For future reference, and anyone reading. When you loot an island, kill Bruce but only take the meat, don't take the head. It takes the body about five minutes to despawn and then the shark takes another 3 minutes to respawn. Only take the meat and that's about 8 minutes of peaceful diving. Oooor anchor your raft a faaaaar ways away from the island you're about to dive and loot. If it's far enough, Bruce will stay by the raft while you do your thing at the island. You're welcome~
