  • in todays episode we got special permission to tour this abandoned mansion that was supposedly used by a cult at one point in time in the 70s. After the home had went through several owners the banks got a hold of it and just forgot about it leaving the mansion to fall in despair.

I happen to know a bit about this property and would be happy to clear up some of peoples questions. The house was originally on a race horse farm (the rams head is it’s logo), following that it was own buy the founder of a Buffalo paper, I forget the name. His son was the previous owner who let it get to this condition. With the paper dying they were forced to sell the surrounding property and put several mortgages on the house it’s self which is land locked by the owner of the farm and a mining conglomerate. It’s actually cool there’s a bunch of old equipment that sits on the other side of the pond it’s the most of outing experience to see this place and the old metal machines at night… As a result of the attempts to maintain their life style via debt they eventually failed to pay the bank which gave them multiple attempts to get back on their feet. This is where the cult comes in, the owner would let people live in the house for rent in an attempt to keep it till eventually his wife left him and took their child. He lived there till the bank evicted him, after that he began squatting there and being New York it was hard to do anything about it. The fireplace was destroyed to build the rocket stove to keep the occupants warm during the winter (it gets to -30F there). People were squatting in this house till fall of 2021….. that would be why it looks so recently abandoned, the house literally decaying around someone who lost their mind trying to hold onto their old life. The property only included the house, not even the pond or the gate to enter it. As such it was an almost impossible sell for the bank. As for the cult name I don’t know it but they were everything you could imagine from doomsday peppers. I hope that helps solve some of your curiosity about this place, there’s a lot of messed up stories around this whole area. At the top of the hill from this house there’s an abandoned government cancer research lab that’s equally spooky and from the deck of this house you can actually see the west valley nuclear disaster site at night.

Very very odd name for a horse farm. RAM. I'm thinking RAM WAS THE MINING EQUIPMENT CO. AND THE HORSES WERE FOR A TAX WRITE OFF.
      HOUSE IS IN HORRIBLE CONDITION
SO TRASHED. ANY DECENT FURNITURE IS GONE. AND NOTHING OF VALUE LEFT INSIDE. EXCEPT A FEW APPLIANCES. THIS HOUSE COULD BE CLEANED AND RENOVATED BUT ITS STILL AN. OLD HOUSE WITH LOTS OF BASEMENT MOULD. Pool looks like a dive pool but it's rather small. Workshop was a barn maybe,???
I note the BIDET ON SIDE OF JACCUZI MUST HAVE BEEN FOR USERS TO CLEAN THEIR *UNDERCARRIAGE* REAL WEIRD!!!!

What a great house! You were right about the German flag in the painting. I also saw that the dishes in the kitchen with the blue and white diamond patterns have the crest of the state of Bavaria on them. One of the photos of that serious looking gentleman is a portrait of King Ludwig II of Bavaria. The picture on the wall you said is from France or Italy is actually a depiction of the castle and surrounding walls of the castle in my home town of Nuremberg where I was born. Thank you for the cool tour!

That metal hatch on the back of the fireplace is probably a fireplace clean-out chute. We have one in our 1959 house here. There's a "trap door" under the main fireplace that lets all the ashes and coals drop down (ours goes from the main floor down into the basement where the clean-out door is). This allows you to have several fires without really having to clean it -- You just open the door and scrape the ashes into a metal bucket to dispose the mess. It's pretty handy, actually.

    • @drewgrimm2586

no actually, ya dingus; the chute is in-fact for mail/sensitive documents to be burned providing a secure method of convenient disposal in comparison to a paper shredder...

You did such a great job of filming all that stuff. I think I would have run out screaming. Where in the world would you even begin to look in a place with that much stuff left in it? It totally blows my mind that people can be that wasteful. They would almost need a private landfill to bury all that stuff to get rid of it if it can't be used.

