Bro you gotta check out a band called Can, their songs “Vitamin C” “Oh Yeah” “Paperhouse” are so good bro. Legends in the prog-rock genre, they got some bangers. You should definitely check out some more AIC too bro 🎸🤘 good shit
Layne Staley is the red shirt singer, and the guitar player (blue hat) is Jerry Cantrell. Alice In Chains music is very deep and can have a depressing vibe, as Layne struggled with crippling addiction thay ended up killing him. All of their music is intense like this. They have a ton of videos. Worth falling into.
This song was released 1992. Alice in Chains (often abbreviated as AIC) is an American rock band formed in Seattle, Washington, in 1987. Since 2006, the band's lineup has comprised vocalist/guitarists Jerry Cantrell and William DuVall, bassist Mike Inez and drummer Sean Kinney. Vocalist Layne Staley and bassist Mike Starr are former members of the band, having died in 2002 and 2011, respectively. The band took its name from Staley's previous group, Alice N' Chains. Often associated with grunge music, Alice in Chains' sound and style is deeply rooted in heavy metal music. The band is known for its distinctive vocal style, which often included the harmonized vocals between Staley and Cantrell (and later Cantrell and DuVall), making Alice in Chains a two-vocal band.
Man In The Box, Rooster... the Unplugged songs Down In A Hole, Nutshell. The singer and bass player are no longer with us, but have left so many great moments behind.
@@truther4lifeactually might want to listen to the studio version first. Because after hearing the definitive live track, every other version will sound pale and hollow by comparison.
Lyrically, vocally, instrumentally, their melodies and harmonies are fantastic. Nutshell and Rooster are my two favorites but don’t sleep on Bleed The Freak. Absolute banger
Staley & Cantrell, the dynamic duo. Great video, lad. Bonus points for the Globetrotters ball and the Mike Bibby jersey. I look forward to more from your channel! RIP Staley RIP Starr.
To answer your question about the sound, of the Seattle grunge bands they were closest to metal end of the rock spectrum. But that said, it does sound modern and I think that’s probably a testament to their song writing abilities and the production quality. Some musicians and producers have it and others sound like they recorded their album with a tape recorder in a gas station bathroom in 1986.
Alice in Chains is a heartbreaking story. It has been typical for musicians to sing about drugs but whereas most focused on the glorification AIC sang about the repercussions like in their song "Down in a Hole". If you get a chance to see Alice in Chains' MTV Unplugged concert you should check it out. The lead singer, Layne Staley, was so dope sick at that point he had said in an interview he was shooting heroine not to get high but to stay alive like how a diabetic had to take insulin. "Nutshell" is a great song that described his struggle with addiction. Sadly the drugs got the best of him when he passed in 2002. He was found dead in his apartment from an overdose of heroine and cocaine. Police believe he had been dead for two weeks before he was found. As far as I know Alice in Chains is still rocking on but it's obviously not the same without Layne. Another great song Layne did wasn't with Alice in Chains but with a super group called Mad Season, he sang a song called "River of Deceit" which details the internal struggle with addiction. So bottom line: don't do drugs but if you are please go get help.
The lead singer is Layne Staley, then Jerry Cantrell on guitar, Rick star on bass...I have forgotten the drummers name...Layne Staley died from an overdose.
Its funny to see black Americans react to this one because you nagas always perk up at the end, when the soul tunes dip comes into effect. Them blue notes. Them blue drums. :) That last droooohooohooo-ooop! Nagas need to know, that Vikangz has those feels as well.
I beg you to watch Alice in Chains: Live at the Moore 1990 on RUclips. The harmonies created by Jerry Cantrell and Layne Staley are LEGENDARY. Especially on Jar of Flies, Sap, and Dirt albums. They're akin to Lennon and McCartney. Layne is the most soulful lead singer in rock history in many people's opinion, not just grunge era. He's a bonafide LEGEND. Please listen to every song you can find, but I Stay Away, No Excuses, and Got Me Wrong really highlight their harmonies. Love Hate Love and Rain When I Die showcase Layne's versatility. Powerhouse. Please watch everything you can. They are NOT the same as the others. The songwriting and soul is so magical.
I've heard AIC called a lot of different things but for many reasons, but to me they are the most metal of all the so called grunge bands. Jerry's guitar tone and technique and the actual ability to write and play solos, is much more old school than most/better. Probably the biggest commonality is that grunge was made by people of my generation Gen X, whereas what we grew up with was made by Boomers. That's how I look at it.
Hit that like button, and subscribe if new!!

I Luv Alice in Chains. They are the darkest and heaviest of the grunge genre with some songs being just pure metal.
Love AIC. Layne was an amazing vocalist, and he and Jerry Cantrell together were special
Every track on their album " Dirt" is worth a listen.
Greatest grunge album of all time!!!
Definitely one of my all time favorite start to finish albums. It never gets old.

I got in to them after "them bones" appeared in my algorithm the day after my hip replacement surgery 😂😂😂
AIC is the epitome of Grunge, so many great songs. If you like Layne's vocals, check out his side project band, Mad Season.

Thank you!!! AIC doesn’t miss. Love Hate Love or Bleed the Freak Live at the Moore. RIP Layne Staley and Mike Starr
Totally agree!
Lyrically, vocally, instrumentally, their melodies and harmonies are fantastic. Nutshell and Rooster are my two favorites but don’t sleep on Bleed The Freak. Absolute banger

Nutshell!! Another awesome song!
Man in the box
I was 16 when the Grunge Era began and they sang and played the soundtrack to my high school years. Layne Staley was a once in a lifetime talent.
listen to one of the songs from their first album and one of the most known songs, "Man in the box"
They're mostly grunge, but they do have heavy songs incredible sound
Them bones !!
Man in the box is a must
There are only 2 bands that I like 95% of their songs or more. Many great bands I like less than half their songs. The 2 bands are Alice and Zeppelin
Oh the Grunge Era , one of the best times for music
They were kings of grunge I'm 66 years old and love these guys it's grunge but more rock twist there great

Here’s the full band:
Lead singer: Layne Staley (rip)
Lead Guitarist: Jerry Cantrell
Bassist: Mike Starr
Percussion: Sean Kinney
Mike Starr is rip, as well.
I loved this song from the first time I heard it. 2 days later I could play it on drums mistake free.
Early 90’s grunge metal!
Love hate love Live at Moore. And also Nutshell and Down in a hole unplugged versions
Great attention to detail, bro. Great reaction

This is definitely Grunge, and it came out in 1992.
From most fav to least fav for that generation of rock for me: Alice, Soundgarden, Screaming Trees, Nirvana, Pearl Jam.
Agreed. Pearl Jam=overrated.
Stone Temple Pilots too. They're above Nirvana and Pearl Jam for me too. But I'm with you, AIC then Soundgarden for my top 2, also.
@@csimone73 omg i forgot about STP. you are correct. Def above nirvana and PJ for me too,.
Please listen to AIC MTV Unplugged from 1996. Ethereal, transformative, and impeccable.
Listen to this last. A soulful but sad masterpiece.
For God’s sake, don’t do Nutshell next!
AIC jammin

Just One Fix
You'll like System of A Down if you like harmonies.

Grunge
Definitely grunge
1992.
I seen them with Queensryke and Van Halen Lane Stanley was a powerhouse ɓàck then until the drugs got him.
It's grunge music
Man in the box nutshell down in a hole again. Layne and Mike both OD’d. Jerry Cantrell is the guitarist.
Just wondering have you done any linkin park?
