Rodney, you do such a great job with walk through videos. I am so glad BoardgameGeek partnered with you to bring us another year of content. Thank you for sharing your enjoyment of games for all that watch you play.
Thanks Rodney, you’re the best! I saw this game and recognized the company because of Above and Below (which I also love) and your videos for me serve as a helpful way to learn them but also assess if I’d like it, which in this case Megaland seems awesome.
Just unboxed this and was going through the rules. Was a little lost on the buying portion. Thanks for clearing it all up. Running a "mock" playthrough currently....really like it but already I can see the potential for some expansion packs
Great job Rodney! makes playing this a breeze with my little guy today. have a streaming box setup in my game room now to share your rules explanations before we jump in for new players :)
Thanks for putting this out there, Rodney! I planned to pick this up at Target when it releases later this month, and now have an EASY way to begin playing!
We played this over the weekend and had "mega" fun. It's a super cute game. I definitely want to introduce it to our honorary niece. I think it will induce lots of giggles! Thank you as always for these super helpful videos!
Can't wait for this game. Hoping relatives visiting the US can pick me up a copy since it's a Target exclusive. Thanks Rodney, looks like a nice family game.
When trading with the rabbit, can the carrots come from anywhere? Like stored in you building? Or does it have to be from what you collected from the current run? Thanks.
You can use stored carrots to trade with the rabbit, but the new treasures become part of your current run and will be lost if you fall. They new treasures can't go back into storage.
Interesting little push your luck game from Red Raven Games. I'd be curious for a gameplay as I'm not quite sold on it yet. Hopefully looking forward to one from you guys! ;)
Just a few quick questions. Firstly, why would a player choose not to attempt a level, if your health returns to full at the start of each round? Secondly, what are the symbols above the injury area of the player card, and what do they mean? Aside from that, great review! Love your work Rodney :)
If you lose all your health, you also lose any treasure you had collected so far: ruclips.net/video/kAIQ6QOAfk0/видео.html The symbols remind you of the distribution of symbols you'll find on the cards in the deck.
Love your videos. Have a question. Do cards abilities stack? And specifically for the arcade. If I have 2 arcades you get the rewards for both arcades even if the first 2 gold puts you ahead of someone else cause you were entitled to it at the end of the buy phase right? Thank you very much!
I just got a reply from Red Raven and this is what they said: "Card abilities do stack, yes. All cards trigger at the same time, so you would get rewards for both arcades."
Do you know if the continuous effects of some buildings can be stacked if you own more than one? For example, the 1-cost building that allows you to keep 1 good if you fall in a level, if you own 2 of them do you keep 2 goods when you fall?
Thanks for checking out the video! The hearts only need to be purchased once. So as an example, after you've purchased 1 additional heart, you would now begin each future dungeon with 5 hearts instead of 4.
Red Raven with another exciting game. This one looks a bit lighter then some of their previous games. Do you know when this will be available for purchase?
Hey Vesela. When it says 1 coin, it means you collect that coin once. If it says +1 coin and has a moon symbol beside it, it means each night phase, you get +1 coin. You'll find examples of this here: ruclips.net/video/kAIQ6QOAfk0/видео.htmlm49s and then the other is here: ruclips.net/video/kAIQ6QOAfk0/видео.htmlm27s
Ok, on the buying phase, I buy a building, then player 2 makes a purchase. If I still have treasure to spend, can I then purchase another building (not the same)?
During your turn in the buying phase, you buy any buildings that you wish to (just not multiple of the same) before the next player takes their turn to buy and so on. It doesn't rotate back again after the last player has made their purchases.
I do by best to answer all rules questions on the games I cover, but I avoid individual card effects, as that's a level of detail beyond what I can manage across all the videos I do. I'd suggest checking the rules forum for the game on BoardGameGeek or the publishers website. I hope you can find your answer there - have fun playing!
Bought this to play with the kids, we have a question though. If you use the Herb Hut to “return” do you get all your hearts back or no hearts back? It looks like you lose all your treasure except the 1 you trade in, but really since you “trade it in” you lose that one too. What is the point of coming back if you lose all the tokens.... unless you get your hearts back?
Hey Christine, during the night phase (at the end of the round), all players get all their hearts back. So before you start the next, you'll always have your full hearts, no matter what. Normally, if you Fall, the big penalty is that you lose all the treasure that you had above your board at that time. Now, you at least get to come back with one (which means you could use that one to buy a new building, for example). Hope that helps.
