Offering advice for anyone who wants to quit drinking and be sober. These tactics are what helped me quit alcohol on my own and I want to share them with you.
The first few days and weeks after you quit alcohol can be challenging, they certainly were for me after drinking heavily every day for over twenty years. I never thought I could quit, I was caught in an alcohol trap and never believed I could get out of it. I had lost hope and got to a point where my alcohol addiction was ruining my life.
Using the exact same advice I share in the videos on my RUclips channel I was able to quit alcohol and turn my life around.
I knew it was vital that I had the right support, tools and tactics to ensure I was able to get through the initial tough period, which is generally the first 2-4 weeks. This video shares exactly what worked for me when I quit alcohol.
If you are wondering how to quit alcohol on your own without the need for Alcoholics Anonymous or Rehab, then I share everything you need to know on my RUclips channel. I am a quit alcohol coach and share everything I have learned to empower others to make a long lasting and powerful change.

I can really relate to the getting through 5-7pm without drinking. Once that’s passed the cravings disappear.

Hi Simon, I listen to you every morning. I joined your Facebook site... The majority of people were wonderful. But there was one person who said some negative things to me, (I think he was drunk, and or just a horrible person). That put me off for a while, I think one of your admin deleted him. Anyway I'm going to rejoin and ignore that negative start... I guess people have their battles and his way of dealing with things was by being negative to others. Keep doing what you are doing simon, you are really helping me xx

I got through the early days by putting a teaspoon of red wine in a glass and just taking deep sniffs of it. Sorted out my cravings and I didn't need to do it for long.

Despite the draw of moderation, it has not worked for me. If there is alcohol in the house, I will drink it. One of the biggest obstacles I face is sleep. If I go to bed sober, I can’t sleep.

I keep going a few weeks then cracking and bingeing heavy. Genuinely can’t imagine being able to go out and not drink and be happy/normal. That’s the problem. Just got to keep going.

Get new friends who don't drink. Stops socialising in places where you and others would normaly drink. What I did was join new social clubs and find new hobbies. Try to find a new passion that doesn't involve alcohol and you will make friends within that circle then forget about your old drinking life. It's always going to be hard if you are going to places that remind and trigger you everytime you go out. If you are still struggling after that, then you may just not be ready in yourself, but don't stop trying. You will get there in the end. it took me countless attempts but when you get to the real one you will know it in your mind right away.