    • @shable1436
      @shable1436 Год назад +9

That was probably left from multiple families combined as the bank struggled to not let it set, probably left it to a property manager who rented TF out of it, and many ppl came and went and each one pilling up shit everywhere, then the squatters came in, using the place with no electricity, rummaging through everything and trashing the place for years, shitting in toilets and using buckets to flush, putting toilet paper in the floor, tampons. I own several properties and have seen this type shit before, it's typical when you have a money pit that costs more to fix up than it's worth, sort of like a old car that still runs but has issues, but you need a newer one but can't afford so you keep patching up your ride until it leaves you stranded. This house is that stranded ride unfortunately this will never be completed restored but patched up, the black mold and rotten bottom floors are horrendous, and needs complete gutted and replaced, that type of work is time consuming and expensive, compared to new construction, minus materials. So in other words, the materials here need to be carefully removed cleaned, and salvaged for the cheapest price which takes incredible amount of time, and ppl, and skills. Again, it's a money pit

I LOVE that Library. I'm a reader, so of course a room like that appeals to me. I love to see what books other people have on their shelves. It's like a little peek inside their heads.
I noticed they have at least a couple of books on gardening, which makes this extra fun for me, since I'm also a gardener. I saw a book on lasagna gardening for sure... not sure what the other one was.
Here's an Idea for your future videos.
Whenever you encounter a nice Library like this, with shelves intact and full of books in good condition, would you please run the camera along each shelf. Just do ONE good slow pan across the Library... that way those of us who are interested can get a read (ha!) for what their interests are/were. No need for more than that, unless something personally interesting happens to catch your eye.
I suppose you could do the same thing with record collections and shelves of CDs, DVDs, VHS and audio cassettes, too. This way everyone who loves certain era or genre of movies and music can peruse the titles.
This doesn't have to take forever... just be in focus. (The pause button is useful that way.)
That's my idea and I'm curious what you think.
I'm looking forward to seeing the follow-up Property Tour video. (I'm addicted to Enes Yilmazer videos, lately.)

Someone did actually try to sell the contents of that home. There was an estate sale held there. I can tell from the little note taped onto one of the library shelves that has the prices for the books - only an estate sale company would put that sign there. There was also a sign at the front of the house that said the downstairs was off limits - that was also put there by the estate sale company, as was the sign on the master bedroom. I attend estate sales throughout the year so I've seen these signs many times. I can't believe that many books were left over from the estate sale. Being a book dealer, I'd go through them in a heartbeat and probably pull out a few thousands dollars worth of easily sellable books.

The A symbol behind the rams head is the broken pentacle , a star with 2 lines missing ( the pentacle is a 5 point star that that symbolizes protection from evil provided it is not broken in any way an all lines are of equal measurement) if lines are missing or broken the evil is let free. That symbol by the indoor pool is similar to the star of Baphomet ( pronounced baff- oh- may)
It's meaning seem more sinister , with the definition of the Brotherhood of the Ram

I did some work back in the early 1980s cleaning out abandoned houses. While the stuff I did was mostly low rent houses, it looked just the same as this. This looks like the last tenant got evicted, so they took the good stuff and abandoned the rest. The signs and prices and "Private" signs tell me that there was some kind of tag sale like an estate sale that went on. I've done a lot of sales and auctions before and that stuff just looks like the crap left over after a sale. The new owner will just have to get a bunch of dumpsters and start filling them.

Wow, very unique house. Very oddly built. Alot of space seemed to need redoing. It would be great to see it after it's renovated. I would not want the task of cleaning it out, so much trash and junk left behind. I'm sure he could donate the toys and clothes, someone could use them. Great video.

These videos always make me feel a little sad. It's amazing how quickly once-beautiful homes fall into decay.
This one was kind of disgusting. I'm not sure what happened to cause them to leave such a mess, but again... it's always a little bit sad to see a person's life and home just discarded to rot. I do kind of get it though. My wife and I recently moved. Our two kids had grown up and gone off to college. They had no interest it keeping most of their old belongings. My wife and I were significantly upgrading to a bigger and nicer home, so we wanted to just buy new furniture, and leave a ton of stuff behind. Even things like a large-screen TV and a small pile of laptops. We rented an enormous dumpster and filled it. We also advertised the free stuff on Craigslist (a huge mistake because over the next week dozens of people swarmed the property and even our dumpster like cockroaches). What's the old saying? "One man's trash is another man's treasure."
Anyway, I guess maybe I do get it... but it's still unsettling to me.

I was lost as to where you were in the floor plan. I don't care about cat litter and sock drawers, but that MOD / Atomic / Mid Century Modern structure would have been amazing!!! That Rocket Stove is an add on to the existing stone fireplace. I hope the new owner keeps that Mid Century look!

The new owner probably picked up the property for a great price just so the bank could unload it ! As a retired building contractor, I can see that it's going to take an extraordinary amount of labor and materials to make the place livable. Everything will have to be brought up to current codes and that takes a lot of $$$.