That's four out of ten level cards. So 40% chance if you were to risk one in the first round. But your odds get better every time a new level card is revealed. Of the six level cards that have damage, four can be jumped over, including the big 3 point card. So, they will definitely be worth having.
It's there as a general rule that you "always" choose before treasures are dealt and a new level is revealed, but yes, you would also go to the first level.
The mechanics of this game look really interesting, but the theme is a deal breaker. We're collecting fish and carrot treasures in a video game to buy businesses? That just doesn't make any sense. Great tutorial, though!
It might help to think of it in terms of video game logic (Mario smashes his head into a brick wall and a coin pops out, or jumps on a flower and can now throw fireballs - that type of thing). I take your meaning though, it's certainly not a traditional economy :)
I agree, Ryan seems like a really nice guy, but the art makes me sleepy... honestly i can't really even penetrate the mechanics, it just seems like more conversion activities
Rodney, you do such a great job with walk through videos. I am so glad BoardgameGeek partnered with you to bring us another year of content. Thank you for sharing your enjoyment of games for all that watch you play.
Very kind of you to say Daniel - I'm excited to be doing this for another year!
I agree. So clear in his explanations. Takes out all the guess work
One of the best board game tutorials I’ve ever seen! Great job!
Thank you Steve.
Bought! Now this game should definitely have expansion levels!
you know what I just noticed? All the enemies you cannot jump are flying enemies.
Good catch :)
Thanks for the post. We had received this game in a garage clean out and had no clue how to play. We played it tonight and it was awesome!
Hey hey, nice find and very glad the video helped!
Thanks Rodney, you’re the best! I saw this game and recognized the company because of Above and Below (which I also love) and your videos for me serve as a helpful way to learn them but also assess if I’d like it, which in this case Megaland seems awesome.
Joe, thank you so much for the kind words - it means a lot to know you're finding the videos helpful!
Just unboxed this and was going through the rules. Was a little lost on the buying portion. Thanks for clearing it all up. Running a "mock" playthrough currently....really like it but already I can see the potential for some expansion packs
Hey Kling, glad this was helpful!
This should definitely get a playthrough. I don't care how light it is, I'm a sucker for Red Raven. Buy it? Yes, I will.
Thanks for checking out the video Matt!
This seems a lot like incan gold with a bit more of a game wrapped around it, which I am all about. I'm pretty stoked for this.
Glad you're liking what you're seeing Andres.
Agree
Picked up my copy today from target! Played a couple games with my wife and had fun!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great job Rodney! makes playing this a breeze with my little guy today. have a streaming box setup in my game room now to share your rules explanations before we jump in for new players :)
Very nice to join you at your gaing table!
Thanks for putting this out there, Rodney! I planned to pick this up at Target when it releases later this month, and now have an EASY way to begin playing!
Happy to assist - glad you liked - hope you enjoy playing! :)
Red Raven games always create very interesting games. Can't wait for the release! Thanks for another excellent tutorial video, Rodney.
You're welcome! Glad you enjoyed it!
I read the directions, but just couldn’t get it. His explanation made it crystal clear. Thanks much.
So glad to hear this was helpful Bren - have a great time playing!
Just bought it tonight for a game night with my son. Thanks for the video. Great job as always.
I hope you both have a fun time!
We played this over the weekend and had "mega" fun. It's a super cute game. I definitely want to introduce it to our honorary niece. I think it will induce lots of giggles! Thank you as always for these super helpful videos!
So glad it landed well - interesting to see Red Raven do a simply game, along with all of their big sprawling adventure games!
Really well explained. Thank you!
You're very welcome!
Can't wait for this game. Hoping relatives visiting the US can pick me up a copy since it's a Target exclusive. Thanks Rodney, looks like a nice family game.
Thanks for joining us to check it out!
Will you be playing this game ? i am curious to see how it goes.
Possibly - got a batch of tutorials I want to get done this month, but we'll get a game play started of something soon as well!
Fun video for what looks to be a fun game! Great stuff, Rodney!
Thanks POW.
I like this game. It gets across the theme it's going for well.
Glad you enjoyed!
Nice wee game. Good stuff Rodney!
Thanks Steevo!
Very clear explanation
Thanks Max!
Welcome back! :)
It's good to be back!

