test to ensure it's square... what's your system for resolving your wall/window panel when it's off square
Use a hammer. If that don't work, use more hammer.
TauKinth simple enough, thx
I nail the bottom down before I build it. Then I move the top one way or the other till I have the exact same measurement .

hello sir,How much does it cost to build such a house?House cost does not include labor.Thank you for your reply
Great work really really impressed
How many screw ups a day do u do?
Love the work and videos 💪💯
Once again nice video, that speed square has seen better days, need a new one brother, maybe if you cut down on the beers you can afford a new one 🤣🍺nice of you to be posting more videos.. Cheers 👌🍻
Another great video. U don't play around. 😎
