I would love to see homes like this fixed up and living again it’s always sad to see a beautiful home abandoned and in slow decay
Too many homeless vets sleeping under bridges for there to be abandoned homes.
@@JubbyLandry as someone waiting for public housing there are to many people in general needing housing or wanting to own a home for all the empty homes and apartments abandoned or not to exist
@@hieithefox absolutely 💯. It's sickening how the elite are doing the poor and oppressed.
@@hieithefoxwho’s paying to remodel it? Not the homeless 😂
I agree, it’s sad to see these kinda beautiful structures go and it’ll probably cost more money to fix it up than it would be to tear down AND build a new “modern” house
Those are herbs, lavender hanging upside down to dry out. Then can be used for whatever. Great house. Thank you for bringing this incredible house to us❤
Herbs were hung to dry for spices. Would have been ground up , then stored.
that's not entirely true, it depends on the use...I'm Pegan and lavender and roses can both be hung for spell work and for drying out the plant!! I did the same thing for my honey lavender cookies!!
@@pubbychan3657 When you say Pegan, do you mean the hybrid Paleo & Vegan diet or did you just misspell Pagan, as in the religious beliefs? I'm confused because you mention both spellwork & food.
Bingo! My neighbor (an elderly woman from Yugoslavia) hangs herbs upside in her garage all the time. When I have my windows open in the summer it wafts nicely into my condo!
Lavender is not evil !!!! HERBS AND SPICES
It's very sad to see these houses where people once lived moments of happiness end. But as the song says "...There's no time for us, there's no place for us, this world has only one sweet moment set aside for us".😭😭
I know of a place that has been abandoned for several years now located in Ellicottville, NY. The owner was a multi millionaire and to this day the car is still in the driveway and the house remains untouched.
Can you message me on instagram? 😊
I grew up in Lakewood NY.
Wow! Do you know the address??
@@BigBankzdid you ever get the message?
Schiller pianos are expensive, wow!
Thats a few thousand dollars in its current condition. They are well known for being millionaires pianos.
Got some hot spots for abandoned camps and mansions as well, but theyre all in maine.
Bunch of em in my area though if your interested, its been a side hobby for 15 years, i find alot of em
😢😮
Amazing house, the details and decor really show the home owners personality. Somebody put their heart and soul into making this a one of a kind place.
My house is very small but built in the northern USA in 1860. I love my cute little house. It is nowhere near as elaborate as this beauty. (I do have a beaufiful sun porch, with a ledge very similar to this house.) Love it! Thank you. I watched just 1 other video and subscribed. So glad I did! 😊
Move ME right in!!! Wow!! This explore had me hook, line and sinker!! I absolutely love the farm house feel and the beautiful space!! It is so odd that the family doesn't have a story to tell......or one that is shared with the community! I would 💯 move in tomorrow given the opportunity!! Thank you so much for continuing to share your amazing explore experiences!! ❤
Ooh, I would definitely not want to move in.
It is a beautiful old home. So elegant with the details and I love how it wasn't completely remodelled destroying the original features.
Not hard to imagine a family or couple living in it. Back in the day it definitely would have had one or two servants as well. I've seen enough period movies shot in real houses to recognise some of the features and why things are set up the way they are with the formal dining room, sitting room and even the enclosed patio where a lot of iced tea would have been drunk lol
Those stairs are too narrow and austere to be anything except to children's bedrooms or possibly servants quarters.
All in all, a really lovely home, not one bad vibe was felt the whole video of Johnny exploring. Its a home too full of heart to be left to rot into nothingness. So sad.
I agree. I would move in tomorrow.
Thank you! A lot of work went into that house at me time. I wonder if it’s sage hanging on the walls to keep evil spirits away.
Doesn't look like sage.
It's been said so.
No, it’s lavender
It's most likely lavender however, Russian Sage does look a lot like lavender and it grows better in in certain locations. I can't grow lavender in my yard for the life of me but i can grow the biggest, best Russian Sage bushes like it's nothing at all.