We don't usually announce our videos until we're at the scripting or filming stage, so I can't say for sure. It's a possibility though!
Looks really fun and easy to learn.
Thanks for coming by to check it out Matt!
Very much appreciate the video for this, ty Rodney :)
You're welcome Philip!
QUESTION!!! do the hearts need to be purchased in order? Can I buy a 6th heart directly without first buying a 5th heart in order to later buy a 6th?
You must purchase them in order. Hope that helps!
Just a few quick questions. Firstly, why would a player choose not to attempt a level, if your health returns to full at the start of each round? Secondly, what are the symbols above the injury area of the player card, and what do they mean?

The symbols remind you of the distribution of symbols you'll find on the cards in the deck.
Question: can you buy the jump tokens or do you only get them by purchasing a building with jump tokens?
Hey Kathryn, you get them with buildings.
Love your videos. Have a question. Do cards abilities stack? And specifically for the arcade. If I have 2 arcades you get the rewards for both arcades even if the first 2 gold puts you ahead of someone else cause you were entitled to it at the end of the buy phase right? Thank you very much!

Perfect - thanks for sharing!

The abilities of the buildings do stack!
Quick question
1. Do hearts have to be repurchased for every dungeon run/are 4 hearts the default unless you buy more per run?
Thanks for checking out the video! The hearts only need to be purchased once. So as an example, after you've purchased 1 additional heart, you would now begin each future dungeon with 5 hearts instead of 4.
@@WatchItPlayed that's how we played, thanks for the quick response and keep up the great work on these excellent videos
GameEnthus do the hearts need to be purchased in order? Can I buy a 6th heart directly without first buying a 5th heart in order to later buy a 6th?
Red Raven Games is awesome! Looks like a good game. I love that insert..wow! :D
Thanks for checking it out Adam!
Red Raven with another exciting game. This one looks a bit lighter then some of their previous games. Do you know when this will be available for purchase?
I'm not totally certain (I think later this month).
I'm not totally certain (I think later this month).
Awesome! Thanks.
July 30th!
Brenna Asplund
Thank you, I look forward to trying it out.
Thank You
You're welcome!
Is there a difference between "1 coin" and "+1 coin" in the effects of buildings? Thanks!
Hey Vesela. When it says 1 coin, it means you collect that coin once. If it says +1 coin and has a moon symbol beside it, it means each night phase, you get +1 coin. Got it, thanks, Rodney!
If you sleeved the cards will they still fit in the insert?
Haven’t tried that. Looks like the buildings would.
Ok, on the buying phase, I buy a building, then player 2 makes a purchase. If I still have treasure to spend, can I then purchase another building (not the same)?

What happens if you jump the red snake and you have the Temple of Zoz, will you get the 2 coins?

Four.

I don't see the tie breaker rules in the rule book. Am I missing them somehow?
You're not missing them! I noticed there were not rules in the book for breaking ties, so I asked the designer and added their replies to the video!
Thanks Rodney! As always, you’re the best!
when can i buy this?
I'm not totally certain (I think later this month).
Great game.. wish there were more enemies
if there are no more cards in the level deck, is players forced to leave or what?
Yes.
thanks for the fast reply
This seems like a board game version of the video game Moonlighter.
Seems interesting. Just push your luck game. But interesting.
