"Dive deep into the emotional depths with Alice In Chains' haunting ballad, 'Down In A Hole'. Led by the unforgettable vocals of Layne Staley and the masterful guitar work of Jerry Cantrell, this grunge masterpiece captures the essence of melancholy and introspection. From its iconic riffs to its powerful lyrics, 'Down In A Hole' resonates with listeners, drawing them into a world of raw emotion and vulnerability. With Mike Starr's bass and Sean Kinney's drums providing a solid foundation, the band delivers a performance that is both haunting and unforgettable. RIP Layne. We never seem to replace the truly great ones.
No we don’t…I cannot disagree. Although I can say I was lucky enough to get tickets to the first AIC tour with William Duvall at the Electric Factory in Philly and I didn’t know what to expect going in but I was excited and it was a great and welcoming return. Even if everyone in the joint was wishing Layne was there. Fantastic 3 hour show. I think Jerry did Layne’s legacy right. Not to mention a gutsy role for William Duvall to step into. Anyway, just wanted to share that despite missing Layne and other artists we lost.
You can hear the despair in his voice.....I struggled with addiction most of my life. ...I feel his pain, great reaction as always take care
Jerry and Layne harmonizing was so incredible. RIP Layne. You'll never be forgotten.
I love how much you loved this performance!! Layne (the lead singer) was also in a different bad called Mad Season. You should check them out when you get a chance! Great reaction!
This is the voice of 90's grunge music. RIP Layne.
RIP LAYNE
Great reaction. I love when people who understand music react to great music :)
Thank you for your honest reaction! They were the best, the whole band!!!
Layne Staley, the lead singer, was jacked out of his mind on Heroin backstage and they basically had to roll him on stage; then he killed it! Heroin or not, it was an amazing set by Layne, my favorite to be honest.
Agreed with all of this and you could even see Jerry turn around and smile when Layne hits a certain note and part. Almost like relief that he did. RIP Layne
@@michellec2514 yes R.I.P Layne!
I watched them when they opened up for Slayer, Anthrax and Megadeth for the Clash of the Titans tour back in 91. It bummed me out that they were booed basically off the stage. They finished their set like professionals, but it couldn't have felt that great. hopefully it wasn't like that at every stop.
@@Cpt.BilboBagginz I was fortunate enough to see them open for Van Halen. It was right when man in the box came out. I wish I would have known then what was going to happen and maybe I would have appreciated it just a little bit more not that I didn't appreciate it because I liked the band but you know what I mean.
Layne Staley and Jerry Cantrell feed the most beautiful harmonies off of each other, Jerry (Lead Guitar and vocals) wrote this song about his then girlfriend and the impossible relationship of being in the road... Layne's talent was a gift to all of us who love them and their music....
I’m so happy you recognized the harmonizing with Jerry and Layne. Sometimes I don’t think Jerry gets recognized enough for his voice.
Nutshell from MTV unplugged is another good one that they did. Actually the whole Alice in Chains unplugged is amazing and yet so sad because the state that Layne was in
if you want to see the lead vocalist (Layne Staley) in his vocal prime then the obligatory suggestion is “Love, Hate, Love - Live at the Moore Theatre” but anything from Live at the Moore is a great choice, u can’t go wrong😭🙏
Yes, this is the best unplugged concert, ever!
I enjoyed your reaction, thank you.
Awesome song and terrific reaction. Loved you highlighting the bass as it’s outstanding.
Thank you been trying to tell people for years in this particular song the bass is what is carrying the whole thing. Not to say Layne and Jerry aren't killing it too but that bass just sets it off.
At 6:59 is my favorite part. Jerry nods his head to the rest of the band. Its widely known that Layne was deep into his addiction and my guess is Jerry is seeing flashes of his friend shine through.
Ah yes! finally a fellow reactor that give bass attention! I agree yes - bass is definitely important. love this tune and enjoyed your reaction.
Glad you enjoyed!
masterpiece tnks from brazil
This is my favorite commentary of this song and I have seen many reactions. Great work man!
Appreciate that
Man in the box live from the Moore theater is amazing.
Loved your reaction and your appreciation of the musicianship
You should really do this entire unplugged show. One of my favs is Frogs... Great reaction RIP Layne Staley
Jerry Cantrell is the lead guitarist and backup singer. Layne Staley is the lead singer.
They hadn't jammed together or even practiced in a few years by most accounts. This was the result.
I love trying to sing to this song🤘🏽😎
In the car
Driving with only my thoughts
I prefer the album version
R. I. P. LAYNE
Bass guitar is sooo underrated 💯 ❤
Great reaction ❤
This is.
Lane's last performance, I believe. RIP
Pearl Jam. Black. Unplugged performance.
Nutshell from same concert
Really urks me when when people call this metal. It's grunge. Completely different
man the genre of the band alice in chains is grunge not metal
Man, I recommend that you listen better, the song on the album has a better feeling.
grunge isn’t a genre, it’s a scene made up of bands that fit into many genres, AIC has multiple songs across multiple albums with HEAVY influence from metal.
Bro, they are metal. Listen to their first album
We are not meant to replace the great one we should just be happy it was during are time we were graced with such beauty and pain.
As a bass player, i appreciate your words
