1) It is not a central part of the traditional story of Nasranis. If anything it's just a later addition.
2) There are more than one type of Brahmins and while the modern Brahmin type didn't reach Kerala until well after the 1st century, it's very possible for other types of Brahmins to have existed in ancient Tamil Nadu and Kerala.

This was how syro malabar church came into existence.During the same time parent church of this indian nesthorian church which was headquareted in selucia teziphone in iraq was divided by the malicious activities of franciscan missionries of catholic church in order to bring this church under pope.

Archeological absence of evidence is not proof of everything.
And it's not even like there is no archeological evidence. There are a fair amount of Syriac and even Eastern European mentions about Mar Thoma Christians dating back to as far as 4th(and possibly even 3rd) century. Not to mention the discovery of St Thomas Cross in Pakistan.