Thank you for appreciating the absolute beauty of this old home. You have a real and true kind soul. It makes me so incredibly sad to see the home and it’s belongings left to just rot away.
The upstairs room with the horse bed, is a testament to well cared for wood floors. The paint is literally pealing off the walls, and the floors look like they were put in yesterday. That is awesome
I like the kitchen with the built in cabinets and fire place to warm the upstairs !! Nice chandelier and steps leading upstairs , neat mansion !! They like the color blue , neat secret door and room !! Like the wood flooring planks ! Looks like the fireplace going up through the middle of the bedroom , just as you said it !! Neat bed made for the kid ! A real cool mansion , thanks for the tour Big Bankz !!
the ceilings are 14 foot! In bottom because it was originally a single story with huge attic, Stairs are so steep because you were entering the original attic that someone redid into bedrooms. I know this because we thought about using all that attic space in our old house like that. Stairs with little ones was the game changer. Enjoyed seeing someone else make it work for them.
I'm from the deep south. The ceilings, especially on the porch and on the veranda are painted blue to confuse the ghosts, same for inside the house. The color is actually called "Haint Blue". The bundles are to ward off evil and they have a tendency to make the rooms smell good. The outside doors are painted in bright colors to bring in luck and keep out the spirit "Bloody Bones and Raw Head". You'll find that on many old Southern homes but it's dying out. It's wonderful to see a house that is still traditional.
I also live in the South, and when I first saw the sage hanging up in the kitchen, I got a bad vibe about the house. It could have been used for keeping bugs out,, since it repels them. Like Annabelle said, the porches are painted lt. blue on many porches in the South. I wondered if the first family left because they thought it was haunted. Seeing sheets in the tub with dark colorations on the sheet? The next family also left a bunch of stuff in the house, like they were in a hurry to leave. Why? Weird! Thanks for showing this house!
I've heard that the ceilings were painted blue on porch/ verandas to keep bugs away.
@@maryellenshockYes. It’s to keep bugs away by making it look like sky so they won’t land and nest. Not sure how it would confuse ghosts, but always love a good ghost story!
@@maryellenshock Blue doesn't scare bugs away, you're eaten alive on the porch whether it's blue or cream or any color. Nothing scares away southern bugs. The belief behind Haint Blue is that ghosts are searching for a home, a roof over their heads. They get on a house's veranda and see nothing but blue over their heads, they think there is no house there and move on. If someone is especially afraid, they will also paint the foyer and hang sage and other fragrant herbs to ward ghosts off. It looks like a prior owner of that house was very afraid. Did you see where the living room paint was peeling and it was Haint Blue beneath the paint?
Have you been drinking?
Allot of these older homes have such great wood work in them
Totally random comment. I've watched lots of videos of old abandoned homes and newer soon to be demolished homes. Something I immediately noticed was that there was no snap crackle and pop sounds coming from wood floors. Now that's quality craftsmanship you no longer see especially when these newer million dollar homes have so called high end wood flooring that sounds extremely loud when being walked upon. I also really like the wallpaper in the room with the cool castle bed. With some TLC and paint, this home surely could be brought back to its glory days. If I was closer to retirement, I'd sell my home with the quickness to buy a home like that with lots of land and away from 👃 neighbors 😂
If I wasn't so old I'd love to buy and restore !😅
Still looks liveable. Some cleaning and some repairs here and there and it's good
The family were artists and definitely knew about woodworking, by the architecture and design choices. Artsy and loved colours!
Hey Bankz, you should get into real estate! So many of these homes have interested people! You could probably make some extra income by selling these. 😃
It always puzzles me how these homes are frozen in time and it was like people were snatched away . No reports or other famiky that could handle their affairs. Maybe people are being snatched away like the national parks across the country. Back then things remain a " Mystery" or "unsolved". They didn't have the knowledge that we do today to research.
Aliens took them.
