  • 100 Days with no alcohol - Clare Maskery joins me to share her journey from being a daily heavy wine drinker who needed alcohol every night to function, through to her amazing transformation at 100 days sober.
Clare is a busy mum who works full time and after more than two decades of drinking she found that alcohol was starting to hold her in a tight grip. She noticed how she was putting it ahead of the most important things in her life and was struggling to control how much she drank.
When Clare realised she had a problem she had a period where she managed t to drink using willpower alone, she also had several stints with Alcoholics Anonymous but before long she found herself right back at the start, drinking each day and wondering if she would ever be able to beat the addiction.
In a strange twist of fate Clare was introduced to me and it turned out that she lived on the same street.
We worked together and before long Clare experienced a real shift in her mindset. She began to question her relationship with alcohol and how drinking featured in her life and became excited and motivated about what an alcohol-free might look like.
Now at 100 days sober, I have witnessed an incredible transformation. Clare has changed in so many ways and in this video she talks about her amazing journey to sobriety.
Clare is passionate about changing the attitude that some people have towards sobriety and alcohol problems and truly believes that there is no shame in being sober.
Keep an eye out, I am sure we will be seeing more of Clare in the future!

I really want to quit drinking. Frankly I just feel exhausted. I just don't know how to get there. Every day I wake up and say I've got to stop, but in the evening I'm on the wine again. I don't know what to do.

2 and a half years for me where I've been actively or telling myself I'm trying to quit. The daily loop of feeling miserable and exhausted all the time eventually has to end. I can't keep pounding caffeine to get through the day than alcohol and sleep medicine to come down. I'm 42 and have a 2 year old who I want to be around for as long as I can for.
Crazy thing is I quit for 3 months last year, felt amazing and for some dumb reason started up again. I now know for sure I can't moderate my drinking.
      Today is day 1 again

How wonderful to hear such strength and intelligence from you both you and Clare Simon....thank you for this truly inspiring 'share'. My story so 'mirrors' Clare's story...and I hope to have the fortitude to embrace an alcohol-free life shame-free as well! What incredible 'karma' that you found each other and live on the same street! Just as an 'aside'...I would be very interested in knowing the names of/suggestions for the 'self-honouring' alcohol-free drinks one could bring to social gatherings to not feel 'deprived'...but actually look forward to imbibing! Much grace and thanks for the incredibly beneficial work you constantly offer and produce.

Well done, both of you xx I have been a problem drinker, Forever, I'm 57 now. Didn't drink every day as the hangover was so brutal That even Just the thought would make me feel ill. Anyway, I have noticed the past few years nothing really makes me happy, things That I used to look so forward to. Has this got anything to do with my drinking or have I Just become a miserabile cow?? I'm on day 8 and so determined this time❤️
    would out me off for

Hi Sandra, thank you for leaving a comment. I know for me, it was alcohol that caused me to lose the love of the small things. However, I only realised it was alcohol causing this once I had completely removed it from my life and took back control. Please do keep in touch with your progress. I also have a fantastic support network on Facebook. It's a private group completely free of charge - facebook.com/groups/1960061840706240