@@Bluerose888 more likely project red, BLUE, green BEAM ! 😀
This is gorgeous!
The room with the horses painted on the beds has amethyst doorknobs! Beautiful!!
I'm 53. The house has a late 70's- early 80's vibe to me. The updated areas resemble the early 90's. *Purple Martin was the in color!
Beautiful house and the wood floors are beautiful. I can’t believe how amazing the inside looks that house has great bones. Thanks for sharing
I was thinking that this house couldn't be as old as it looks because the ceilings are high. The old homes I was accustomed to had short ceilings to hold the heat in the winters. Then I realized that perhaps in the south the opposite may be so to allow the heat to rise? That made me realize it indeed is old! What state is this in Bankz?
Gorgeous place! Looks like it could easily be saved.
I wanna buy it
Floorboards upstairs are quite wide. It's old.
If you look at the door jambs in this house you will see that it is quite old and was probably built onto at a later date. I think the tax records indicated 1846.
We had high ceilings in the south in the older houses.
Old houses had high ceilings. Actually, 8' ceilings only became common during and after WW2 because standard studs were cut to 8' to save wood. Before that, they were cut to whatever the homeowner could afford. My Grandfather was a contractor. he built his own house with 10' ceilings on the main floor.
This place gives me the creeps big time. No way no how would I ever live there
Do you ever look up the property owner at the assessors office, and try to figure out what happened to the owners? It looks as though the owner was upgrading and remodeling the house. It would be worth knowing how they left this home! It’s amazing.
Explorers are simply not going to take the time to find out all the pertinent information. all they want to do is make a video and get it online so they can start getting paid. getting all that information takes time and they're simply not going to take that kind of time to find the information out.
@@jimmyelliott7473 Some exploers do research the history of the places they show. in fact quite a few do so.
That's a shame. @@jimmyelliott7473
actually theres a few that do so they can get the story of what happened@@jimmyelliott7473
@@jimmyelliott7473Bollocks! Johnny often gives background details at the very beginning of the video about who and why and when. He does this kind of investigating after he's shot the video, though sometimes he knows the details beforehand if it's well known. He's one of the few urbex people who bothers. Go be negative and jealous elsewhere, or apologise.
Your choice. But your energy, as it is, is negative and unwelcome.
I liked this place. I think the hanging plants were lavender. Would have smelled great! I liked the details in this place and would have spent many hours in the sunroom❤❤❤❤
What a cool ass house! I'd live there in a heart beat, if I could. The decor reminds me of the late 80's- early 90's. Very creative & talented homeowners!
Big Banks I was so excited to see your video of this house! I absolutely love this house I saw it this summer on Urban exploring with kappy!! I'm so happy you went to explore and video it yourself! I was so happily surprised to see this house again I love it!!😊
Great looking house for it's time. Thank you for sharing Bankz
Very beautiful home. This would have been amazing when the family lived here. So sad seeing a home like this going to waste. 😢
IT'S HERBS,THEY WOULD HANG IT 4-DECORATIONS,COOKING,AIR FRESHENER, ALSO DETOUR RODENTS,& SPIDERS. Those aren't crystal, they're cut glass, until they started using molded plastic
The room behind the kitchen fireplace is for wood, drying room for fruits, vegetables and herbs. That library/sitting room is awesome. The entire house is gorgeous. I love those Persian rugs.
Guys get some Off brand botanical spray. All natural, won't hurt animals and it works great! Keeps mosquitoes away.
Those doorknobs are glass. Cool house! Turn your worries into prayers. I needed to hear that! Thank you!
That wide plank flooring is AMAZING!
This house is so beautiful that it's hard to believe it's abandoned! Unless that house is haunted, then I can understand why it would be abandoned.
If it's haunted , I'll take it as long as it's free or dirt cheap. I'll cleanse it first then slowly fix it up.
Isn’t that sage hanging from everywhere?
@@danevertt3210 I thought it was some kind of dried herb.
@@Bluerose888 sage is an herb
At 1st I thought it was lavender but now I'm thinking sage.
Behind the fire place would be a great place to dry things like your herbs & beans etc.
You were wondering what the stuff on the wall was & i was curious what the comments said. Ppl alternated between sage & lavender & i wanted to know. IT IS DEFINITELY LAVENDER.
Thats the perfect size house and great layout
Excellent verse to ponder! You picked a good one. Philippians 4:6 “Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.”
I loved this house!!!!! I think the room with the red paint and the movable stairs was for someone that had just painted that room!!! I loved the kids bedrooms upstairs and the porch on the bottom floor with that gorgeous wicker furniture!!! The ledge you mentioned might have been to sit on I think they would have sat along there and eaten meals and snacks and enjoyed the fantastic views!!! I have watched all of your tours, you’d are by far the very best!!! You are respectful, polite, don’t use ugly language, don’t move the camera to fast, show us everything, you are the very best Banks keep up the great tours!!! A big fan from Alabama!!!
See? Mr. B? Wha'd I tell ya!
The ledge was probably used for indoor plants and flowers.
The ledge was for the cats. 😹😹😹
I appreciate your taking time to explain things as you do. I also appreciate the respect you show for the house you are exploring. Hope you're still making videos for us. 🙂👍
This house has such warm, welcoming vibes... I love the style they had. Cool to know the symbolization of the purple door. I need to paint mine lol! The herbs are for protection or to be used for dishes etc mostly for the decoration.
I’m sure it was really beautiful back in the day and it still is. It’s a shame that it’s sitting there empty. Love every thing about. Thank you for sharing have a blessed day 😊
Those things on the kitchen walls is lavender. I believe it was used as air freshners. I had a couple of great aunts that had it in their houses.
Yes it's lavender hanging I still use them in my house beautiful smell
Or possibly Russian Sage. The 2 look very similar.
Dances with Wolves was an excellent movie you should watch it. Very nice home, love the claw foot tub.
That looks like old lavender hanging up… and it would make sense cause they liked purple.
You've never seen Dances With Wolves?! You MUST! Excellent, excellent movie!
I love your finds. I am looking forward to seeing your next video.
Great video! Very nice old house. It was a little weird that some of the stuff was more modern. Looking forward to more southern homes.
I'm shocked its not totally vandalized. Beautiful home❤
BB I love the way you tell a story and your observations amazing much love from Indiana ❤😊
That area behind the fireplace is to hang herbs to dry for preservation
This is by the far one of the best homes that I have ever seen watching these abandoned home videos, and yes the hanging herbs were lavender
left to dry, either as a natural poupari or for something medicinal You did an amazing job finding this place. If I had the means and knew a bit more about the place, I would buy it AND maintain the grounds and fix the inside and make it come alive again.
It’s lavender hanging
I wish someone would restore this home!! It would be gorgeous. So much potential here ❤
Oh my.. you would have something in common with Kevin Costner in that movie! You must watch!!! You will know when you see the part... Have a great weekend!
Definitely looked like protective herb bundles - maybe paranormal issues?
I loved exploring this one!
Heck yeah bro!
I just discovered your channel. This old mansion was amazing. I am also glad the vandals haven't found this place.
Danced With Wolves is a GREAT MOVIE!! Please watch it!!! Love your explorations!
Hey 👋 BigBankz always good to see your video contents! Love this episodes Scripture, thank you for sharing the Word. This video of this mansion was amazingly colorful for sure👍🏻 So grateful. GOD bless you!
Back in 2006, I bought a 110 year old Victorian style house. One of the most structurally interesting and detailed houses I’ve ever seen. The last update was back in 1956. The kitchen had a massive gas stove (had to be lit with matches) with an analogue clock in the center where the knobs are…4 burners on the top and a griddle in the center, the oven had 4 differently sized baking compartments. The pantry could’ve been a bedroom lol. Black and white checkered floor. Butlers swinging door from the kitchen to the dining room. Extremely narrow servants staircase ran between the kitchen and basement. The grand stair case in the front foyer scaled up 3 flights.
Still my most favorite house I’ve ever owned. I sold because the neighborhood around it was going downhill.
But it has all original crystal doorknobs on every door - there’s a total of 18 doors in that house.
Each of those sets of doorknobs is worth $50/$60. Can you believe it??
..well, back in 2010 they were worth that. I don’t know if they’re worth more, or less now.
Quite a find, thank you ever so much, you battled, mosquitoes and spiders, to kick out some quality work 🤩👍🏻👍🏻✌🏻💕
The dried hangings look like ether heather or lavender 😊
Amazing place the stuff hanging on the wall looks like they were drying out lavender great job 💕✨☘️
I love the purple doors!!! My favorite color!!! And of course I love the house!!!!!
BigBankz,
This house is so unique.
You walk in the front door and to your right is a formal sitting room (parlor), further on a library/office with the black/white tile, large kitchen with the built in baquet for eating and then the formal dining room. I can just imagine how beautiful the checkerboard dining table would be once dusted, stripped, and refinished! The shine is there, it just needs brought out!
I may have mentioned to you before, but with pianos it’s a must to close the lid over the keys. It helps keep the dirt from getting in and prolongs the life of the piano itself.
Clawfoot tubs are my thing and you can pretty much choose the size you want! ❤❤ In Kansas City, MO there’s a place where you can purchase these old cast iron/porcelain sinks and tubs.. There was a tub there that was once owned by “Harry Truman,” President from Independence. As you remember he became crippled, and the tub he had to use was at lease 10-12 feet, probably longer and several feet wide! It was huge! They say he did physical therapy in it so had to be large enough for himself and his therapist. The things you discover in life! If that tub could talk..you could most likely get 10 people in there. LOL
The wood floors in this home were still shiny, even after years of collecting dust and dirt!
Thank You for sharing this home with us. I hope someday that a family will once again call it home before the elements have destroyed it beyond repair.
God Bless ❤
Totally love your show!! Ever up to having a travel buddy for a bit down south… I’m game!! Love the homes you bring to life on this channel!! I’ve told everyone about this channel.
Nice house. It’s a shame that it sits empty. Have you ever had anyone come in on you whenever you explore these places?
Good Evening BigBankz 🙋🏽. I'M finally able to watch your video. I really need a new phone. I can't afford one right now 🤷🏽. I hope your day was great and good job on your explore.❤
Loved this house! I would love to live in a house like that restored and modernized. The front porch is gorgeous. It didn’t look like it has been abandoned too long. The houses now have no style! Really enjoyed this!
Yea I don’t like new houses. I like older homes with character.
I'm like you I want modernized ! When we bought are house the same family had lived in it for sixty years , they didn't have electrical outlets in the entire upstairs the walkway to the outhouse is still here so many things we're never updated I had to have electrical outlets!
Thanks for sharing this video, there is so much charm to this home little bit of TLC and few renovations this home would be a wonderful home for a family to raise their children, what’s so troubling to me when I watch these videos I always wonder where did everyone go 😮
Another great exploration Bankz! Fantastic upload!!
What a beautiful home. Made me feel all sorts of ways. Could envision the kids running up the stairs, and the family using the different parts of the home.
Haha I can imagine a little girl running up those stairs and being admonished by her mother, or maybe the cook, that proper ladies don't run up stairs! Walk!
@@Tomeccho hehe for real! "Walk, and not run in this house" 😂
Wow! What a house! Can only imagine how stunning it was when lived in. It truly seems like a magical house, in more than one sense of the word. Beautiful, and obviously very talented with decorating. The staircase seemed a little puzzling - you'd have thought it would have been a little more majestic, wider etc to suit the house. But I loved it. Would have loved to live there!
What a beautiful home!
Loved this house,it looks like the family loved the kind of wallpaper from the older homes. Loved the master bedroom and bathroom. The bedrooms upstairs were interesting, especially the children's room. The secret room was a great place to hide when you wanted time to yourself. I love older houses like this one. Loved the older furniture, the dining room table, really older style. Thanks for video.
The toile inspired wallpaper is a popular design element that often gains a resurgent popularity during historical anniversaries like the Bicentennial, for example. Not sure when this house was built, but it's possible they chose it during one of those events.
Herbs and flowers hanging about. An aperitif cabinet. All it would take to peal paint is a hot season or two with latex paint over oil paint. With all the colors this presents as a quirky vacation home.
So sad that such a beautiful home going to waste
I've been waiting for your video 🤙thank you for what you do!
I think it’s lavender 😊
I loved the house, very cool!!!
Wow absolutely beautiful place, come to England ❤❤
If that was my house. I whould never leave!!!!
Love those old places with some updates but leaving a lot of the original charm beautiful place nice find
Thanks for sharing that explore , what a strange house , the fire place in the kitchen and children’s bedroom just looked odd.. however I bet the rooms were warm especially the kitchen when you were cooking
i had those exact horse decals on my wall when i was a kid😂 so cool to see them in one of these videos!
Love it Big Bankz, I’m with you, the older southern mansions are the best!! I like newer ones you tape but no craftsmanship whatsoever! Yes some unique structures but gosh they put talent in the old mansions! That parlor over the fireplace, the crown molding in all rooms, the kitchen’s unique shape & cabinetry with that crazy fireplace and nook behind. The master bedroom I love the paper & fireplace. I think the master bath looks like a type of paint on the walls instead of paper. (Used to do it for a living) and I did wallpaper which I love. Hope it’s coming back! The kids rooms have so much detail & love in them. This seems like they were very family oriented and close. I hope they have a happy ending wherever they are! This place is amazing! If I could only afford an old place like this to finish up and live in! It doesn’t seem that it needs as much as some do. Love your videos and your buds! Peace out ✌🏼
I love it! I used to live in one so very similar with the huge front porch and swing. ❤
Its sad to see such a beautiful home decay like that, and imagine the happy times the family must have had there. I can see happy kids running around, and those cool bedrooms showed they were a loving family. I wish we could get more info on why these people just up and left like they did. Hopefully someone will restore it if possible. Id sure love to!!!
These abandoned houses should be made available instead of being neglected for so long. Too many homeless people out there.
I am so glad you made it there! You did such a great job!! I am just so sorry it has been robbed of several things since I saw it.😢
Thank you so much for the help! It was a beautiful place!
Always welcome!!♥️
I live by a historical mansion. It's called Summerseat. George Washington and his army stayed there. He was friends with the owner. It's located in Morrisville Pennsylvania.throwing
I really love this mansion love the colours especially the room with the salmon colours love the huge windows with the wide window sills I especially like the trees as you look outside the window to the far end looks very picturesque wow what a home do the people wonder if their old house still stand wouldn't they wonder what became of their roots that their children grew up in a quarry wonder of what might be did they ever want to come back even just once to see it one more time just for old time sake I'm so amazed how anyone would just leave such a beautiful house this is their dream home memories amazing if the walls could talk would they would tell the many stories untold the mysteries no one will ever know ❤🎉🎉thats awesome are you allowed to take something from these old forgotten Mansions if you wanted thank you for showing I absolutely loved this
Wow how cool 👌 was that really surprised to see furniture still inside ❤.
Must be kind of eariry going investigating old empty houses 🏘 .

Herbs like lavender
Sorry about the late response Bankz, what a awesome house. I love it. It's cool. So many nice fixtures and furniture. Think we have a new favorite. Thanks Bankz for the great tour, really enjoyed this one.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Why are all these houses abandoned with everything in it and not resold or foreclosured on?
Wow, how I wish I could refurbish this home. Absolutely beautiful!
Lavender was left hanging upside down to dry
